Quotes of the day

“[T]his kind of partisanship doesn’t just come from Republicans, all the ones who turned their opposition to this stimulus package into a holy war. It comes from the Democrats as well, all those who keep getting in Obama’s way…

This isn’t about them because it is about Obama, the one guy who can get us out of this, whom the country believes in even as it is told constantly that he is some kind of raw rookie in over his head, who wants to do what great Presidents are supposed to do in times of crisis, which means lead, and inspire, and make brave decisions, and make the country confident again.”

*
“With loony jihadists threatening from without, a crumbling economy terrorizing its citizens from within, Obama knew he needed straightaway to demonstrate utmost competence to stem fear and instill confidence. The reason for his wanting to assemble an able cabinet more quickly than any other administration in recent history was to show that, though the nation had major problems, they were under study and would soon be attacked by the most capable minds of our time. He needed to calm the country down, and show, in a measured but forceful way, that a strong hand was at the wheel.

This he has thus far failed abysmally to do. Very disappointing, to the country at large, and not least, I have no doubt, to Barack Obama himself.”

Mike Lupica, the baseball guy?

Ummm…Allah. Are you okay? I hope you don’t have HopeNChange Fevah too. But, then again, I really have no idea what you’re really trying to imply here. I guess I’ll just have to wait for the other commenters’ say on this.

If Obi the One were as great as his worshipers claim, it wouldn’t matter who was standing in his way. The One would simply shoot lightning bolts out his arse and clear the road…

Ace ODale on February 16, 2009 at 10:41 PM

Wow, Mike Lupica should stick to sports. What a tool.

“[T]his kind of partisanship doesn’t just come from Republicans, all the ones who turned their opposition to this stimulus package into a holy war. It comes from the Democrats as well, all those who keep getting in Obama’s way…

So partisanship has now been redefined by Mr. Lupica to mean those in support of B.O. and those against. No longer is it liberal-conservative or Democrat-Republican. Nope. Now, partisanship is pro-B.O. or anti-B.O.

8 years of ridiculous BDS and now we have to go through 8 years of this ridiculous, gushing Obama worship. Just f***ing wonderful. And we’re not even through one month of this sh**. Oy…

Okay. I read the other quote, and now, I sort of get it. I’m assuming you’re trying to get at the whole “Obama is God” expectations thing again.

That’s also what was said about Hitler. How did that work out?

CrusaderRabbit on February 16, 2009 at 10:48 PM

Ya, he’s really making the country confident.

Fear mongering and constantly lowering expectations doesn’t raise confidence. But that’s part of the plan isn’t it?

Tell the part again about how he is going save or create XXX jobs.

He’s still an empty suit who is in WAY over his head.

Victims of the general ineptitude that the Obama administration has so quickly shown are transparency in government and the new (we hardly knew ye) bipartisanship. The stimulus package itself is felt to be suspect.

Yeah… “felt to be” suspect… the understatement of the day.

Personally, I don’t think the One is the least bit disappointed. He has created even more crisis by the way he handled Wall Street and the banks. Seems to me that was Job 1 well done from his POV.

genso on February 16, 2009 at 11:02 PM

This just illustrates how stalinist/totalitarian “Dear Leader” Obamessiah is… He can’t stand the fact that ANYONE in Congress will vote against him.

Even on a bill that he is pre-ordained to win, thanks to their control of Congress and the 3-4 built in traitors in the GOP Senate ranks.

Obama believes that there should be NO opposition to anything he sends on.

What the hell is he going to do when there is something FAR more contentious than Porkulus (after all Congress loves to spend money)?

Is he going to go insane on national TV?

Hah! The voice, without question. This will bug me all night now because I know I’ve thought of someone with a closer physical resemblance–but I can’t remember it. In the meantime, Miles Silverberg will do.

Before I knew Obama’s name
And heard his wail and whinin’
I had a country and it had me
And the sun was always shinin’

But then one day He and Congress betrayed me
And left me far behind them
And now I’m lost, so gone and lost
Not even God can find me

Three weeks in and already loses Cabinet Picks to tax cheating, filpflops on lobbyist, flubs press conf, and bangs his head on AF1. If obama wobbles anymore, he’ll get pulled over for DUI. genso on February 16, 2009 at 11:05 PM

He’s already been shown to be prone to fits of rage AND that he’s “Obambi” when he lacks his teleprompter.

Obama is the most shallow President in our history. He’s inexperienced. He’s naive. And his ideas are of course completely wrong. Something that makes him blow up is inevitable given his thin skin.

Yes, this is eventually GOING to happen. And the lapdog media will cover it up.

