Obama White House coordinating 527 attacks on GOP?

posted at 11:34 am on February 11, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Remember when the Democrats had their panties in a wad over the presence of Karl Rove in the Bush White House?  They objected to the politicization of the executive branch and the apparent and alleged political coordination between Rove and outside groups.  Now that Barack Obama has cleaned out the White House, though, things like that will never, ever happen again.  Right?  Right?

Well …

President Obama’s allies on the left, AFSCME and the labor-backed Americans United for Change, are ramping up with a massive advertising blitz containing the most direct and hard-hitting attack yet on specific GOP leaders, demanding that they get behind the recovery package and stop saying “No.”

White House aides were told in advance what the concept of the ads would be, though they were briefed while the ad was in production, according to a Democrat familiar with the discussions. The ad, which is running nationally on cable, goes considerably farther than Obama and the White House has in directly calling out Republican leaders, flashing images of GOP Reps John Boehner and Eric Cantor, and Senator Mitch McConnell.

The ad — which is accompanied by a big targeted radio ad blitz hitting 18 GOP House members and three Senators opposing the plan — is a sign that Obama and his advisers won’t try to get in the way as allied groups play hardball with the Republicans in the final stretch of the stimulus fight, even as the Obama administration hits GOPers blocking the plan somewhat less directly or aggressively.

I believe Greg Sargent meant to say in the second paragraph that the aides were not told in advance.  Either way, it looks like White House politicization is just peachy with the Left, as long as it serves their purposes. Obama and his aides want to attack Republicans while maintaining a false front of bipartisanship, a calculated and cynical attack mode that completely belies Obama’s platitudes about getting past partisan differences.

We used to joke about Karl Rove brain implants when people accused conservative commentators of taking talking points and marching orders from the White House.  Now it looks as though the unions and their 527s take marching orders from Rahm Emanuel.  The permanent campaign continues, and only the players and brain implants change.

Does John McCain and Russ Feingold know about this?

And I think Ed is being a little silly here again. Our objections was the propensity for Bush to appoint political allies to positions where:
1. They had no experience like Brownie
2. Their experience had them fighting against the laws they were supposed to enforce.
The White house’s ability to control the political debate was annoying, but not particularly corrupt. Are we going to pretend that first term Presidents stop being politicians? They always run for office, Bush did the same.

And George Soros’ cheers even louder than Bill Maher’s
Now Al Gore will control the temperature in your own house
And your fate is no longer steered by your own stars

This is the dawning of the Age of Obamaius
Age of Obamanius
Obamanius! Obamanius!

Unlimited welfare spending and taxing
ACORN’s power abounding
No more Republican objections
Only Harry and Nancy’s visions
One more after another Supreme Court marxist ordination

You mean besides her 8 years as a member of the armed services committee and her active participation in foreign policy debates during the 8 years of the Clinton administration? GOP senators could not stop themselves in praise of her expertise, knowledge and experience, nice try though.

2. Two words: Tim Geithner.

Not sure how you can claim he’s a lefty when his entire war cabinet is made of hawks and most of his economic advisors have spent their careers fighting for free, unregulated markets. There are many good ideas on HA, but sadly they go nowhere because we have no leaders to mobilize us. We have to start doing things that we can organize online. I suggest WE take a page from the Alinsky playbook. First, start ridiculing The One. Every chance we get, we have to make a caricature out of him to our liberal friends, colleagues and families. Next, we have to let our liberals know what’s in the stimulus bill. I talked to several people today who had not a clue. Take time away from HA to e-mail all the liberals you know. Third we have to get into all of the Messiah town hall meetings that we can. Wear Obama T-shirts and infiltrate. Tell his handlers you want to ask a tough question, like : Does your wife get jealous that so many women adore you? Then if you get called on, ask him a real question.

This is serious, folks. It’s our country. Our future. We have to take it back, starting today.

The White house’s ability to control the political debate was annoying, but not particularly corrupt. Are we going to pretend that first term Presidents stop being politicians? They always run for office, Bush did the same.

