Quotes of the day
posted at 10:35 pm on February 16, 2009 by Allahpundit
“[T]his kind of partisanship doesn’t just come from Republicans, all the ones who turned their opposition to this stimulus package into a holy war. It comes from the Democrats as well, all those who keep getting in Obama’s way…
This isn’t about them because it is about Obama, the one guy who can get us out of this, whom the country believes in even as it is told constantly that he is some kind of raw rookie in over his head, who wants to do what great Presidents are supposed to do in times of crisis, which means lead, and inspire, and make brave decisions, and make the country confident again.”
*
“With loony jihadists threatening from without, a crumbling economy terrorizing its citizens from within, Obama knew he needed straightaway to demonstrate utmost competence to stem fear and instill confidence. The reason for his wanting to assemble an able cabinet more quickly than any other administration in recent history was to show that, though the nation had major problems, they were under study and would soon be attacked by the most capable minds of our time. He needed to calm the country down, and show, in a measured but forceful way, that a strong hand was at the wheel.
This he has thus far failed abysmally to do. Very disappointing, to the country at large, and not least, I have no doubt, to Barack Obama himself.”

Geez, wasn’t it Obama who said we were doomed and that the sky was falling, and that we were going to go into the worst depression in our Country’s history if we did not pass the stimulus package? I think this guy is a bit confused about who’s who here.
Okay, and he’s not qualified! Just because the Republicans are against Obama’s policies and much of the stupid legislation he is proposing does not mean they are doing it just to oppose him for the sake of opposing! He doesn’t know what he is doing, the adolescents have taken over the government, and the adults are trying to save them from themselves, but they just won’t listen. Guess they, (and unfortunately the whole Country), will have to learn from the school of hard knocks, just like all immature kids do. Too bad he is taking us all down with him.

Lupica – you know baseball but you really have no idea about politics… Let me put it in terms you will understand:
Our country is a big baseball game. Right now the home team (The Democrats) have Obama on the mound, he is a lot like Clemens, everyone knows he is dirty but his fans don’t care. Behind the plate is Ray Schalk, the worst catcher in history. He is a lot like Nancy Pelosi, and given her physical appearance, I suspect both were members of the 1919 “Black Sox”. A good catcher always takes the heat for their pitcher hitting batters and that is what Pelosi is doing – now she may be calling the pitches but Obama isn’t shaking her off. On first base you will find none other than Big Mac, he is a lot like Reid, ya know both seem like honest folks on the surface but Reid is all Roid’ed up on pork, and like MacGuire a liar and a cheat. They are both Record setters – Reid got that 8billion for his railway a record in pork. Neither have honest records.
At second base for the Democrats is Biden, mostly because like VP, anyone can play second. Biden is kind of like Craig Nettles who was known for his quick wit and illegal bat filled with superballs… the way Biden is so gaffe-tastic & funny, and there was that little incident of plagerism – but he’s still a player! At Shortstop Charlie Rangel, he is like Danny Almonte – you remember that kid who lied about his age in the Little League Word Series? Yeh, they have a lot in common – Both caught in big lies but they go on as if nothing ever happened. At Third base none other than Rahm Emmanuel, who is frighteningly like Pete Rose, agile, driven, talented and the dirtiest player the game has ever seen. Both would slide head first into their own mothers to get what they want.
In the Outfield – of course Specter, Collins & Snowe. They show up for the game in the other team’s uniforms but always seem to play for the Democrats. It confuses and angers the fans.
The owner and manager is George Soros, and frankly no owner manager in baseball history is like him – well maybe this guy but not as funny. Your Umpire crew for the evening will be: Olberman behind the plate, Matthews, Maddow and Curic in the field. They will call a fair game, no doubt.
Lupica – stick to baseball. You stood up against the Steroid Era, stand up now man – or at least wake up.

Sen. Gregg withdrew, citing “irreconcilable differences” over the stimulus package. The more important reason was because the president had made it clear Sen. Gregg was just to be window dressing. The Commerce secretary has only one important job, to oversee the decennial census. If illegal aliens are counted as citizens, several House seats could be shifted from the Republicans to the Democrats after the next reapportionment. Cheating is the Chicago Way, but Sen. Gregg is both honest and a Republican. He couldn’t be counted on to cheat. So the president announced oversight of the census would be shifted to the White House. This is probably illegal, and it made Sen. Gregg look like a chump. So he did the only thing an honorable man could do.

You are more right than you know. Think back on ESPN and Rush. Sportswriter is the one place that white men can not make a living if they are out and out kissing up to blacks. If you think the general population PC is bad think of an environment where poor to medium income blacks (some bitter at whites)mingle with upper-middle class educated whites who need their gratitude. At the end of the process you get this guy.

RadioFreeUSA on February 17, 2009 at 6:14 AM
Not to belabor the point and beat a dead horse, but is anyone really surprised by all of this? Pelosi and Reid haven’t even attempted to hide their agenda since taking power in ’06. Obambi and Rahm excelled at Chicago style politics. And too many Republicans have shown a propensity over the last 10 yrs to not only work with Democrats/Socialists, but to prove that they too can pander to every special interest group and bring home the bacon.

Who’s “we”? The morons who think choosing a President is like choosing the next American Idol? The parasites who think that now that Obama’s President he’s going to pay for their gas? Yeah, a regular brain trust you got going over there. Remember that neocons are former liberals who grew up, in a Hegelian “overcoming” of the limitations of liberalism. If you weren’t so wet behind the ears (“boy”, indeed, and I’m sure you must be “athens” georgia because Socrates would wipe the floor with your “logic”), you’d know that. Obama’s entire approach to governance is a rearguard action looked at from a world-historical perspective.

Ah, a collection of moronic lefty talking points, delivered with all the grace and elan of an emergency Ex-Lax dump. Let’s hear it for open registration.
Anyhow. I don’t think you’re allowed to publish an article in Newsweek, no matter how contrapuntal to the prevailing wisdom, without at least one ridiculous error:
Guess Joseph Epstein missed this one: “What they’re going to try to do is make you scared of me. ‘You know, he doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills.’”
Jim Treacher on February 17, 2009 at 7:53 AM
My “younger self” made all of the leftist arguments put forth by our trolls, only in more persuasive and articulate ways, of course. The problem was that deep down the “answers” leftism provides are intellectually unsatisfying, as well as being at odds with the law of the land as embodied by the Constitution, so I clearly could not remain “on the left”.
Many conservative commentators have noted that the right knows the left’s arguments fairly intimately, having been exposed to them in school and the media, while often times having gone through a period of youthful leftism as well, whereas the left has no earthly clue what conservatism’s core doctrines (individual liberty, limited government property rights, low taxes, strong defense, etc.) mean or where they come from. One reason a person like David Horowitz drives the left so nuts is that he is a living contradiction of the leftist conceit that once a person becomes a leftist there is no need for any further intellectual or moral development.

During the debate of Porkulus, Barry was telling any microphone that slowed down enough, that we had to have this bill or the economy would collapse. There was no more time for debate.

They should have proposed a viable alternative instead of indulging in powerless pouting.

He put together a cabinet the Chicago-way: payoffs, corruptions, bribes, payoffs, corruptions, paybacks, blah blah.
