Obama said what?

Jim Geraghty reports on Barack Obama’s statement on the sanctity of human life during today’s National Prayer Breakfast:
“We know there is no God who condones the killing of an innocent human being.”
Well, great! Perhaps then President Obama would also agree that we know no God who condones the negligent killing of innocent human beings who survive abortions. Of course, Obama would have to acknowledge now that his position has changed since his days in the Illinois state legislature, when he helped protect abortionists by blocking legislation that would have required a second doctor to act on behalf of infants born alive after an abortion. God knows that those children were and are innocents, alive at birth, and left to die in abortion mills.
Perhaps that will also lead Obama to oppose the Freedom of Choice Act, which would remove all existing restrictions on the killing of innocent human beings in the womb. After all, once the sperm and egg combine, the result is a unique being, completely human, and alive. That isn’t a theological determination, but a scientific fact at the moment the cell begins to multiply, within minutes of conception. Certainly that would be the apex of innocence. If no God condones the killing of an innocent human being, the condemnation for that act would begin at life itself.
We will remind Presisdent Obama of his profound words at every opportunity over the next four years, and thank him for making this as clear as possible.

Unfortunately, for President Barry and the libtards, that fetus isn’t a human being. It’s just a clump of tissue. And that baby that survives an abortion? It’s not a human being. It’s a nuisance or an inconvenience.
On the other hand, that course I took on “How to perform Clinton word-parsing” really seems to have paid off.
Mallard T. Drake on February 5, 2009 at 12:35 PM
Ahh…that clarifies it for me. I’m now at peace… The argument that fetuses are not humans is the most arrogantly stupid one that I have every heard. But when one goes into the abortion clinic to kill one’s child, one has to have something to hang on to. But one still has one’s consience talking to one years later when one figures out that the “fetus” left to develop becomes a baby which is a human…which logically tells one that it was a human all along!
sabbott on February 5, 2009 at 12:36 PM

Then what are we debating? Once that assumption is assumed, you are right of course. Abortion is MURDER.
So when does God put that soul in? When does that spark of consciousness begin? I myself cannot remember anything prior to being four and a half years old — when I could stand on a rock in my back yard and see over the fence and watch my neighbors tortoises eat lettuce. Maybe God doesn’t give us a soul with consciousness until our ability to remember starts (3 to 5 years). Maybe God gives us a pass on infanticide. Prove me wrong.

For Democrats … “innocent life” includes murderers and rapists on death row – who could be voting Democrat and GITMO prisoners who could be taught to vote Democrat also.
“innocent life” doesn’t include babies in the womb for a Democrat.
HondaV65 on February 5, 2009 at 12:40 PM
This is from the same guy who thought it was fine to let infants die if they had survived an abortion.
INC on February 5, 2009 at 12:41 PM
Then what are we debating? Once that assumption is assumed, you are right of course. Abortion is MURDER.
That’s not an assumption, it’s scientific fact. The “assumptions” come in when you start asking about ensoulment — but ensoulment doesn’t have anything to do with the science of life. Life exists when cells divide to multiply, and the cell in question is undeniably human, with unique human DNA and a full set of 23 pairs of chromosomes.
That’s why abortion is murder, regardless of ensoulment.

Obama’s new Presidential Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships head is Joshua DuBois who is being portrayed primarily as a former mainstream pastor.
However, Mr. DuBois is nothing more than an Ayers’ style agitator and a young version of Rev Wright. He received a degree in Political Science in 2003 and a masters in public affairs in 2005. He has worked for Charlie Rangel and Obama as a Senate aide.
He worked for several years for Sojourners, a black liberation theology community organizing group.

Sorry, some may fault me for drawing a distinction without a difference, but I connote the word negligent with, say, accidents resulting from carelessness.
Negligence represents a state of mind that falls short of recklessness and falls far short of intention. I see no negligence in the conduct of those who left surviving babies to die. Those people had no intention to help those babies. Rather, they made a conscious, intentional decision to leave them to die. That’s not negligence–that’s a callous disregard for human life that I find both chilling and ghoulish in Obama.
And that’s beyond debate.

I would refer to the Biblical quotation (from which book, I don’t recall) “Before you were formed in the womb, I knew you.” To me, that translates that ensoulment takes place at conception.
