Obama: Caterpillar will re-hire people if stimulus passes; Caterpillar CEO: No, we won’t

posted at 7:18 pm on February 12, 2009 by Allahpundit

Yesterday’s banner Drudge headline is today’s comedy gold. Note the reason, too, why he can’t re-hire people right away: Because the stimulus simply won’t do any stimulating fast enough.

Heh. I heard Teh One today spinning his tale of how Caterpillar would save something like 22K jobs or some nonsense now that the stimulus fraud has passed. I thought it sounded funny. And it was – well, not to those workers that lost their jobs, and just had their hopes crushed by Teh One! I don’t laugh at them – I laugh at the Imbicile-in Chief, and how quickly he’s tumbling off his pedestal.

Tapper was the least leg-tingly mainstream reporter during the campaign season, so I’m glad to see he’s continuing on that. Another guy to keep an eye on is Drew Griffin of CNN. Unfortunately, his last major incident of note was when he misquoted the National Review when interviewing Palin. Having seen his work on Acorn and Ayers, I knew it was a mistake, and he apologized, but I haven’t seen him since.

jimmy the notable on February 12, 2009 at 7:31 PM

AUINSC on February 12, 2009 at 7:33 PM

Topsecretk9 on February 12, 2009 at 7:34 PM

Lets not be too hasty here – perhaps Obama plans on having the government buy Caterpillar and put all those employees back to work making machinery so other people can dig really big holes and fill them back up again. That’s the one factor economists are not considering – the bigger the holes the faster the recovery.

tomas on February 12, 2009 at 7:41 PM

There is a belief that 6% unemployment is total employment due to the welfare state. Meaning 6% aren’t going to work if you give them a job, drive them back and forth to work and let them take a two week vacation before they have to do anything. Add that to the 7.6% and you get 13.6%

Today was supposed to be all about the “bipartisan” economic stimulus legislation. Today was supposed to be Congress getting together and giving the filthy liar an agreed upon way to give government an even more intrusive presence in everyday life……

House Republicans objected to the idea of voting on legislation Nancy Pelosi refuses to let them see.

Senator Gregg withdraws without giving the filthy liar prior notice.

There are rumors, leaked to the media, that all the objectionable stuff to the economic stimulus bill are back in the final product (which will cause a firestorm of wrath if true).

The fact that the idea that Caterpillar’s CEO calls out the filthy as a filthy liar is just icing on the cake.

The filthy liar couldn’t f**k up his honeymoon period anymore if he were trying to do so.