This seems to happen in every administration. Everybody, unless I missed a post, has forgotten to mention Leon Panetta. Heck, even Porter Goss had actual experience in the CIA at one time, and look at how some of the Dems piled on him when Bush named him as CIA head. The problem that I would have with Obama if I actually cared about this stuff that much is that he is being a bit hypocritical because 1) He essentially claimed that he would name no lobbyists to his administration, and look at what he’s doing with the deputy secretary of defense nomination and 2) because he is among many, or at least the type, who criticized the nominations of people like Michael Brown. Leon Panetta has no experience in the CIA at all, as far as I know. I don’t see people giggling about the nomination when they had a field day about the Harriet Myers, although that one took some bashing from both sides. Again, the problem is that Obama claims to be different, but he’s not. He’s just another politician. Nothing wrong with that, but his voters need to stop acting like he’s some kind of transformative figure. What he’s pushing, in my opinion, is the same views from 30 years ago; all you have to do is watch the 1980 debate between Reagan and Carter. Carter was pushing for what is tantamount to universal healthcare then too.
And, for all the bashing, I like Obama as a person. I even would be apt to agree with him on some issues. I didn’t vote for the guy in 2008 and I won’t in 2012, but I respect him. He needs to gain more respect by taking Ed Schultz and Helen Thomas and the likes of a Huffington Post “reporter” off the front row, for starters. Okay, enough of my tangent. :)

NathanG on February 11, 2009 at 4:51 PM

It’s age-old socialist policy to present the populace with a “common foe”. Republicans are to the Obama administration what Jews were to Hitler’s Germany and what Americans are to Chavez’s Venezuela… scapegoats to focus attention upon while a dictator makes his power-grab.

There’s literally NO REASON why Obama wouldn’t have called for a “bipartisan” stimulus bill from the off if that’s what he wanted. He WANTED this discord. That’s obvious.

THIS is what Americans voted for! They’ve made their pig pen. Now they can sleep in the filth.

Enough said.

getalife on February 11, 2009 at 7:53

ODS would mean burning him in effigy, that would go over well, calling for his slow, painful death and blaming him for everything including hemorrhoids. Wait, the BDS people are still doing the last two. We’ll have to wait until they’re done. While we’re waiting, if you don’t understand the extent he is taking over private business to be run by the government, you really ought to take a closer look at the porkulus bill. There is nothing else to call it but socialism.

they are all hypoctrytes and liars
ALL of the liberals are creeps
All of the dems are traitors..
And the republicans arent even real conservatives

So i am not surprised by these antics
for neither party CARES about
the United States of America..

Does John McCain and Russ Feingold know about this?

Excellent question………..

…….. not to mention the unintended consequences of their legislation.

The Democrats are so drunk with power right now, trying to stuff their ideology and agenda down our throats……….

…….. can you imagine, the bigger the bill, the larger the unintended consequences,

and the Democrats will own every single one, without question………..

Seven Percent Solution on February 11, 2009 at 9:36 PM

I’m shocked this would be a surprise to anyone.

Jim Treacher on February 11, 2009 at 10:42 PM

If they don’t need the Republicans to pass this crap, and if they truly believe it is the right thing to do, why the hell do they care if the Republicans support it or not?

There’s a subject-verb agreement issue in that last question.

I think the Obama-media coordination effort will reach a crescendo with the launch of a new “American Idol”-type show, in which contestants compete to offer the most groveling, fawning professions of love for the Messiah at his town hall meetings. The winner gets a house, a job, or a billion dollar bailout. By 2009, winning the top spot on this show will be the only way to own a house. By 2010, it will be the only way to get food.

Of COURSE, this Kenyan White House usurper and crooked Chicago-based pile of dog poo is coordinating 527 attacks on Republicans. That’s what moveon.org and the union thugs are for, don’tchaknow?

Don’t worry, the White House and moveon.org already have an enemies list, and I’m already on it. And so are most of you. You see, the Brownshirted thug “true believers” have no compunctions about stomping out opposition. And you better believe that they hate rightwing blogs and authors almost as much as they hate Limbaugh.

