This is exactly why I left DC.

I didn't relish residing in target central, especially when those in charge of keeping these guys out are geriatric hippies like that dope Pelosi or community organizers like the trainee in the White House.

I had a friend who was an editor for the New York Times World section. He died this past December. I'll always remember when I went to visit him in Paris, a conversation we had about the prisoners in Gitmo. He claimed that the people in Gitmo were innocents randomly picked up by the United States in Afghanistan. I told him that it is just crazy to believe that Bush and company would spend so much effort without good reason. The conversation ended in anger. I never had much respect for NYT reporting after that.

I'm sure that my friend was replaced at the NYT with someone with the same set of biases. And thus we know how the MSM will not report these facts.

At what point does the American public wake up and realize that the nation is less safe with the filthy bastard in the White House and the Democrats in charge of Congress? Seriously. I wasn’t happy with everything that GWB did but the inexperience and world view of the filthy bastard and Democrats scares me.

It’s not terrorism if used against the USA, Europe, Israel Afghanistan, Iraq, only if used against Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Lebanon, pfakistinians, Lebanon, Egypt and/or Iran.
Funny how that works out great for most terrorists.

eaglewingz08 on February 9, 2009 at 11:24 AM

That is simply not true. It is only terrorism if it is the USA. All others are just being cultural.

Hey Ed, lighten up. Yemen released one of OBL's "driver" a few weeks back; he's still motoring around those parts looking for a place to blow up.

If this keeps up, Obama will have to give another speech.

And we all know how a few stern words will change the hearts and minds of those who seek to destroy us.

Over the past 20 days, the length of the Obama Administration thus far, have you noticed how Obama is using far more strident language against conservatives here in the U.S., while saying the nicest things, or nothing at all, to the real enemies of America and the West?

i'm no fan of torture, so I'm okay with that EO, but it's just plain idiotic to close Guantanamo Bay. The One can extend due process and what not to terrorists quite well from there.
The problem is he's worried about the optics, the "symbolism" of it all. "Bad things happened here once, so we can't stay."

"In early 2005, four white wind turbines began operating John Paul Jones Hill, the base’s highest point, named after the Revolutionary War naval hero. The turbines, standing at 80 meters (262 feet) high, feature three-blade turbines. The four turbines were estimated to provide as much as a quarter of the base’s power generation during the high-wind months of late summer and fall; an appreciable fact given that Guantanamo Bay is completely self-sustaining, generating its own power and water without having to rely on Cuban municipal sources. In addition to generating power, the turbines have significantly cut down on emissions of greenhouse gases created through burning diesel fuel. Black clouds containing carbon dioxide can routinely be seen pouring from the diesel generators supplying power to the base’s energy grid. Each turbine is anchored in a giant block of concrete, through which 22 soil anchors are drilled into the mountain to a depth of 30 to 40 feet deep. These are then sealed with grout. The automated turbines are rated to withstand winds of up to 140 miles per hour. "

Once Obama’s weak policies lead to a mass slaughter of Americans on US soil, I suspect there won’t be much patience for a luxurious detention facility, or keeping vicious terrorists alive in them.

I'm not so sure about this anymore. Can't shake the nagging feeling that we are firmly back in a 9/10 mindset and that the majority of our fellow citizens just want to be done with the whole "war & terrorism thing".

Maybe it's just Monday blues, but I have the sinking feeling that if we get hit hard again there will be a collective groan and call to throw in the towel.

***
It was sad to see the good Black lady who lost a brave Navy son in the U.S.S. Cole bombing wake up. President Obama (PBUH) invited her to come to the White House to hear his reasons for stopping the trial of the Jihidi who masterminded the attack.
***
She refused to attend and be used as "cover" for Obama. She said, "I voted for President Obama--I never would have done so if I had known what he would do!"
***
Her son's murderers will never face trial--they will be released by our civilian court system soon due to lack of evidence.

WAKE UP AMERIKA!

Recidivism keeps the terrorism cycle rolling smoothly. Let us place all our trust blindly in President Gumby because he knows best. He has vast experience with handling terrorism matters, having been a...community organizer. He also has vast knowledge of strategic military issues, having been a...community organizer.

Hey look,we were told by the "smart ones" that Obama did not need experience to be a successful President because he has superior judgment.
Looking at the idiotic flopping around he has done in his first few weeks and taking in account his bad decision making with his "moral compass" Rev. Wright and the terrorist Ayers,it is obvious he posses the judgment God gave Rosanne Barr.

Closing Gitmo looks great to his left wing base and friends in France, but strategically he has opened himself up to major legal and political problems.Obama has backed himself
into a corner and has to go through with either jailing terrorist on American soil (lawyers on TV 24/7) or sending them to countries that will either put them back on terrorist payroll or torture/kill them.Worst case scenario is putting them through our court system here and probably having them released in this country.
Either way,Obama is making the situation worse and more dangerous for innocent civilians in his quest to please his left wing base and friends abroad.

This is some of the push back we are getting from Mr. judgments policy of talking to Iran without preconditions:

Hamas: Obama's Talks With Iran A Victory For Islamic Revolution

Allah Akhbar.
Hamas said today that Barack Obama's planned talks without preconditions with the Iranian Regime is a great victory for the Islamic Revolution.
Hamas added that the Islamic Revolution served as an incentive for the Palestinian people to terminate Israeli occupation.

Fars News reported:

TEHRAN (FNA)- The US efforts to hold direct talks with Iran is one of the Islamic Revolution's achievements, Hamas envoy to Tehran said.

Speaking on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the victory of Islamic Revolution in Iran's northwestern province of East Azarbaijan on Sunday, Abu Osama Al-Muati referred to the US enmity with the Muslims, and reiterated that the White House approach helps to the integrity of Muslims.

Every single move Obama has done in reference to the War on Terror has signaled capitulation and surrender to the Jihadist.
