Heh: David Shuster introduces new nightly segment devoted to nutroots opinion

Don’t be too hard on him. For one thing, Shuster’s always been transparently liberal; you can’t say you were deceived. For another, the Foxies have become more overt about their own bias by dropping Colmes and plugging Beck in at 5 p.m. MSNBC might as well shows its cards, too. Above all, Olby’s been using Think Progress, Media Matters, and other watchdog sites for source material for ages, to the point where the Olby Watch guys make sure in their recaps of each episode of “Countdown” to note which blue blogs were the basis for which segments. See, e.g., this recent entertaining expose of Murrow’s “rip ‘n read” brand of, ahem, journalism. It’s about time these nutroots tools got some credit for all the free labor they’ve provided. I saw that too. And she stuck it to Obama on conventional energy.
I’m glad that at least one show (Greta) gives Palin a friendly platform. Palin did well tonight except for saying impacts [read impact] several times. She’s still a damn great lady.
BuckeyeSam on February 16, 2009 at 10:38 PM
And now that congress is controlled by Democorruptocapos getting a congressional subpoena will be something of a badge of honor.

You have Kernan, Kudlow and Art Cashin and a few floor traders that are fiscal conservatives, but they load up the guests with people like the Pimco guys and all sorts of elitists who, IMO, all supported Obama.

Why not? It’s closer to the truth than it isn’t.

I remenber when Shuster worked at fox.He did the reporting on Ken Starr on the Clinton case .He was wrong about a lot of things then just like now.He said back then he was leaving fox going to Msnbc on his own.But i heard later that fox fired him. He still looks and sounds flakey.

There’s just something really, really dirty about Talking Points Liberal saying, “notwithstanding…”
I’m shocked and awed that he didn’t then also exclaim, “clearly!”
Lourdes on February 16, 2009 at 10:47 PM
I guess Obama’s made more progress over the weekend in painting the White House orange, from the look of that backdrop.
Lourdes on February 16, 2009 at 10:48 PM
Typical mystifying posts from you.
Which networks? NBC? Oh, wait…same thing as MSNBC.
CBS? Definitely, with right-wingers like Dan Rather and Bob Schaefer…oh, darnit again.
CNN? Lord knows Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper are stout conserv…oops. I admit, at least Howard Kurtz is at least objective.
ABC is probably the closest to objective, with people like John Stossel and newcomer Jake Tapper on staff.
So which networks do “we” have, again?
MadisonConservative on February 16, 2009 at 10:49 PM
Gee, thanks for making the difference between them and us nonexistent.
MadisonConservative on February 16, 2009 at 10:50 PM
Probably the only message Colmes ever got, the one that said, “we the viewers would prefer to watch a progrma without you on it.”

Schuster is a total tool. He purports to have Heartland (Indiana) roots, but I bet he visits his roots only when it’s absolutely necessary.
If I were to meet him, I’d ask him the same question that Will Hunting asks one of the therapists (George Plimpton’s character) in Good Will Hunting.
As far as his looks go, he’s alway reminded me of a very old cartoon called Clutch Cargo in which the characters were very immobile, but they had lips that seemed to be human lips. If you look at Schuster’s face when he’s speaking, only his lips move. No blinking, no head movement, no nothing. It’s creepy.

The GOP had a leg to stand on when they did not support this bill. It is called history! Historically anytime the Government has tried to stimulate the economy, they have failed. Since MSNBC does not know history or they have a distorted view of it, they have no leg to stand on. href=”http://trenaway.blogspot.com”>

You’re right! They “don’t” have people who “don’t” dodge subpoenas. That means they do have people who do dodge subpoenas. And I see a bunch coming down the road if they do their jobs. Burris should be number one out of the cannon. Hmmmm?
hawkdriver on February 16, 2009 at 10:59 PM
Well I suppose that is one way to get viewers “hey I’ll mention you on TV if you watch my segment” looks desperate. Didn’t HLN have a segment they did from the web or was it CNN? HLN is MSNBC’S rival channel. FOX and CNN are in a different class of cable news. The ratings prove that. HLN and MSNBC dueling for the bottom.

