Formerly perfect being admits: “I screwed up”

posted at 7:10 pm on February 3, 2009 by Allahpundit

From this afternoon’s sitdown with Anderson Cooper, one of five interviews scheduled to talk about the stimulus that ended up getting sidetracked by Daschlepalooza. That’s a mistake on top of a mistake: They should have dumped him and Killefer last week, let the media go nuts over the weekend, then gotten back on message today.

Quoth The One: “I don’t want to send a message to the American people that there are two sets of standards, one for powerful people and one for ordinary folks who are working every day and paying their taxes.” Hello?

I saw the Chris Wallace interview with Obama earlier, and Chris asked him if there was anything different with the job of President that he didn’t know before hand…

And Obama said that he didn’t know the decisions were of such importance, or vital. Or something like that.

I screwed up.

Wow! That’s some vocabulary the idiot messiah has. This is the second time I’ve heard him use the word “screwed” as if it is Presidential-speak. I guess that’s how they teach them at Columbia and Harvard. How pathetic.

All I can say is that, as incompetent as the idiot messiah has been over these domestic matters, his foreign policy and advisors are 100000 times worse.

The libs have really, to quote their great orator, “screwed” us. They couldn’t find someone with a triple digit IQ, at least?

Yep. The day after the election I felt as if we were watching a new nuclear aircraft carrier steam out of port with a 12 year old captain whose only qualifications were that he used to play with rubber ships in the bathtub. Now, it appears that he didn’t even play with rubber ships. But, liberals and idiots see movies about ship captains and think, “Hey, anyone can do that.”

This will not end well.

He has absolutely no respect for the office or the American people.

IrishEi on February 3, 2009 at 8:04 PM

“Unreal” is right. This dovetails very nicely with the idiot messiah’s declaration to arab TV that it was HIS JOB to educate the American people about how nice and loving islam is.

This is all just so far beyond the pale that it’s hard to really take it in. I still have my fingers crossed that our SCOTUS will find some intellectual honesty and rule on one of the cases involving multiple citizenship and the Presidency … though I don’t really think they have it in them.

progressoverpeace on February 3, 2009 at 8:16 PM

When Obama first announced his candidacy, that whole “I made a mistake” thing was actually kind of refreshing, but I have to say that it wore off rather quickly, and became one of many reasons that I just couldn’t vote for him.

Someone needs to tell him that Presidents don’t go on TV and say, “I screwed up.” That’s not refreshing honesty anymore, it’s incompetence, lack of leadership, and not what someone in his pay grade needs to be projecting to the world or to the country during a time when people are looking for strength. He has people to take the blame for that. He hasn’t had any trouble revving up the bus before! What a complete tool.

He is the most ideologically and philosophically confused man to lead this country.

This will make many of his die hard believers take comfort in knowing he is genuine and honest. Wow. A real different kind of leader…

That is very true. It is very fixed and has been for decades. I should have made it more clear that to ordinary, freedom loving, American capitalists, his core belief system (socialism/communism) is a failed system. A system that functions contrary to human nature. Now that he is able to bring his lifelong fantasies to fruition he will find more internal and external conflict doing so. More than your average person. And that is the trip will all be forced to take with him.

He picked the wrong country to do this. This country is unique in that independence is almost genetic.
His agenda will be an epic battle.

I think the election of Obama was the best thing for this country.

I’m getting the feeling that the sleeping giant has awakened and Obama’s ascension could be causing the inner patriot to come out in more and more Americans as they feel more and more threatened.

marklmail on February 3, 2009 at 9:22 PM

This thread is kind of hilarious. Obama’s mea culpa is exactly why so many Americans voted for this guy. People didn’t just reject Bush Administration policy, they rejected the Bush style of governing which is:
1. Work the refs. Call liberal bias all day long and night and complain to the base you’re being treated unfairly.
2. Unblinking look at the evidence of your mistake and claim, “we 100% have no regrets (until December 2008″
3. Never ever back down ever.

And now Obama is evidencing the kind of leadership that should be modeled. Takes the mistake on the chin, says he screwed up and they are moving forward having learned a lesson. You can continue to gnash your teeth, but you’d be gnashing your teeth regardless. Only in ODS mangled brains will this be a story beyond this week.

ROFLMAO! You are out of your mind. NO ONE in their right mind would want to model the worst start to a Presidential tenure in history. You are crazy.