IMHO, there is a reason why a “Dem a day” has been coming out in favor of the Censorship Doctrine. It’s to insure that Dear Leader has no opposing media AT ALL when that moment comes.

wildcat84 on February 16, 2009 at 11:09 PM

Posters on the Daily News’ website make a habit of noting that Lupica’s sports and news columns are among the few where comments on stories are not allowed. So that gives you an idea of how the paper’s regular readers must feel about some of the Keith Olbermann wanna-be stuff he posts.

(Actually, Lupica is the Bizzaro World version of the Daily News’ former star sports columnist Dick Young, who was attacked in the 50s, 60s and 70s for inserting too much right-wing commentary into his columns. And I’m pretty sure Mike’s ego would not take a Dick Young comparison as a compliment, though at least he’s smart enough here to figure out that Obama’s gonna be eviscerated in the long-run if he doesn’t get Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank and the other congressional far left types under control.)

jon1979 on February 16, 2009 at 11:09 PM

Oh dear. Sorry for dragging Godwin’s Law into this, but substitute “Hitler” for “Obama” and you have something Goebbels would have said. This cult of personality stuff is creepy. The “one guy who can get us out of this”. Puh-leez. One of the creepiest things is that the O-bots don’t have an inkling as to how utterly creepy they are.

He needed to calm the country down, and show, in a measured but forceful way, that a strong hand was at the wheel.

The thermometer is going lower, more than it went higher before.
Time there was warmth and plenty, but that cup soon runneth no more.
Though we could not caution all, we still might warn a few:
Dont lend your hand to raise no flag atop no ship of fools.

Ship of fools on a cold cruel sea, ship of fools sail away from we.
It was later than we thought, when we first might have believed as you,
Now we cannot share your delusions, ship of fools.

If you haven’t noticed, most of the awards for books, movies, documentaries, etc, all go to those who make such that no one read, saw, etc.

In other words, to themselves.

Which is why they are SO spooked by the fact that they can’t compete in talk radio, a medium where their lack of logic is unable to be overcome by images, and Fox News, the only TV news channel that bothers to even acknowledge that conservatives exist and aren’t evil.

Their house of cards can’t stand any breath of opposition, lest it fall.

Oops…….. “Obama’s Transparent Government” isn’t quiet what he promised it would be, is it?

Naysayers in media and partisans in both parties are undermining Obama

Hell, Yes!!! I did not believe in him, I do not believe in him, and will never believe in him. I did not want him, I don’t want him, and will never want him. Obama is exposed as the sham he is and for the sham he wants to pull over on America. I knew he would be bad and will continue to fight him and undermine him at every nook, cranny and turn. The man is toxic to America and must be stopped by any means at our disposal.

izoneguy on February 16, 2009 at 11:17 PM

I think you are spot on, but I think it will not happen quickly enough to stop most of his plans, especially as they are being rammed through so fast. Bottom line…we’re going to have a lot of cleaning up to do after the children get through playing.

The irony is, that The Obamessiah is literally doing his best to create that opportunity for us.

When Porkulus fails to do anything except re-create Carternomics (ie: astronomical inflation, interest rates, AND unemployment) people would normally be chomping at the bit to throw out his party. Which I think could happen in 2010, at least in the House.

Which is why he WILL try to implement the “Censorship Doctrine” soon as he can. Unfortunately the courts are far more likely to discover universal right to abortion than they are to interpret “Congress shall make NO LAW” as meaning that they can’t restrict ANY political speech…

Let’s get with the program. Nothing is Obama’s fault. Nothing will ever be his fault. If everyone would just shut up – let him do whatever he wants – all would be right with the world. But if anyone really feels we should question him – well then, how do we expect him to succeed. So, just leave him alone – blind obedience is the way of the future. Now, repeat until you get it. “We will not question, we will not doubt, we will not ask”. Now pass around the Kool Aide and move on.

If it hasn’t already sunk in, it soon will that the choice was to offer tax breaks to businesses that create long term jobs or to speend money on government stimuated jobs which will end when the stimulus funding runs out.

And when that reality sinks in it will be the beginning of the end for this undeserving know-nothing presidency.

Nevermind the other branches of goverment and 300 million people, the fate of the country depends on ONE guy? Just one? Oh, and this is the best we can do? From articles like Lupica’s to the Obama image in the Google search engine when you sign on to AOL, this is getting more revolting by the day. Sink me!
Think ye, sir,
Of the goosie and the gander, sir
Which gender is the grander, sir
To render total candor, sir, the spendour is the male’s!
Be an example to your sex
Give your boot a dapper strap
And it’s smarter if your garter has some snap!
Cravats should be flounced about our necks
Wear a nightcap when you nap
Be bewitching with some stitching on your cap!
Now, drape your cape
And puff your cuff
Embroider those lapels!
Be the King of the Beasts in pastels!
La, but someone has to strike a pose
And bear the weight of well-tailored clothes
And that is why the Lord created men

Strut, sir!
What, sir?
Roosters do!
Give a cock his comb and the hens will pale!
Bucks! Bulls!
More, sir!
Boars, sir! Rams!
Of the nanny goat and billy, sir
Whose beard is fully wooly, sir?
It’s bully for the billy for he’s willy-nilly male!
Sir, be a lion-hearted prig
Fill those pantaloons with light!
I could dangle down a spangle out of sight!
Oh, yes! Be bold, sir!
When it’s cold, slap on that wig
Draw your britches in quite tight
Even more so, and your torso will ignite
Now, smock your frock
Perfume your plume
I’ll let my waistcoat swing!
And the jungle will bow to its king!

