Video: Michelle salutes the entitlement cult of O
posted at 8:00 pm on February 12, 2009 by Allahpundit
First the all-conservative roundtable, now this. Man, no one serves up the red meat like Beck. I take MM’s point about housing not being a civil right, but this goes back to what I said the other day about stimulus polls: When the economy’s in crisis, the only politicians who’ll be willing to vote en masse against entitlements and be portrayed as “callous” are ideologues of a Reagan/Paul degree of libertarian purity. And it’s going to be a long, long time before they’re a majority of the GOP again. However fine this argument is theoretically, politically it’s a non-starter.

And it’s going to be a long, long time before they’re a majority of the GOP again.
If enough of them are driven like from office like whipped dogs, the survivors might just discover a burning desire to convert to the aforementioned purity.

You’re a good man. Would you just admit that Yaushua is the Son of God and pray that the Holy Spirit enters your heart?
Time is short.

Can’t do it, dude. I actually gave up a close friend the other day because she wouldn’t repudiate the wicked, evil teaching that skeptics deserve to suffer eternally in hell for their doubt. It hurts.

BWAHAHA! All this gnashing of teeth over such a twisted view of people simply airing their grievances to someone they believe will actually listen (for a change). The “Road to Socialism” subtitle is something right out of Colbert Report. Obviously to many conservatives “pork” equals any government benefit that doesn’t put cash directly in their pocket. Keep the comedy coming!

Obama is going to be reaping what he sowed,he has told

And,at what percentage of his voters have bought into

There is no question,Obama’s supporters will become

So,when their anger becomes violence(gawd forbid),the

He will blame the RIGHT!

I understand how fish multiply because I have a fish pond and it’s always a great laugh to watch the fish mate. OT but the female lay the eggs and then turns around and starts eating them. Of course she has to fight the other fish for her share. Even with the feeding frenzy we still manage to get four or five that make it to adulthood. I figure they are liberal and exercising their rights not to be burdened.
Anyway
Are the loaves multiplying because bread making will be the new jobs?
The pork and kool aid from the sky just sounds messy. You would think that with the amount they are spending they could afford some paper cups and plates.

It takes quite a while to build up the message…Regan spent the entire Carter term, getting the messages out in preparation for the 1980 election…it helped a lot when virtually everything he predicted during that time came true in spades…but the GOP has to have a voice out there to make the Regan case…and right now, there isn’t one. The problem isn’t the message, it the total lack of a messenger.
And, Paul, whatever the hell he is…is a political non-starter, no matter what. He’s the GOPs answer to Kucinich.

Some friendships merit to be over, for myriad of reasons. Fortunately we can choose them, while stuck with family.
However, surely you don’t believe in “eternity”. Your suffering here, in this life, is often tough enough.
On Beck, I can’t stand his personality. His views are mostly not bad for conservatism. His ego, however, and the “me, and me, and I, and I again” while listening to him on a long drive from LA to San Diego drove me nuts. Thus, I don’t watch him.
MM is fond of the rightie woman on the View too and I can’t stand her. Don’t know if she likes Gretchen on Fox, and I can’t watch her, not for two seconds…
Fortunately we don’t have to agree 100% with anyone.
Entelechy on February 12, 2009 at 8:44 PM
Yes, but they “love” Obama… as in the way Ann Coulter infers
FLKraKa on February 12, 2009 at 8:45 PM
Heavens forbid that misfortune ever befall either Beck or Malkin and they find themselves in need of help. May their blessed lives go on forever.
Beck is a Mormon, by the way. Mormons are big believers in welfare (for their own, not for anyone else). They even make their women join something called “The Relief Society” where they make blankets and cook food for Mormons in need.

