Flashback: Founder of Muslim TV station who beheaded wife talks about “understanding”

posted at 4:05 pm on February 17, 2009 by Allahpundit

Grim irony circa 2004 via TV Newser, made doubly creepy by the cameo from victim Aasiya Hassan. The deed was done right there in the Bridges TV studio, evidently while Hassan was on the phone with her sister:

Firfirey said she and her husband, Amier, 49, were talking to her sister, Aasiya, 37, on the telephone last Thursday, when they heard her tell her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, to calm down and that they could talk the following day about the divorce.

Then they heard sounds that sounded like her sister was struggling to breathe.

Below you’ll find him wishing for a “better understanding” between American and Islamic culture. Based on NOW’s reaction, I’d say he got his wish. Exit quotation: “We’ve been told that there’s no place for that kind of action in their faith, but I wouldn’t say that there’s anything that’s being completely ruled out at this point.” Click the image to watch.

Guess we just need a little more, “understanding…”

There are few circumstances which justify summary judgement. This is one.

This reminds me of this rather chilling scene from The Shining:

Delbert Grady: Your son has a very great talent. I don’t think you are aware how great it is. That he is attempting to use that very talent against your will.
Jack Torrance: He is a very willful boy.
Delbert Grady: Indeed he is, Mr. Torrance. A very willful boy. A rather naughty boy, if I may be so bold, sir.
Jack Torrance: It’s his mother. She, uh, interferes.
Delbert Grady: Perhaps they need a good talking to, if you don’t mind my saying so. Perhaps a bit more. My girls, sir, they didn’t care for the Overlook at first. One of them actually stole a pack of matches, and tried to burn it down. But I “corrected” them sir. And when my wife tried to prevent me from doing my duty, I “corrected” her.

Another fine contribution from Islams culture-honor killings. Victims of honor killings are rarely killed quickly; rather they are raped, mutiliated, and tortured, often with the the knowledge and help of family members – brothers, mothers, uncles…

I was in Iraq in 2005 with an Engineer Brigade. We built a school that was supposed to be a co-ed school. When it was finished and we had the ribbon cutting, our chief engineer (female) sat down with the Iraqi engineer and the Sheik. The two Iraqis said that it was going to be an all boys school. When asked by Paula if they didn’t want their daughters to have an education and to have some of the same opportunities as their sons, they stated that the only thing that girls needed to be educated on is how to please a man, and they knew all there was to know by age TWELVE!
I think that is all I need to understand about their culture! Well, that and the proper point of aim.

Liberty or Death on February 17, 2009 at 5:10 PM

The Qur’an says: “Men shall take full care of women with the bounties which God has bestowed more abundantly on the former than on the latter, and with what they may spend out of their possessions. And the righteous women are the truly devout ones, who guard the intimacy which God has [ordained to be] guarded. And as for those women whose ill-will you have reason to fear, admonish them [first]; then leave them alone in bed; then beat them…” (4:34)

The Islamic prophet Muhammad was once told that “women have become emboldened towards their husbands,” whereupon he “gave permission to beat them” (Sunan Abu Dawud, book 11, no. 2141). He was unhappy with the women who complained, not with their husbands who beat them.

Muhammad even struck his favorite wife, Aisha. One night, thinking she was asleep, he went out. Aisha surreptitiously followed him. When he found out what she had done, he hit her: “He struck me on the chest which caused me pain, and then said: Did you think that Allah and His Apostle would deal unjustly with you?” (Sahih Muslim, book 4, no. 2127).

Imagine the mental environment where murder of family members is a duty to maintain decorum. Imagine what sort of twisted familial love survives the execution of such a custom? In some areas of the Ummah it is the duty of the youngest male in the family to be the executioner. A father may squish out and pass the duty over to a brother or uncle. As has been alluded to earlier they can become grotesque rape/torture session murders.

But what can you do when the population thirsts for diversity? Not include the followers of Islam? That would be rude.

I’ll just note that islam is a religion founded by a man who claimed to hear voices and have visions- so he hijacked Christianity and Judaism and claimed to add to it by perverting most of it.

Then you have the fact that this man (who muslims pray peace be upon him) was A NUTJOB MASS MURDERER.

The idea that islam is a religion of peace is insanity. You can’t be of peace if your founder was a murderer of men, women, and children. That Jesus guy never hurt a soul, and he surely never killed anyone.