Just look at their behavior during the campaign and the strong-arm tactics they used against Obama’s opposition. Now that they are in power and run the legislature, they have no constraints to outlawing legitimate dissent, and hardly any when it comes to “direct action” against dissenters. Michelle refers to their behavior as becoming unhinged. I call their behavior the closest thing to Nazi goosestepping since WWII.

If you don’t believe or understand that conservatives and Republicans are facing a modern “Krystalnacht” in the near future orchestrated by these thugs, you’re hopelessly naive.

We need A press on our side. Time for conservative money to come forward and buy and RUN the NY Times and NBC.

klickink.wordpress.com on February 11, 2009 at 1:19 PM

Correction, we don’t need an equally biased media in our favor. We need an unbiased media. That’s not going to happen while the liberaly run education system continues to pump out their drones to the media industry.

Just saw Obamonkey’s ‘usaservice.org’ ad

What a freaking crock. Where is my moon, my levee, my dream?

Apparently ‘my moon’ is to pick up litter along the side of the highway.

QUESTION FOR TECHIES:

Is it worthwhile to bombard this site with bogus names and e-mail addresses?

I don’t doubt Obamonkey will count every bogus entry as a legitimate sign-up when it suits his needs to advertise a large number – just wondering if a 1000-1 or greater ratio of bogus entries can encumber this endeavor at all?

If we do choose to fill this with bogus info – is it better to have obviously fake info (like signing bin Laden up) or is it better to actually make them think it might be an honest applicant?

Democrats celebrate Lincoln’s birthday by recreating the Dr. Frankenstein experiment omitting any innocence from their self-made monster, Obama.

Lincoln’s Birthday 2009 finds that Democrats are still segregationists who tar, feather, burn and lynch political opponents.

Obama, Pelosi, Reid & Co. have apartheid Congressional hearings to write TAX AND DEBT LEGISLATION WITHOUT REPRESENTING REPUBLICANS.

Where is the Fairness Doctrine within the walls of Congress?

Financially it is already happening.

None of the Socialist spending will be given to American manufacturing endeavors. Only to the ocialist agenda.

Any productive American free enterprise will be taxed and mandated to death.

ONLY Government Business ventures will exist; no competition will be tolerated.

Regardless of topic, eschew any “comprehensive reform legislation package” as it inevitably is a deadly pox to logic.

Well since MadisonConservative calls me dumb and a dick…

My real name is Mark Garnett, I don’t hide behind a funny name, I have nothing to hide and will use my Freedom of Speech until you put people like me in jail. I am a very lould and proud Conservative, I am NOT a Republican. I love America and I will fight politicaly against Obama in the POS’s attempt to thwart The Constitution and our freedoms. Please come after me, I have no issue being a Conservative JTP type… Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin express MY opinions, not the other way around. They simply give voice to what I feel, think and believe. So please Messiah, start comming after us… because we are comming after you politicaly in 2010 and for sure in 2012. We will prevail and we will take America back from the far left radical Socialists.

OT

To counter the Obamamunist propaganda here’s how I am seeing economic news this morning.

The DJI is down 185 and at 7,755. Bloomberg is reporting that “stocks tumbled, extending a global slide in equities, as jobless claims climbed to a record and investors speculated government measures will fail to revive the world’s economy.” Nikkei, DAX and others are also down for similar reasons including the so called TARP II as announced by the already failed Treasury Secretary and scoff law Timothy Geithner.

They are predicting the biggest drop in the GDP since 1946. A slight rise in retail sales was reported to be around 1% which is not enough to calm the markets by any means. The stimulus package has been said that it will create hyper-inflation and/or combined with a drop in the dollar. This said stimulus package also contains a meager $400 dollar “tax cut” for single payers which is well below the advertised tax cut touted by Barack Obama during the campaign. As you know, this money will be taxed in the long run and immediately when you take local taxes into account.

As I closet the DJI is down 193 at 7,746 and Barack Obama has a full day of doing Lincoln impressions.
