New AG Holder: When it comes to race, America is a “nation of cowards”

posted at 4:00 pm on February 18, 2009 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

So saith the first black Attorney General, appointed by the black president we cowardly Americans just elected — which, last time I checked, is one more than any European country’s ever elected — during a speech honoring America’s officially recognized Black History Month. The key bit comes about a minute in. There’s nothing shocking about this, unless it’s how pedestrian it is. It’s the same old nonsense about having an “honest” conversation on race, which typically means agreeing root and branch with the leftist position on any policy issue that touches that subject (e.g., illegal immigration) on penalty of being called a racist. The boss notes the irony of Holder uncorking this on a day when “civil rights leader” Al Sharpton is demagoging the hell out of the New York Post for an innocent cartoon, but there’s an irony even more sublime here: Obama himself did everything he could to avoid race during the campaign — aside from the occasional insinuation that McCain’s a bigot — until the Wright uproar forced his hand. He could have used his platform to push the issue front and center but he decided he’d rather get elected. Holder owes his job to that, ahem, cowardice.

It takes a racist to draw a conclusion like Holder’s.

I love that our current leadership tells us that the country is in a freefall, is a catastrophe, is a nation of cowards and needs to change. It makes me feel awesome.

When it comes to race, America is a “nation of cowards”

I was suprised it took this long to call those Nascar drivers cowards for not finishing the big race in Daytona.

America is a “nation of cowards”

I suppose the huge numbers of causalities during the civil war were the most cowardly.

And besides, nothing lasts forever.

New AG Holder: When it comes to race, America is a “nation of cowards”

and we are going to make sure you people get all the diversity WE deserve, wheather you need it or not. We will give amnesty to all the illegals, welfare to all the oppressed blacks, none of whom can even remember slavery, and have been given everything on a silver platter, from jobs they dont qualify for, to mortgages they cant pay back, now our savior obama will pay for it all, on the backs of “whitey” because of shit that happened in the 1800’s.

welcome to the new age of reparations

Perhaps, Mr. Holder, you should take a look in the mirror, for goodness’ sake, to see who the real cowards over the past several decades have truly been.

So all those whites who voted for Dear Leader out of white guilt are racists? OK. Personally I vote for a politicians ideas, not the color of his skin.

And Ed, you forgot that the last two Sec. of State were black. And Powell was also chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Yes, indeed tommylotto! Remember during the inauguration when that preacher said “When white will do what is right”? That is exactly where we are going with this one. Electing a half-black man didn’t end racism in this country, it just gave those that depend on racism for a living a new avenue of approach to fatten their wallets.

You RACIST!

right2bright on February 18, 2009 at 4:13 PM

OK. Time for us to speak up about race! I’m fed up with all of the talk about white “racism,” when blacks voted almost unanimously on the basis of race!

I’m tired of hearing about how blacks can’t make it in this world, when every other race can.

I’m tired of them complaining about black on black crime, while they make it SOP to kill any “snitch” in the neighborhood.

I’m tired of blacks freeloading, like the ones who “never thought this day would come” when they didn’t have to worry about putting gas in their car, or paying their mortgage,” or the Maryland congresswoman who didn’t care that her state was broke, as long as Obama was the president.

I’m tired of hearing about how we need to spend more on schools in inner cities when the real problem is in the broken homes of lazy parents and lazy students.

I’m tired of people like a black neighbor I once had who yelled at my wife when I was out of town, that we were “racist,” because my kid told his kid he was “obnoxious.” Weeks later, when he was evicted for not paying his mortgage, a few neighbors helped move his furniture to a storage facility. Suddenly we looked around and he was gone. Turns out he went to eat lunch at McDonald’s while we moved his furniture.

I’m tired of “set asides” or minority participation rules for construction in black cities, that funnels loads of money into a few sham companies with white fronts, rampant with kick backs to black politicians.

I don’t think Holder, Obama, or many blacks would like a really, true discussion about race.

Star20 on February 18, 2009 at 4:13 PM

As a bigoted white guy coward I guess I’m nervous now that there’s an olive skinned Dude in the thread. I’ll try to strike up a conversation. “Hey, er, my Man. Are you er, down with it?”

I do want to make the AG proud of me.

hawkdriver on February 18, 2009 at 4:13 PM

Cowards? Please. I think we’ve talked it to death. Why do the Democrats and blacks have to keep bringing it up all the time as an issue?

We have a black president. A black AG. We’ve had TWO black Sec. of state and a now a black leader of the RNC. When will it ever be enough?