If Charles Manson, who never killed anyone himself, started a religion based on the OT with some whacky additions, we’d call his followers insane nuts. If a man named mohammed, who actually killed people himself, does it the world demands we accept them as just like us. I disagree with anyone who says there is a such thing as a moderate muslim. A muslim is one who daily praises a god created by a mass murderer- I want no part of that insanity.

TheBlueSite on February 17, 2009 at 5:41 PM

Have we had any comment on this murder by Muslim authorities? How about the Imam of the mosque the killer attended?

The failure of so-called ‘moderate’ Moslems to speak out against, and condemn, atrocities performed by Moslems under the guise of ‘religious’ rules is stark testimony to the underlying reality and motivations of the members of this culture.

As I was visiting different news websites this morning, I was struck by how many of them omitted the word “Muslim” from the headline about this story. “Television Exec Beheads Wife,” “NY T.V. Station Owner Beheads Wife,” “Man Accused of Beheading Wife,” etc.

Are they afraid of being politically incorrect, like those newspaper articles that warn women of rapists on the loose, and then provide a description of the rapist that omits the rapist’s race (because that might contribute to a racial stereotype, or some other such nonsense)?

Or are they just plain afraid?

AZCoyote on February 17, 2009 at 5:48 PM

Have we had any comment on this murder by Muslim authorities? How about the Imam of the mosque the killer attended?

Like clockwork, with any article covering an honor killing in the US, there is invariably a quote from a Muslim official who denies that there is any link to Islam, instead drawing focus to domestic violence in general and how it crosses over all faiths.

It’s their dirty little secret and they want to keep it that way.

Muslim women who want to live as free women don’t need an order of protection, they need a gun.

Back to the real world, where I believe normal men have a natural instinct to protect normal women, and where our differences complement each other rather than make one inferior, the real culprit is the misogynistic doctrine of Islam.

But that Melissa girl can keep telling herself that her lack of male companionship is by choice rather than her failure to groom and get a decent pair of glasses.

A horrible miscalculation, that will culminate into much fear when they find themselves at the point of a sword.

CynicalOptimist on February 17, 2009 at 6:28 PM

Foxnews.com has an updated article on this and this part is interesting:

M. Zuhdi Jasser, founder and chairman of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy, agreed with Chesler.

“It certainly has all the markings of [an honor killing],” Jasser told FOXNews.com. “She expressed through the legal system that she was being abused, and at the moment she asked for divorce, she’s not only murdered — she’s decapitated.”

“The most dangerous aspect of this case is to simply say it’s domestic violence,” Jasser told FOXNews.com.

This is something new. Usually the Muslim official wants us to believe it’s just a case of domestic abuse.

CarolynM on February 17, 2009 at 6:36 PM

CarolynM on February 17, 2009 at 6:36 PM

Zuhdi Jasser is one of about two moderate Muslims Glenn Beck frequently puts on to prove that the problem is not Islam but its interpretation by radicals.

Jasser seems like a nice fellow, but he doesn’t reflect the views of most Muslim scholars.

And, although I like Glenn, he needs to realize that there may be moderate Muslims but there is no moderate Islam.

Plenty. From CNN:

Firfirey, as well as a Pakistani woman identifying herself as another of Aasiya Hassan’s sisters, characterized her as living in fear.

Firfirey said the last time she saw her sister was in May 2008, when she visited South Africa. When she arrived, she was badly injured, and Firfirey’s family paid the equivalent of about $3,000 for her to be treated, she said.

Aasiya Hassan returned to America, she said, because she wanted to complete her MBA degree and “didn’t want to leave her children with that monster.” She said she calls Muzzammil Hassan “the fat man with evil eyes.”

Aasiya Hassan would have graduated March 6, Firfirey said.

A woman in Pakistan using the name Salma Zubair posted on a blog that she is the sister of “this brutally murdered woman.”

She lived her 8 years of married life with fear in heart,” Zubair wrote. “He had already frightened her enough that she couldn’t muster up her guts and leave him, and when she finally did gather that much strength he killed her so brutally. She lived to protect her children from this man and his family and she died doing so.”

She said Aasiya Hassan “had always been a very loving person, not even one person in this world can say a small wrong word about her … she had always dreamed a life of a happily married family, which she did her best to achieve.”