Actually, not true. Hannity was and remains outspoken against illegal immigration and, unlike many in media, actually uses the correct term, “illegal alien” for those in the nation without legal context. O’Reilly doesn’t condone illegal immigration but has consistently said he’d “do the same thing” as illegal aliens if need be — he’s been far more accepting of the problem, in other words, and even advocated FOR a “guest worker program” as an possible tool to end/curtail the illegal alien problem.
Hannity’s been a strong proponent of border security, law enforcement, immigration law enforcement, an end to illegal immigration including being a supporter of deportation of illegals, all of them, when captured.

I’m seeing clips of the interview online. Uh, am I not hearing Palin clearly or did she say the other grandmother of the newborn baby was an alcoholic in this clip.
terryannonline on February 16, 2009 at 11:10 PM
Schuster always reminds me of that Grandpa Munster character, all except the wingtips in the hair by Grandpa but Schuster’s working his way there.
His accent even resembles Grandpa Munster (The Munsters). I have a very hard time thinking of Schuster as being from “Indiana.” Doesn’t even seem close based upon how he speaks and about what.
Lourdes on February 16, 2009 at 11:10 PM
Oh! This will be just great!/
How about the movie ‘Blog Wars’? I happened upon this documentary on Sundance this afternoon. There is a scene with Maxine Waters praising Left Wing Bloggers in 2006. She was giving them credit for making a big difference in the Leiberman/LaMont race. Libs have been drunk on power for a while now and they embrace the hate they’ve built up from “living under Republican rule.” I hate they will find out what being under the thumb of the gov’t really feels like soon. Leaders really think that the average liberal keyboard commando is effective.
*rolls eyes
There’s also a scene (just realizing many here probably have seen this) of MM being shouted down by a protester in Denver. My God!
I think it is time we start calling them all fascists! Given opportunity, they will have no mercy on us.

genso on February 16, 2009 at 11:16 PM
Sundance is washing away – trendy people eventually get tired of any routines and seek out “that which is now trendy” and avoid “that which was trendy” without much notice. In the case of Sundance and the Left’s ideas of what’s a cool movie (idea or otherwise), it’s also trending badly. The public by this point doesn’t want whatever the Left deems “cool.” It’s like a sign that says, “don’t watch this” whenever the Left starts oohing over a new film.
Lourdes on February 16, 2009 at 11:18 PM
No argument from me about that.
Note: Angelo Mozilo information.
Though I’d add Ted Kennedy and Chris Dodd (doing the “restaurant-waitress-bop”) in that grouping.
Lourdes on February 16, 2009 at 11:20 PM
Grandpa Munster. I love it. But I’m staying with Clutch Cargo. I’m more inclined to agree with your association of Grandpa Munster and Schumer. The noses are very similar.
Back to Schuster, I might agree if we learn that his family lived at 1313 Mockingbird Lane. What a great show!

How does Connecticut send Dodd to the Senate? I don’t care how plugged in he is, he’s a complete loser and a total weasel.
BuckeyeSam on February 16, 2009 at 11:25 PM
Will that rough and tumble Dave Shuster report on the challenge Betsy McCaughey Ross laid down to old man Olbermann?
Olbermann responded with a typically lame shot, but easily betrayed lardass’ fear of actually debating someone prepared to hand him his ass. Tucking tail and running is standard fare for the bully.
It’s great entertainment watching Oldermann play tough guy. The guy’s thin skinned (as is his idol Obama). I heard the crowd ridiculed grandpa at the Super Bowl. Poetic justice.

Yeah. I wasn’t watching Sundance on purpose. :) This movie came out in 2006. The blogosphere is an intricate part of the Dem’s power grab. They are high on power and they want to do to us what they think has been done to them.
I’ve said this before, BO and the left of today are everything they accused Bush and Conservatives of and worse.
Elektra on February 16, 2009 at 11:31 PM
We’ll, if he’s now giving the Koz Kidz and HuffPo’a talking points, I’d say he’s expanded his portfolio. I had always assumed (from his demeanor and viewpoint)that Shuster was there tp provide the metrosexual/GLAAD slant.

MSNBC is such a joke. Always losing in the ratings.
Jack Welch, the former CEO of GE, had a rule, either you were #1 or #2 in your business or you had to exit.
Unfortunately for GE’s stockholders, you are now allowed to be in LAST place and still get to be a GE business. But, these days, being a GE business is not longer a thing of honor.
The Wall on February 17, 2009 at 12:40 AM
Msnbc has such a limited audience that it should not merit a mention as a dignified news outlet.
The real news outlet is now the daily briefing at the White House.
There really is no need to monitor the spin miesters at GE. There is every reason in the world to monitor Obama’s mouth pieces and rapidly dissect and counter punch their SPIN.
MSNBC is not the problem. ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, NPR, et al are the problem.
You can take that to the bank.