I’ve given up a few close friends for similar reasons (i.e. mutual respect), so I can relate.
It’s never easy but thinking back on each one, I still have no regrets.
The Ugly American on February 12, 2009 at 8:48 PM
No. Again, it’s not that I think it’s true, it’s that *she* thinks it’s true. It’s a question of her intent, not the objective reality, and her intent (by association) is that I pay for my skepticism by being tortured forever. Unconscionable. I won’t condone it.
Allahpundit on February 12, 2009 at 8:48 PM
Good evening to you, canopfor, our Canadian e-buddy.
Yes, in California 3 ultra leftie judges declared that prisoners are ‘abused’ in their close-quarter housing and healthcare. The judges don’t care, however, on those same rights of tax-paying citicen, not one iota.
Our state is broke – mostly due to billions spent on illegals and unions, and state workers’ bennies and futile programs. It’s going to turn ugly, or it must. Tax payers must revolt and the mooches need to be taken to task. They should not have a right to vote, I know, I know…
Entelechy on February 12, 2009 at 8:48 PM
I’m sorry, but I don’t see it as wicked. If you believe in Christian teachings, you understand that God sent his only son to Earth, and that we killed him. I’m sure God saw that as wicked, yet, according to teachings, we still have the chance to enter heaven. That is divine grace. You are rejecting that grace. Its not your friends fault. Again, this is all theoretical. I’m agnostic, and haven’t attended Church in years, and know that if I died tomorrow, I might go to hell. I might kick myself, but I wouldn’t blame somebody else for not warning me properly.
jimmy the notable on February 12, 2009 at 8:48 PM

Mormons are also an unthinking monolith where every last member of the faith walks lockstep with the rest.
Seriously, if you you want to be a dumb bigot, try to mask it a little.
Bishop on February 12, 2009 at 8:50 PM
There are two basic principles of western morality when it comes to justice: (1) we punish deeds, not thoughts, and (2) the punishment should fit the crime. Punishing people with eternal suffering for nothing more than skepticism violates both. It’s wicked.
Allahpundit on February 12, 2009 at 8:50 PM
But you don’t believe in eternity. Another case of “it’s the thought that counts”.
Cindy Munford on February 12, 2009 at 8:50 PM
Clueless.
Beck has already been there and worked to get himself to get where he is now.
There is a huge difference in someone getting a helping hand and turning someone into a perpetual beggar. Idiot liberals just don’t know the difference.
reaganaut on February 12, 2009 at 8:51 PM
I lost my best friend because he would not or could not admit that Curly was the best Globetrotter. Sometimes you just have to make a clean break.
Jim Treacher on February 12, 2009 at 8:51 PM
All right, for the third time: It’s not objective reality that matters to me, it’s her intent. Imagine if you were a minority and your friend believed that whites were superior to brown-skinned people. That’s false, but wouldn’t it bother you that your friend believed it anyway? Of course it would.
Allahpundit on February 12, 2009 at 8:52 PM
Allahpundit on February 12, 2009 at 8:48 PM
But do you talk discuss it often, is there no way to agree to disagree and ignore your differences?
I have a VERY liberal friend who vehemently disagrees with my political stances, but we play poker, drink beer and work on cars; we have agreed not to talk politics because it is just too much.

