Has-been: Living under Republican rule almost killed me

posted at 4:10 pm on February 6, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via CNS. I’m straining for something incisive to say but it’s so dispiritingly predictable, from the faux melodrama of life in Bush’s gulag to the patronizing cultist fawning over The One’s “spirit,” that I’m at a loss. Doesn’t the entire entertainment establishment feel this way? Isn’t that the whole point of Breitbart’s new site? Nothing to see here, move along.

Update (Ed): Proving, yet again, that Sonny had all the brains.

Isn’t her ex-husband’s widow a Republican Congresswoman?

Thats funny, I thought Cher died 6 years ago. Maybe its all the botox ,drugs & embalming fluid giving her the longevity. Isn’t she Joan Rivers sister?

portlandon on February 6, 2009 at 4:14 PM

So how much more time under Republicans would it have taken Cher? Are we talking days? Months? Years? Help me out here.

rihar on February 6, 2009 at 4:15 PM

The best part of her, unfortunately, skied into a tree.

MDWNJ on February 6, 2009 at 4:15 PM

She looks crazy, old and has not a clue in the world what she is talking about. Why does anyone bother to ask her opinion but for the sheer comedy of the moment.

The rich celebrities say this crap so the “poor democrats” will love them and buy their crappy songs so the rich celebrity can go live in Malibu in their $5 Million beach house. Hypocrites all the way – it is called acting – and not very good acting at that. Obama is already killing me and it has only been two weeks. The agony caused by the ONE. Make it stop.

izoneguy on February 6, 2009 at 4:17 PM

Isn’t she Joan Rivers sister?
portlandon on February 6, 2009 at 4:14 PM

One difference at least is that Joan Rivers is intentionally funny.

Patrick S on February 6, 2009 at 4:17 PM

She belongs in a wax museum, with all the other plastic people in tinkletown.

In 2000 years, man will be excavating what was once California, and they will find landfills of silicone and plastic from all the Hollywood types trying to remain forever 12 years old.

TheHat on February 6, 2009 at 4:17 PM

Ironic. Her music has almost killed me every time I’ve been forced to endure “Life After Love” or “If I Could Turn Back Time.”

HuskerNate on February 6, 2009 at 4:18 PM

Oh gawd. Notice her loss for words at 1:25. “If you’re not a rich,….I don’t know…born again Christian.”

Ha! She was going to say “rich, white” but then remembered she would be describing herself!!

Too much botox on the brain.

Brat on February 6, 2009 at 4:20 PM

Living under Republican rule almost killed me….

Are you sure it wasn’t the botox, latex, silicon or some of the other crap you’ve injected or had implanted in your body?

You should furrow your brow and think about it. Oh wait………

BacaDog on February 6, 2009 at 4:20 PM

I wonder what her house is worth (and I’m probably mistaken in assuming that she has only one). Why don’t all these wealthy Hollywood democrats put their bank accounts where they claim their politics are? Or do they want all the regular schmucks to pay for the “dreams” they want for everyone, except themselves, of course? The idiotic hypocrisy of these fools never ceases to amaze me, but even more amazing is why they think their opinions about politics matter to anyone else.

ProfessorMiao on February 6, 2009 at 4:21 PM

How in the world does she even talk with those blown up lips?

ctmom on February 6, 2009 at 4:21 PM

“I just don’t understand how anyone would want to be a Republican interview Cher.”

CP on February 6, 2009 at 4:21 PM

Isn’t her ex-husband’s widow a Republican Congresswoman?

Indeed. Politics was not something she and Sonny shared, though she probably supported his widow’s most famous accomplishment: Making sure their songs would never stop earning them money, one of the most anti-free-market things that could have been done (as noted by Friedman himself: Google “Friedman no-brainer”). Sadly, though the “pro-gay” Cher was devastated over their daughter’s lesbianism and Sonny accepted it instantly, politics caused the estrangement of the daughter from Sonny. I’d think that she of all people would want to avoid unnecessary political jibes.

calbear on February 6, 2009 at 4:21 PM

Man, life must have been so hard with all those millions in the bank and all that plastic surgery she’s had.

If Cher can’t understand why people are Republicans, I can’t understand how Cher is so stupid.

Lay-Z on February 6, 2009 at 4:21 PM

Does botox cause your brain to go smooth? If you cant move your face and show emotion, then surely it wont allow new wrinkles on the brain right?

generouse on February 6, 2009 at 4:23 PM

“I just don’t understand how anyone would want to be a Republican.”

Yeah, well I don’t understand how anyone would want to be a plastic whore that hasn’t done anything for years yet has the audacity to think what she says is relevant or worth anything…oh and don’t let the fact you used Sonny to get what you wanted and then threw him out like he was yesterday’s trash!

Whatever you shallow biatch, just don’t stand too close to your fireplace or you’ll melt that plastic heart and brain of yours along with the rest of your fake body parts!

Liberals never listen to the truth.

EXCACTLY HOW did Republicans “almost kill” her???

She’s sipping Demi Moore and Ashley Judd’s Kool-aid!

rightwingmom on February 6, 2009 at 4:32 PM

While I found her statements reprehensible and pitiful, some of the comments here on HotAir are downright mean spirited and embarrassing.

Come on guys – lay off her looks and focus on her ideas and actions. Be constructive, not mean spirited. You are acting just they way Leftists sterotype conservatives as acting.

Aren’t some of you embarrassed by your comments? Are your words worthy of your ideals? Would you be embarrassed if your kids found out what you wrote?

ksm on February 6, 2009 at 4:33 PM

RWLA on February 6, 2009 at 4:34 PM

and we care what this person has to say because……?

Yeah, I could give a flying crap but because there are in fact drones out there who believe Cher of all people is someone who should influence their thought, I guess it is notable to an extent.

Meh, whatever.

KSM — I don’t know if you are new to HotAir, but it can be brutal. Today, having participated in several discussion threads during which I have made constructive comments and used not a word of profanity, I have been told to:

1) pull up my panties
2) wipe the blood of my butt
3) pull my head out of my a**, and
4) STFU

I complained to Ed and AP and it apparently didn’t bother them.

Maybe the quotes about her looks have something to do with how superficial these pissants are. While they decry how evil Conservatives are and how little they contribute to society, they go get another skin job.

I’d say that it is a perfect commentary on how ridiculous and superficial their opinions are. By their very faces, they show what is and isn’t important in their lives.

Laura in Maryland on February 6, 2009 at 4:43 PM

Eh. Let’s be realistic.

Most of these people couldn’t explain the difference between Democrats and Republicans. Most of them could never define liberalism or conservatism or any other political ideology.

They don’t know. They don’t care. It’s just a club they belong to, and since they’re in it, they can’t figure out why anybody would be in the other club.

There’s no point in getting in a dither over their opinions, because they don’t even have opinions. They just follow the herd and say what they’re told to say.

They don’t even know what any of it means. It’s just noise.

Professor Blather on February 6, 2009 at 4:43 PM
