One-third of Europeans blame the economic collapse on …

…. the Joooooooos. Anti-Semitic attitudes have increased in the wake of the economic collapse, a study across seven European countries has found, with a third of Europeans blaming the Jews for the economy. Spain appears to have the highest levels of animosity towards Jews:
The Anti-Defamation League said Tuesday that a survey it commissioned found nearly a third of Europeans polled blame Jews for the global economic meltdown and that a greater number think Jews have too much power in the business world.
The organization, which says its aim is “to stop the defamation of Jewish people and secure justice and fair treatment to all,” says the seven-nation survey confirms that anti-Semitism remains strong.
The poll included interviews with 3,500 people – 500 each in Austria, Britain, France, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Spain.
It says that in Spain, 74 percent of those asked say they feel it is “probably true” that Jews hold too much sway over the global financial markets. That is the highest percentage in the survey.
Nearly two-thirds of Spanish respondents said Jews were more loyal to Israel than they were to their home countries.
Anti-Semitism is an old security blanket for people when they can’t get around to blaming themselves. It’s a superstition as old as two millenia, with no rationality to it at all. Europe indulges in this on a regular basis. When Germany collapsed in World War I, no one wanted to take responsibility for conducting an utterly destructive war that bankrupted their nation and killed millions. It was a lot easier to blame the Jews for their own failures — and it led to disastrous consequences.
America isn’t immune to this, either, nor the rest of the Anglosphere. In fact, one of Barack Obama’s appointees, Samantha Power, made an allusion to this a few years ago in an interview, and others in American political life have been less subtle. In Britain last year, 50% surveyed thought British Jews more loyal to Israel than the UK. At the same time, 31% of Americans thought the same about American Jews. Do people question the loyalties of Catholics, Anglicans, the Irish? Perhaps a fringe do, but nowhere near as mainstream as these numbers suggest.
Make no mistake about it; the Jews of the West are in danger of getting completely marginalized at a very bad time in history for it to happen. If those numbers continue to grow, we can expect pressure from these Western nations to abandon Israel, and more importantly, to abandon the fight against radical Islamist terrorism and Iranian hegemony in the Middle East.

Boy this is rich.
Seems Europe really isn’t repentant of their murderous anti-semitic tendencies.
They really don’t learn from their history.
BTW-up here in ND I have noticed a large number of people (curiously of German descent. Hmmmm?) who are closet anti-semites.
It actually really surprised me to see this when I moved here in ‘99.
I see it in my students, too.

I’m from Saskatchewan (Canada, for the geographically disinclined) and am part Jew. I have more people treating me with disdain over the past few years. My grandpa was asked “If he was a Jew” when he was talking about saving money on flooring. When my Dad was negotiating with a salesman, same thing. And neither were asked in a nice or joking manner. And that was in Canada and ND.
Don’t even get me started on Europe…..

Well, it serves no one any good when people who are not Jewish continue to call others “anti-semites” for no reason other than that they’re “of German descent…”). A prejudicial statement if ever there was one.
People really need to get a handle on this term because it’s becoming meaningless when everyone and anyone is “anti-Semite”. I wish there was more value and credibility for the term, if and as it could be properly applied and not randomly used as general derogation of anyone, everyone who may not be eating matsos or even like them.
Different cultures exist. They don’t all exist blaming the Jews or to “hate Jews,” they just have different cultural experiences and characteristics. That does not mean they “hate Jews” accordingly.
Use that term specifically AFTER there’s abundant proof that someone’s conspiring against an entire ethnicity of human beings to seek their demise. Until then, spare the hyperbole BECAUSE using that phrase to denigrate others in general CREATES that which the term states. People get tired of reading it, hearing it, it hurts people, it’s monstrous when it’s misapplied or cruelly lobbed at anyone for petty reasons, it should be reserved to identify a very serious offense of a very narrow definition. Otherwise, it’s just creating enemies.

Approx. 75% of all Jews live in Israel and the US. That only leaves about 4 million in all the other countries. Spain has about 40,000. So this 40,000 is causing Spain’s problems?
As we know, most of the religious violence we hear about in Europe is from their very few remaining Jews. /sarc.