MadisonConservative Your point is the basis of the problem with any tinkering with free speech or the information sources by the government. Such tinkering is worse with the left wing. They already have most MM in their pocket. But they see them as centrist.
However, if The One has a radical agenda, he must quash dissent. And unlike the comment about dragging people on the back of my truck, there is every reason to believe that he will eventually go there.
IlikedAUH2O on February 17, 2009 at 5:44 AM
Sabbot. The Dems won ONE election during an economic meltdown. Against the mighty Juan McLame! Congress and some urban areas remain in their control by handing out earmarks or “walk around money”. With the help of demographics, they are on trackng to take control but the last election was just another battle. They are not yet eight feet tall. But give them time.
Johan Klaus Fox is smooth, glitzy, wholesome, powerful and fair. Just like our country!

I like how the lefty blogger says “Most economists say we need to do something” as if that means they supported porkulus.
Most economists wanted something done, just not this corruption lined pork bill.
This PDF advertisement is signed by row after row of economists who opposed the porkulus. It appeared in the New York Post.

What a foul bunch of creatures control the political process and discourse these days. I wouldn’t leave either of those guys, or barney frank, chuck schumer or harry reid, alone in a room with children. Not only are they creepy and likely perverted, they are dumb as stumps. They got what they wanted, they got nearly unanimous democrat support in congress yet they still can’t get past that the republicans opposed the bill. They should be rejoicing that their they and and only they will get credit for solving the economic crisis.
When the revolution comes the hardest ticket to get will be the ones for the firing squad when guys like this go up against the wall.

Huge difference AP. BOR, Hannity, Beck, et.al., are opinion shows.
Shyster uses the guise of hard news to advance his agenda.
rightside on February 17, 2009 at 7:18 AM
I still think it troubling that so much of Fox’s programming is given to conservative/libertarian radio talkers (Hannity, Beck) and O’Reilly (who is sometimes conservative, sometimes liberal, and always a loud mouthed populist) — who incidentally, also does talk radio.
Fox earned its reputation and ratings by being a network that wasn’t afraid to give you conservative viewpoints and to cover hard news in a fair & balanced way. But Fox worked hard over the years to present a liberal perspective so that (1) the network would have cross-over appeal, particularly to independents, and (2) conservatives wouldn’t find themselves caught in an echo chamber. Our ideas are honed in the clash of ideas with the left. It’s best we not forget that.

Mainstreaming radicalism to shift the center leftward.
petefrt on February 17, 2009 at 7:41 AM
MSNBC are “journalists” who give their opinions. Fox are commentators who give their opinion. If msnbc were to offer conservative points of view, it would force them to argue thier liberal points and to ADMIT they are partisan commentators. This absence of opposing viewpoints allows them to continue their lie.

Let’s recap for a moment here…
Democrats have White House
Democrats have House of Reps
Democrats have Senate
Democrats will almost certainly make SCOTUS theirs too
soooo, what’s the point of attacking Republicans, conservatives, etc? I mean, really…? What’s awful and horrible things can the right DO?! Why bother other than to feed the animals?

I’ve been wondering for a long time why the nutr’s call themselves ‘progressive’. Regressive seems more like it since that’s where their policies usually lead.
jeanie on February 17, 2009 at 8:07 AM
Oh stop!! with ‘the Dems usually win’. Their power is RECENT! They’ve only been in power about 4 weeks, generally speaking. And, with luck, positive thinking, hard work and money, they’ll be out again sooner or later. Defeatism NEVER works. And promulgating it certainly won’t. Sheesh!! Don’t buy into their propaganda. For one thing, it let’s down those guys in the House who showed the way. For another, that kind of talk won’t galvanize the base.
jeanie on February 17, 2009 at 8:21 AM
Colmes quit on his own, and the Beck move was in the works before that announcement if my memory is correct. I’m suprised Colmes stayed as long as he did, having to night in and night out explain and defend Democrat theories and actions that up to that point was largely unknown by the general public. On top of that, constantly having to spin Conservative and Repulican theories and actions into a bad light even though Conservatives and Republicans weren’t ashamed or trying to hide them. Unlike the Democrats.