JAM on February 18, 2009 at 4:13 PM

For a generation, the white-collar liberals who now dominate the Democratic Party have shown a remarkable ability to dress up their own economic interests in the rhetoric of globalization and anti-racism while attacking the motives and assaulting the characters of Americans who are far less wealthy and privileged. They conveniently forget to pay taxes for their illegal-immigrant maids and nannies, and then they denounce fellow citizens who can’t afford servants as Nazi-like xenophobes for insisting that all immigrants, not just some, obey federal immigration laws. They use their status as alumni of elite universities to get their mediocre children admitted by means of legacy programs (class-based affirmative action), and then they blame racism when working-class and middle-class whites criticize race-based affirmative action. They benefit from a regulated national labor market that effectively restricts the number of lawyers, MBAs and teachers allowed to practice in the US, and then they altruistically offer to sacrifice the livelihoods of American factory workers to help out the Chinese poor and to put American farms out of business to help the African poor. They claim that by living in expensive doorman buildings in fashionable downtowns and using uneconomical, taxpayer-subsidized mass transit they are saving the planet from global warming, and then they criticize working-class Americans with a fraction of their incomes who can only afford to live in exurbs and shop at Sam’s Club as sprawl-creating slobs.

So, you want to talk about race?
70, 60, 6 years, 4.

So some of the questions to these answers are:
What percent of black women have children but no husband?
What are the odds of ending up in jail?
The average age difference in an early death?
High School drop out rate?

It’s the same old nonsense about having an “honest” conversation on race, which typically means agreeing root and branch with the leftist position on any policy issue that touches that subject (e.g., illegal immigration) on penalty of being called a racist.

Obama acolytes lauded him for engaging the country in a converstation about race in his speech last March. But the only matter at issue at the time was his relationship with that lying, hateful, despicable pastor of his. Obama acolytes were all too happy to shift the discussion to America’s past sins and away from Obama and Wright. But I’ve never gotten over how he never explained his presence in that jerk’s church and dismissed it somehow by equating Wright with his grandmother.

Neither Obama nor Holder has the moral authority to take up the subject of race in this country.

BuckeyeSam on February 18, 2009 at 4:19 PM

christene on February 18, 2009 at 4:23 PM

2 things…
First, I think reparations are the absolute RIGHT thing to do! I think that we should find everyone in America who ever owned a slave, and make them pay! They, not their legacy, should pay 75% of their net worth to any slave that they owned, but not the legacy of the slave!
Second, the Republican party missed the boat BIG TIME! W should have resigned immediately following the election, making Cheney the president. Cheney should have appointed Condy as his Vice, and then HE should have stepped down! Thus the Republicans could have had the first Black AND first Female president!

Holder is sooooo….. passe. He’s so J Jackson, Sharpton, et al. Such a leftover.

The fact that people don’t talk about race means that many are not obsessed with it and don’t really care.

As someone else said in an earlier post, Holder needs to look in the mirror (along with many others) to see who the racist is. Of course, race peddling is profitable and politically necessary for this ‘post racial’ administration.

fumpbump on February 18, 2009 at 4:25 PM

So our politically correct Attorney General charges that we are “essentially a nation of cowards”. It seems as though Mr. Holder was stung by fair critique of his vetting of the Marc Rich and Peurto Rican terrorist pardons.

Holder said, but “we, as average Americans, simply do not talk enough with each other about race.”

He urged people of all races to use Black History Month as a chance for frank talk about racial matters.

“It is an issue we have never been at ease with and, given our nation’s history, this is in some ways understandable,” Holder said. “If we are to make progress in this area, we must feel comfortable enough with one another and tolerant enough of each other to have frank conversations about the racial matters that continue to divide us.”

Sure! This guy really wants to let non-black Americans freely speak their minds about fatherlessness among African Americans, or about black on white crime and black on Hispanic crime, never mind immorality and economic and social costs of affirmative action.

As Obama’s snake oil starts to be seen through

If scarin’ folks dont do the trick

With Harry and Nancy he likes to whore
Wont be forever till more and more know the score
Neville Chamberlain he would never emulate
As he thinks that he thought too small and gave too little too late
When it comes to preaching hate
The Obama team just can’t wait

If this rhyme seems disjoint
That it takes doing that to adequately describe Obama’s nature may be yet another point

Funny. When I think of racial cowards, I think of Barack Obama at Jeremiah Wright’s church, sitting there week after week, year after year, saying nothing about the separatist demagoguery echoing from the pulpit to the pews.

When I think of racial cowards, I think of all the navel-gazers who fret about poisonous racial dialogue, but say nothing about “My President Is Black” bigotry.

When I think of racial cowards, I think of the people cowed by mau-mau-er Al Sharpton — now attacking the NYPost over a cartoon lampooning that crazy dead chimp.

When I think of racial cowards, I think of the folks who enable p.c. thugs to cry racism over “That One” and “Thug Thizzle” and “tricked out.”

Holder doesn’t want an honest dialogue about race. In the Age of Obama, “talking enough with each other about race” means the rest of us shutting up while being subjected to lectures about our insensitivity and insufficient integration on the weekends.