What is interesting is that Franco allowed Jews at danger in Vichy France to immigrate to Spain, while Petain sent his Jews to the camps. But, of course, we are taught that Franco was the bad guy and the Caballero’s Commies were the good guys during the Civil War. Bu!!$hit.
Another thing, anti-Semitism in Spain has been much more visible since that Socialist piece of trash Zapatero has been in power, since he is more worried about appeasing the Muzzies. Aznar took anti-Semitism seriously and punished offenders accordingly.
PimFortuynsGhost on February 13, 2009 at 12:41 PM
It’s interesting that as Europe (West) gets more secular that anti-semitism rises.
The old deicide smear obviously can’t be the explanation for this new type of anti-semitism.

No, they stayed back in Africa. Which ever since has created a great deal of animosity among those “who stayed in Africa” against those who walked out and forged different means and methods. Seriously, I think this explains, culturally, a great deal about humanity.
But about NASCAR fans, hold on because that’s a prejudicial thing to suggest there, as also about “Europeans.” Smart people like fast cars and enjoy driving them at NASCAR, just try to get out there yourself and compete and see what it takes.
I’m curious who it was in “Europe” who was responsible for “hating the Jews” before all the Muslims showed up there, by the way.
Spain had problems based upon a bad economy, chased out a handfull of “Jooos” because of their monopoly in banking there, a long while ago. I think that was at some point, also, the growing animosity in Germany about same at some point, to generalize.
These issues are not just one page or another, they’re complicated. A lot of it has more to do with industries and economies than with ethnicities specifically.

I think that probably can apply to all of humanity, even to “Jooos,” (part of humanity). Find a type of person, a race or ethnicity, you’ll find that there’s that lower echelon of the badly behaving, badly amoral and loathesome among them. It’s a human problem.

Those evil Germans who you speak of have probably been in the US for 100-150 years. The reason that you see it in Germans is that there are a lot of Germans in the upper midwest. It’s a numbers thing, not some inbred ancestry thing.

I just point out, as I did earlier here, that most of the Leftwing politicians today are Jewish. Or Black. The Leftwing people put down (for good reasons) on this site’s comments sections are the same ethnicity that complaints are made about, etc.
I agree that the Left is the congregational party/place of segregationists, racially defining persons and of and about racist (and gender) politics. I tried to point out, however, that for all the negation here about “Europeans” (implying, mostly who are “White,” I assume), the finger ought to be pointed at those making this ongoing stink about “them.” Look at the local situations, stop calling people names, consider what’s causing what in today’s politics.

Not because they’re black.
Similarly, we criticize Jewish liberals (so does Dennis Prager) because of their ideology and not their religion.

Well, I missed that part (you responding that “78% of Am. Jews voted liberal”). Which is true, generally, give or take a percentage.
I only read that you responded with a sidestepping remark (that part about “White Christians” voting in Obama — which is patently wrong).
Christians, by the way, the “White” ones, tend not to be too different than ones of other colors. But the people who supported and support Obama can rarely be defined as “Christian” in any genuine sense what with the causes they’ve opted to support via Obama. Voting for Obama, who supports infanticide, among other things, renders a claim that one is “Christian” rather moot.

At a Jewish forum in New York City, Soros partially attributed a recent resurgence of antisemitism to the policies of Israel and the United States, and to successful Jews such as himself:
There is a resurgence of anti-Semitism in Europe. The policies of the Bush administration and the Sharon administration contribute to that. It’s not specifically anti-Semitism, but it does manifest itself in anti-Semitism as well. I’m critical of those policies… If we change that direction, then anti-Semitism also will diminish. I can’t see how one could confront it directly… I’m also very concerned about my own role because the new anti-Semitism holds that the Jews rule the world… As an unintended consequence of my actions… I also contribute to that image

The last time Europe blamed Jews for their collective economic misery, whole branches of my family tree were lost to history. That horror will, I honestly hope, never happen again, but I do fear for Isreal right now. I never want to tell my grandchildren at my knee about the destruction of Isreal, like my grandfather told me about the destruction of his family.
It is so convienent, to blame someone else, isn’t it? Especially when that someone is both used to it and won’t violently retaliate (like the Muslims). It also appears that history and economic books across the globe need some serious editing.
