David Obey on stimulus waste: “So what?”

posted at 2:10 pm on February 6, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via Breitbart, the “logic” of panic as articulated by Congress’s cuddliest Democrat. An even more glorious soundbite than Mitch McConnell’s yardstick for measuring a trillion dollars, I think you’ll agree. But is it more glorious than this?

Recounting a conversation he had with Obama in the Oval Office earlier in the week regarding the economic stimulus bill and other matters, Biden said the two came to the realization that: “If we do everything right… there’s still a 30 percent chance we’re going to get it wrong.”

This piece of filth is my congressman. I hate him, and only wish the worst upon this pacifist troll.

Keep in mind, he also found a way to stick a million for his son’s eco-Nazi group in this bill.

What a f&^king a$$hole.

It’s a disaster! It means he actually asks Biden’s opinions on things. Truly, I never thought that would happen. I thought Biden was an establishment figurehead only.

President Pelosi’s Panic Package

I have never seen a leader of state so completely panicked, one who has been subordinated to Pelosi/ Obey/ Reid congress.

The panic is not reassuring to the American people or the world. Our enemies are now taking full measure of Mr. Obama.

The politics of fear is now emanating from Washington at the highest levels, the White House. President Obama’s new energy secretary, Steven Chu, warned the world yesterday that California’s agriculture base was likely to become a wasteland if Global Warming continued.

It looks like the “Hope ‘N Change” Party has been transformed into the “Fear ‘N Manipulation” Mob. No worthwhile decision is made while operating out of fear, except maybe to vacate a burning house. And, this house isn’t really burning; they just say it is so we can be manipulated into caving to their Socialist agenda…

As the CBO report yesterday concludes, better for the economy in a few years to do NOTHING now than to enact this miserable ‘stimulus’ bill.

Probably better to pay people to dig holes in a field and fill them in, rather than dole out the partisan pork in this bill.

AP, you need to warn people when there’s an audio clip coming of one of those annoying NPR voices. My skin is still crawling.

rivlax on February 6, 2009 at 2:52 PM

i know this is lame, but i gotta point out that this was supposed to be my scoop.

by the way, the audio for this isn’t up yet, but rep. david obey was his typical self in this morning edition interview.

Obey says, “So what? This is an emergency. We’ve got to simply find a way to get this done as fast as possible and as well as possible, and that’s what we’re doing.”

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=100304449

i heard it on the radio and i guarantee that when the audio becomes availible on the site, it’ll be worth clipping into a youtube vid.

i had actually just gotten back from an interview and imported the audio into premier when i refreshed the page and saw this.

you may now golf-clap derisively.

Does anyone really believe the demonstrably corrupt and incompetent Democrat Party doesn’t believe it’s offal is not odorous?

I read Victor Davis Hanson’s latest entry in the ever growing Intellectual Clue Clubbing of President Empty Suit.

We see the Know-nothing Harpy Harridan proclaiming ‘500 million Americans have lost their job while simultaneously holding the House of Barons’ Testicle Lock Box to do a Deep Throat ramming on the next several generations.

We look at Kali-fornia, the third largest state in this Republic and now paying IOUs to its citizens and furloughing State employees due to the spend-aholics in the Democrat ruled State Government.

We look to Tax-achusetts where the Speaker of the House is preparing to resign due to, as The Radio Equalizer puts it, shady dealings.

The (former) Democrat Governor of Illinois was IMPEACHED for crying out loud!

Miss Barney Frank, Wisconsin’s own Dairy Queen, and Connecticut’s Silver Capybara are central to the economic collapse that this Republic is experiencing

Democrat politicians at virtually every level are under indictment. Yet, 52% of the voters have given the keys to the kingdom to these dis-honorable, avaricious criminals.

Why do we tolerate such behavior?

SO WHAT? What about the money that was spent incorrectly? The moron cannot see beyond his own ideological glasses…the money is then gone, Mr. Olbey, and we have to foot the bill in a time where we can’t afford to spend more money we don’t have.

My only hope is that when this stimulus package drives the country into economic chaos, the people of this country will rise up in one united voice and demand term limitation on every single member of Congress, regardless of whatever their party affiliation is.

This is the only way we will ever get any measure of change in this country, because the people running the show right now are driving everything into the ground. They need to be removed from their offices and positions of power now!

pilamaye on February 7, 2009 at 8:51 AM

“So what if we force banks to loan money to people that can’t repay? So what?”

“So what if Franklin Raines gets millions of dollars in bonuses while people lose their homes and 401ks”?
“So what?”

Politicians like Obey are so what is wrong with this country.