La, but someone has to strike a pose
And bear the weight of well-tailored clothes
And that is why the Lord created men
Yes, that is why the Lord created men
Remember what we’re here for
Why we must be dressed to kill
If we have to look like Cleopatra
Then we will!
If you’re out to make a splash, cheri,
Do know your haberdashery!
Buttons, buckles, ruffles and lace
Represent the human race!
La, but someone has to strike a pose
And bear the weight of well-tailored clothes
Each species needs a sex that’s fated
To be highly decorated
That is why the Lord created men

He acts like this because he is not truly in charge. Nancy Pelosi is. Plus, with all of the extra field trips he is taking outside of the White House, he probably figures, this is not as fun as I thought it would be. I want to go and do something else. I wish he would.

It’s astounding to me that a grown man can write such stuff.

Mike Lupica is a grown man physically, but mentally he has the maturity of a 12-year-old. He throws temper tantrums weekly on the set of The Sports Reporters.

What an appropriate song for the times.

I just checked, you’re right! What the heck is he doing in that?

“With loony jihadists threatening from without, a crumbling economy terrorizing its citizens from within,

So jihadists are just sanatarium candidates and it is our own economy that terrorizes us. No wonder we need to kill free enterprise.

So now at least one mystery is solved. We know where they got the plot for “‘Benjamin Button”.

I just watched an episode of “Medium” in which Patricia Arquette tosses off a casual line about “right-wing paranoid nutjobs, convinced the government is coming to take their liberties away.” Eight years of BDS right down the memory hole. Remember all those left-wing nutjobs who thought Bush was sitting in a darkened Oval Office with a laptop, going through their library book checkout lists and hunting for traitors? You’ll never hear about them again. All people who are paranoid about government intruding on their liberties were just trans-substantiated into “right wing nutjobs.” By the Fall 2009 TV season, you’ll have shows approvingly depicting heroic federal agents using warrantless wiretaps to catch anti-stimulus extremists. We’ve already seen how “dissent” went from the highest form of patriotism, to a shameful act of sedition, in a matter of weeks.

There’s nothing sadder, and more frightening, that watching a nation of children worship someone who’s too childish to tell them to stop doing it.

And Pelosi said, “I’m in the arena. I love it.”

We get that. If there’s life on Mars, they get it there, too. But somebody needs to explain to Pelosi once and for all that this isn’t about her. It was never about her. This isn’t her closeup, even though she so clearly thinks it is. There are too many over-the-hill House Democrats, the ones who stuffed some of the ridiculous fat into this bill in the first place, who think the exact same way.

This isn’t about them because it is about Obama, the one guy who can get us out of this, whom the country believes in even as it is told constantly that he is some kind of raw rookie in over his head, who wants to do what great Presidents are supposed to do in times of crisis, which means lead, and inspire, and make brave decisions, and make the country confident again.

A tragedy most Greek.

I’m not sure yet if this circus is from P.T. Barnum or something out of Clockwork Orange. As much as I despise Biden he did get something right when he said that a foreign power would be testing us soon. It’s nearly spring, folks, and that is the traditional start of a campaign season.

Putin, Chucky Chavez, Dinnerjacket, or Uncle Osama…one of them is gonna get froggy soon.

Hope and change. Be careful what you wish for.

I don’t get it. But then again I was never good with numbers.

“Undermining”

“Holy War”

If Obama was making actually Change to America,
that would be a positive Hope, however, when the
Left turns extreme Left, and hi-jacks the Liberal
Party, and those within their party, who disagrees
with Obama’s Socialist plans, become labelled as
‘Disbelievers’,Heretics!

Obama has sent the tone, during his campaigning,
of talk about his daughter and wife,he basically
openly threatened for those that do!!

But meanwhile,Obama has issued ‘Open Season’and
‘Search and Destroy Media missions on the RIGHT,
and fired the first shot over Rush Limbaughs Bow!

For Eight years the Left savagely attacked Bush, and
during the first bailout of 700 Billion dollars,Nancy Pelosi strutted to the well, and blamed,”8 years of
Failed Bush Policies”!(which is a crock of sh#t!)

Couple that with Obama’s war on the RIGHT,and their
whinning about Bipartisanship!

Liberals, have a look in the mirror!
