Blago Watch: Patty in the crosshairs?

posted at 11:15 am on February 14, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

If the Blagojeviches thought that impeachment might slake the thirst of federal investigators, they were sorely mistaken.  The Chicago Tribune reports that feds dropped subpoenas on Patti Blagojevich’s former employer, which unceremoniously dumped her as soon as her husband joined the ranks of the unemployed.  Investigators appear interested in what Patti did for the Chicago Christian Industrial League, and it looks like … not much:

Sneed hears the feds delivered a subpoena to the Chicago Christian Industrial League Wednesday, which once employed former first lady Patti Blagojevich as its development director.

The upshot: Sneed is told the feds requested the files pertaining to Mrs. Blagojevich’s employment, which included any of her development deals.

The backshot: The former first lady was hired last September at a $100,000-a-year salary to lure new donors to the league, which provides transitional housing and job training for the homeless. The state-of-the-art shelter facility was where Mrs. Blagojevich worked until mid-January, when she was abruptly dismissed from her job. Since then, she has filed suit claiming the league violated her contract.

The league has a ready-made answer: non-performance.  According to Sneed’s sources, she didn’t bring in any new money at all.  Before Patti arrived, the League received between $10-15K in contributions.  After her arrival, they received $10-15K in contributions.

So why hire her at all?  Well, this is what the investigators wonder, too.  The League got a loan from Rod Blagojevich’s new agency, the Illinois Finance Authority, to the tune of almost $11 million.  They needed to get more contributions to repay it, but why hire Mrs. Gov to do it, especially since she turned out to be such a bust?  Anyone looking at this has to ask themselves whether the League hired her for this six-figure job as a payoff for the loan.  They certainly dumped her quickly enough when it became apparent that her hubby would have about as much clout as a fetus at a Planned Parenthood clinic.

Looks like the feds are still going all out, and one has to wonder what the Blagojeviches might be willing to do to save their own skins.  They certainly have made a lifetsyle out of looking out for themselves up to now, and I doubt they’ll change much with this much heat on them.

All the Obama’s know how to do is spend other people’s money.

Obama worked on volunteer programs in the hospitals and in the community, community-based health education conducted by physicians and the Adopt-a-School initiative. Under her leadership, the number of hospital employees serving in the community increased nearly fivefold, while community members volunteering in the hospital nearly quadrupled.

The Democrat Party and the MSM are one in the same; the perfect partnership. Until the day comes, when Americans have turned their collective backs on the media (film, television, music, arts, print), Democrats will control the message and the brainwash will continue. The “entertainment” industry must die in it’s current form, and that’s not going to happen anytime soon. Obama’s porkulus bill is loaded with billions of our money going directly back into the hands of this partnership. PAY TO PLAY; the perfect scheme.

These criminals want the fairness doctrine back; I say bring it on! Works both ways depending upon who’s in power. The day will come when Republicans return to power. The Democrats are busy building a very powerful monster of a government, which will work quite nicely to destroy the “partnership” when the power shifts hands. Oh, the investigations that will be coming! Want to investigate and prosecute GW Bush for having protected our homeland successfully! Oh, the investigations that will be coming when the power changes hands… Bring it on you gutless Liberal idiots!

In the meanwhile, each and every one of us can decide whether or not we want to tune into any shows coming from the partnership. Oh, the choices!

OT, I suppose. Here’s just another reason for faith-based organizations to stay away from government money–grants or loans. Render under Caesar what is his, render unto the Lord what is His. I left a large non-denominational church a few years ago when I realized that it was compromising its integrity because its leadership was “hoping to secure federal grant money down the road.”

I can’t wait until all these Christians who supported Obama begin to see the federal grant money they were counting on dry up when their organizations can’t pass the employment-discrimination tests that Obama’s administration intends to impose.

Where’s the element of faith when a Christian organization ties itself to the fortunes of a civil government? It’s a sucker play that Christian supporters of Obama have fallen for.

That aside–and related to this post–I wandered around on the CCIL Web site. Two interesting links on the “press release” page.

First, a 22 May 2008 press release announcing a new devolopment director–Josh Flanders

Second, a 13 August 2008 press release announcing a new development director–Patti Blago (aka Johnny Fontaine).

Does anyone else wonder whether each of the directors for this organzation found a horse’s head in his or her bed? And did the Chairman of the Board tell Blago’s lawyer that a man in the chairman’s position can’t afford to be made to look ridiculous?

Ahhhhhhh! Ahhhhhhh! Blago’s wife gets a new job.

I kept thinking that, too, but I don’t anymore. This is the end of the line for the Feds. Fitzgerald doesn’t have the … the what? balls? integrity? … to go beyond. He seems to have named an end-game, and that game is Pin the Public Opinion on Blago the Jackass. All this Jackassery is so over the top that I now believe that it’s an orchestrated deception.

Blago is taking a bullet for the Dem team, and they will financially protect his family through the Chicago Dem-Mob, and he won’t spend any time in jail and money will just appear and he’ll live quietly and comfortably ever after.

That’s my prediction. Fitz is the biggest phony in this farce. Daley, Madigan, Obama, Emanuel, Axelhead, Burris, Jackson, Stroger, Jones, and the entire Chicago City Council all walk away unscathed.

This is different from Micehlle Obama how?

That’s what I want to know.
Valerie Jarrett was on the board of the UC Hospital where Michelle Obama was hired.
Barack Obama directed new funds to the UC Hospital.
Barack Obama was on the Illinois Senate’s Health and Human Services Committee, and chaired it beginning 2003.

Michelle Obama engaged David Axelrod as a consultant to help develop the program where they send people out of their ER and into clinics.
Michelle Obama hired Dr. Eric Whitaker, Barack’s BFF, to run this program.
Whitaker’s former job was the State Public Health Director, a job he got after Barack Obama recommended him to Blagojevich via Tony Rezko.

Now Dr. Whitaker has taken over the responsibilities of Michelle Obama’s former job, and Jarrett, Obama, and Axelrod are all in the White House.

And Patty Blagojevich is a problem?

MayBee on February 14, 2009 at 1:12 PM

Ahhh .. the Chicago Christian Industrial League.

That’s a ripe plumb for picking.

This article doesn’t mention the $25M homeless shelter which was built to replace an aging site.

That aging site was sold to developer friends of Daley for a song to build condos (which aren’t selling well).

The new site is dangerously close to running out of funds and may be in danger of closing down.

If Blagobitch wants to save her skin, there’s only one route to take.

Right through the Mayor’s office.

I like thei idea of term limits but here’s my concern/ and my question…

Would each state need to legislate term limits? If so, it would never happen because those states that did would be weaker in the COngress.

Are term limits something that could be federal legislation? Would it require a Constitutional Amendment?

Anyone know?

According to an Associated Press report …
Emanuel did contact the governor’s office about the appointment, and left Blagojevich with the impression that he was pushing Valerie Jarrett, a close Obama friend, so he wouldn’t have to compete with her in the White House for Obama’s attention, said a person close to Blagojevich. The person requested anonymity because the person was not authorized to talk about the governor’s discussions regarding the vacancy.