The Ugly American on February 12, 2009 at 8:53 PM
Oh for goodness sakes, their is no critical analysis by the press, nor are they pressuring Democrats for full transparency. That explains to a good extent public opinion. The media is marketing this as a recovery bill.
What I just wrote is also reality right?
True_King on February 12, 2009 at 8:53 PM
But you’re not simply a “skeptic.” By definition, atheists believe that there is no God. You are actively rejecting his existence. You have made that choice. And now you don’t believe that you should have to deal with the consequences.
jimmy the notable on February 12, 2009 at 8:54 PM
Imagine if you were a minority and your friend believed that whites were superior to brown-skinned people.
Ok, if it follows that line I would part company too; I wouldn’t want someone hanging that sort of attitude over my head.
Bishop on February 12, 2009 at 8:55 PM
AP’s free to dump her inasmuch as she’s free to think he’s off to a slow burn.
Which he is, but that’s beside the point.
hippie_chucker on February 12, 2009 at 8:55 PM
We talked about it fairly often. She’s an evangelical Christian.
It’s not the disagreement I mind. It’s the condoning of suffering. I don’t like liberals but I can be friends with them because (usually) they don’t want me to be harmed, they just want their policies to prevail. When we’re talking about eternal suffering, it’s personal.
Allahpundit on February 12, 2009 at 8:55 PM
Man, sure sounds like a Woody Allen movie in here.
redrock on February 12, 2009 at 8:55 PM
That’s not the thing. I understand what AP is saying. His friend believed in her heart that AP would spend eternity in hell. AP doesn’t like that about a person who, in every other respect, believes he is probably a decent guy.
jimmy the notable on February 12, 2009 at 8:55 PM
Both of you, volens/nolens, if you’re ever destitute, I’ll feed you, for your wit alone, and you can believe in whatever you do, no condemnation, eternity or not.
Back on topic, before AP bans us all.
Entelechy on February 12, 2009 at 8:56 PM
I am a new listener to Beck and he can be very funny, which is most important to me. I do get a little tired of the end of the world stuff and how he figured it out two years ago. It’s like he wants brownie points. Since I swing from thinking the financial “crisis” is total b.s. and stocking up on food, he can be depressing.
Cindy Munford on February 12, 2009 at 8:56 PM
I want government cookies before bed every night, booze that doesn’t give me a hangover, and conjugal visits with cherize theron three times a week. When will I be getting those, Mr President?
notagool on February 12, 2009 at 8:56 PM
All atheists are skeptics. I can’t conclusively disprove God. All I can say is that I doubt his existence based on the available evidence.
And again, it’s not that I don’t expect consequences if I’m wrong. I don’t expect to suffer *eternally* for simple skepticism using the powers of logic that God himself (supposedly) gave me.

baldilocks on February 12, 2009 at 8:59 PM
Yeah. Although it’s also the fact that my friend didn’t really dispute that this teaching of making skeptics suffer eternally is evil. Even so, she abided by it, even though it made her uncomfortable. That makes me uncomfortable: When people suspend their own moral judgment in favor of a dictate from a supreme authority, a lot of evil can happen.
I have another friend who left evangelical Christianity because (in part) she couldn’t tolerate the immorality of sending skeptics to hell. I really respect her.
Allahpundit on February 12, 2009 at 9:00 PM
The moral question, Allah, is whether or not the excess of shamelessly uninhibited NY women make up for your loss of an evangelical female friend…
hippie_chucker on February 12, 2009 at 9:01 PM
jimmy the notable on February 12, 2009 at 8:55 PM
But I see what he’s saying; having a friend who thanks you for a beer and then tells you you’re going to burn in hell because you’re not a believer would be weird for me.
Would I dump them, hard to say, then again I’m a casual Christian with a huge skeptical streak. I’m the type to think that God wouldn’t toss me into Fire Lake because I had the occasional doubt about Him.
Bishop on February 12, 2009 at 9:01 PM
Tell us about your lovelife again, Allah. Mwah.
Fortunata on February 12, 2009 at 9:01 PM
But, logically, if you weighed the value of upholding your beliefs for this brief 70-90 year lifespan versus rejecting them so that you will avoid damnation for eternity, its illogical to make such a stand for your beliefs. It defies “logic” to choose the route of most resistance.
jimmy the notable on February 12, 2009 at 9:02 PM
It’s almost harder to be a believer. There’s nothing scary about there being nothing.

Hard to hijack a thread when the very first post questioned Beck’s religion.

Odd, I find both of them tedious also. I think it’s the screechy voices.
baldilocks on February 12, 2009 at 9:03 PM
This same friend made me listen to a sermon about hell by a noted NYC Protestant pastor a few weeks ago. His point was that fear of damnation isn’t enough to save you; you have to genuinely love God. I think he’s right about that. Going through the motions simply to avoid hell isn’t going to fool the supreme being.
My answer is that I can’t believe a supreme being, who’s supposedly just, would condone torturing people for eternity for simple skepticism. The apostle Thomas was guilty of the same thing, after all. So I have to conclude that Christianity’s wrong.
Allahpundit on February 12, 2009 at 9:05 PM
So, Allah, if it were simply a case of ~ you’re not going to heaven, you would be cool with this friend. The problem is that their stance goes beyond that to say you will suffer eternal damnation.. with all the negative implications. Is
that what you cannot condone?
FLKraKa on February 12, 2009 at 9:07 PM
