Heart-ache: Palin backs out of CPAC

Rush will still be there, but it’s not really “grassroots Woodstock” anymore without her. Now, because of the letdown, it’s more like grassroots Altamont: Plenty of good acts and one great one to close the show, but an angry, angry crowd nonetheless.
The opening-day headliner for the annual CPAC conservative convention February 26-28, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, has pulled out, citing state business in Juneau. “We’re obviously disappointed,” said a CPAC official. A spokesman for the three-day confab, organized by the American Conservative Union Foundation and others, said that Palin, the popular former vice presidential nominee, had indicated she would be able to attend but cited “duties of governing” in bowing out. Instead, she will send in a taped message.
The Democrats up there have been grumbling about her being out of state so much. Maybe she figured she could either get away for the Alfalfa Dinner or CPAC but not both and had to make a hard choice. Exit question: Huckabee to replace her? The message, at least, will be similar. And he’s anti-stimulus!

Yes. People from states that aren’t connected from the mainland should not be considered “in touch”. I mean Alaska has only been as state since 1959. Kind of like Hawaii. Which was accepted into the union in 1959. Kind of like a certain President Obama. He eats waffles and Arugula.

Actually I am a regular. Been around a while.. until recently when I went HUNTING for Caribou and Moose. Ever seen one? Ever had one? So I haven’t been “around” to deal with stupidity such as yours. I was doing the American Dream, hunting and bagging my game for food and horns for my trophy and doing my own thing. It is called a LIFE outside of the political atmosphere and away from the internet.

Ah, thanks. Can’t imagine what Noneya did that went any further than her claim that blacks can’t be Republicans, and I thought insulting Tony Snow was even too far for Vernon, but I do recall him using “let’s roll” mockingly once. If 9/11 victims aren’t sacred, Snow shouldn’t be either I guess.

Hmm don’t know of many places Caribou go in the lower 48. Minnesota and Montana but they rarely stay there as they are more protected in Canada and Alaska.
FYI Alaskan Moose are the largest in the WORLD. I guess that would be a regional education for you but then I don’t expect much out of someone such as yourself.

You have to understand that Allah is part of the David (Brooks and Frum) wing of the party that is more dedicated to stopping Palin than it would ever dream of being dedicated to stopping Obama. People of that wing would rather have Obama as president than see Palin have any sort of political office whatsoever.

Actually, I believe the Dream is more about being able to support yourself and the things you enjoy. Just because it doesn’t float your boat doesn’t make it any less enjoyable for others.

Think about it. sit back and think.
Upinak is a loyal conservative, a Republican that lives in Alaska, and participating in all the good things that state has to offer. Her Governor, ran and was a sensation, from her small state, most anyone would have been proud to support their beloved Governor. Nothing wrong with being proud of your state, and it’s leader, and when thrust into the national limelight, even more proud and supportive.
It’s not so much blind support, when you have had a chance to see and meet the person you are supporting…it goes way beyond “support”, this is a neighbor, a person whom you have personal contact and admiration for. And a person you truly share ideals, lifestyles, and political goals…you can bet none of us have that intimate of a relationship with whom we support.
You were way off base pegging upinak as just a Palin drone.
Some of us can be accused of that…but not her.

I looked at him and said, what did you say to her. He said nothing to her… but has noticed she is very aggitated when listening to NPR. LOL

I’ve actually been to Alaska on a cruise–it was gorgeous!
And being from Texas, I think I know where you’re heading regarding the Alaskan pioneer Western spirit.
Unfortunately, in the big cities, the NYC/Left Coast Liberal Latte-sipping mindset is starting to take over from we true Texas mustangs.
If you look at the map for the election, the only bits of Texas that went for NObama were Dallas, Houston and Austin.
The rest of the state was stone cold RED.
And I can’t tell you how many people I talk to who LOVE Sarah Palin.

It’s just too bad Palin cannot attend – it would give people a chance to see more of her. For any potential political figure nowadays, I am for more exposure. If THE ONE had been on the scene more years we potentially could have exposed him – of course that is given that the MSM would have gotten of their tails and looked at the evidence.
