On exit question - Senator Specter will be looking for a job in two years.

This fairness doctrine on the internet isn't going to happen unless better tube technology is in the porkulus package. I'll part with a quote from ex-Senator Stevens on speaking of the internet. Quote from wikipedia.

"Ten movies streaming across that, that Internet, and what happens to your own personal Internet? I just the other day got...an Internet was sent by my staff at 10 o'clock in the morning on Friday. I got it yesterday [Tuesday]. Why? Because it got tangled up with all these things going on the Internet commercially.
[...] They want to deliver vast amounts of information over the Internet. And again, the Internet is not something that you just dump something on. It's not a big truck. It's a series of tubes. And if you don't understand, those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your message in, it gets in line and it's going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material."

I don't believe that they will be able to hold this back if it comes to censorship. There are too many people wired in and armed and all of the older gun owners have seen the stealth BS gun tactics in other countries. You start tromping on gun owners and radio and there will be Unintended Consequences by John Ross. A good book that should be read by all.

What does this mean? Are we going to be tested to see who really read what? This is a far cry from “Congress shall make no law …abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. I guess I missed the clause that said “except to insure fairness.” But then again Liberals live in Hope.

"For those of you who have doubted me and my alarmist view in the past… I’m waiting for my apology. The day IS HERE. The radical are now at the door to the Constitution.

Who is ready to fight? Who has now seen the light? No longer is it IF they will kill our voice, it’s WHEN."

Mark,

What can we do? Most of us are just hard working Americans who are trying to raise our families. Many of us try to practice our rights to free speech and religion in peace. I am as appalled as you are that the leftists are taking over the entire country. They have been doing this little by little for years. Now that they have power over both houses, the executive, and most of the courts, they don't want to lose their power so they are trying to silence their opposition (aka. us). So, what can we do? I feel helpless to do anything. Apparently the government do not care what are views are on any of this (the pork bill, etc). We are the ones that are to be controlled.

I see similarities in how these leftists are acting in the government to how they have been acting in the universities, schools, media, and sadly the Church. Within my own church, many leftists have taken over the dioceses, the schools, and many of them are sadly bishops. They use the same tactics everywhere they go..take control and silence any opposition with NO regard to the views of the people that they control. We are nothing to them.

What are your suggestions? What can we do to stop this naked usurpation of power by the leftists?

Liberalism cannot stand the light of day when an articulate conservative voice can be heard.

Why even call it liberalism? They're socialists.

Liberalism cannot stand the light of day when an articulate conservative voice can be heard.

The libs have a commanding lead in the house and senate and they hold the White House. What are they afraid of?

Once despots gain power they immediately work to destroy the very engines that brought them to power.

Power, not freedom is thier goal.

Exit question: If the FCC imposes it on the Net, which lefty should Hot Air hire to ensure “Fairness”?

A committed leftist islamic thinker like Ayman al-Zawahri. His take on outreach cutting to the core of his critics would be most interesting.

They are already doing it here in Maine. the one FM radio station that carried a local morning show that blasted the maine GOV. plus it had rush, savage, ingrham. one day the station was gone this past fall with no explanation. and a sports radio was in its place. A new radio station just pop up the voice of maine but it is not near a conservitive as the other one was.