Dude seriously? Over the-fracking-top. The worst start to a Presidency in history? You kind of render everything else you say entirely illegit when you start there. What’s it like in Obama Derangement land?

You are correct. This won’t be a story in a week, because the idiot messiah will have made 8 other gigantic mistakes in the meantime. It’s hard to remember all the awful, stupid, ridiculous things he does and says.

Thanks for putting the retard in office. You guys are great.

progressoverpeace on February 3, 2009 at 9:30 PM

You are a pretty hateful person…chill out.

Someone needs to tell him that Presidents don’t go on TV and say, “I screwed up.”

Why don’t they do that. The President isn’t a God appointed Deity-King. He’s a human and therefore he also makes mistakes. Again, the people on this site are so incredibly tone deaf.

You are essentially saying that you think the President should treat Americans like they are idiots. They know the Daschle think is a f*ck up. The media knows it’s a f*ck up. HE knows it’s a f*ck up. And instead of insulting all of our intelligence he admits it. How is this bad? People didn’t hate Bush because of the things progressive said. They hated him because they weren’t stupid and they could see when the President had fouled up and were dumbfounded when he and Cheney repeatedly said “everything’s fine.”

DeathToMediaHacks on February 3, 2009 at 9:42 PM

So, Obama can’t choose his staff without ridiculous mistakes, and we are supposed to believe he can solve the serious problems America faces?

This is really the most qualified person to fill the office of the Presidency? Really?!?

18-1 on February 3, 2009 at 9:50 PM

As far as what Michelle said, I can’t imagine Laura Bush saying something like that, no matter how she might have felt? I can’t. It seems somehow inappropriate to me–taking a little more of the honor and duty to country aura away from the White House.

It irks me when people treat the office of the Presidency as if it were an unskilled job that any moron can be put into. BHO is an idiot and has shown himself to be so inept that it boggles the mind. Thanks again.

No. We’re saying that a President should have a vocabulary that extends beyond the phrase “screwed up”. Have you no concept of the dignity of the office? No, you don’t. That’s why you decided that the Presidency is an affirmative action spot to be filled by any moron with the right skin.

progressoverpeace on February 3, 2009 at 9:52 PM

No. We’re saying that a President should have a vocabulary that extends beyond the phrase “screwed up”.

OMG, what IS it with you? First you hate on Obama for his flowery, professorial prose and use it as evidence he’s an elitist. And now you are mad at him because he said “screwed up.” The most plainspoken way to say “I made a mistake” out there? Would you prefer a politician non apology along the lines of “I regret that these revelations have come to light, had I been made aware of them by my staff, rest assured and blah blah blah.” The hypocrasy is literally pouring out of the computer screen and jamming my keyboard.

Essentially, that’s the Democrat/libtard plan of the day. Daschle would have been confirmed and well on his way to helping The One turn this great country into a giant mongoloid version of Sweden if his ‘honest mistakes’ on his taxes weren’t shouting out loud.

I think it’s all in the order of their confirmations. Half of the American public (this is your peeps) are brain dead morons. Proof?? Look at what got elected President. Bet even retards get pissed when the jello tastes funny two days in a row.

If Daschle went first and Geithner went second. Maybe Tom/Sally gets confirmed and then public outrage slaps down Geithner.

The whole idea that Liberals think every day joe is an idiot is their bread and butter…it’s just that when people like you think you’re on the ‘smart’ side that makes the whole thing delicious.

Or I could just go with what I use on the other Toilet Bug…

Shut up Douche Bag.

And instead of insulting all of our intelligence he admits it.

DeathToMediaHacks on February 3, 2009 at 9:42 PM

Uh, maybe because he’s still insulting my intelligence? After all, when the news of Daschle’s tax problems came out, when Obama KNEW all about the issue publically, he still went out and defended Daschle, right? It was ONLY when the NY Times turned on Daschle did Obama threw him under the bus.

So it’s an insult to my intelligence to hear that Obama is doing this because of his new-found appreciation of the moral qualms with Daschle’s tax problem. It’s not the tax problem that bothering Obama, it’s the NY Times problem.

Tell me, if Daschle’s nomination wasn’t sunk, would Obama be admitting to a mistake? Of course not. So the mistake is a political mistake, not a moral one – no matter how Obama tries to spin it.

PackerBronco on February 3, 2009 at 10:07 PM

OMG, what IS it with you? First you hate on Obama for his flowery, professorial prose and use it as evidence he’s an elitist.

Huh? I have never been impressed with any of his prose and always called the guy an idiot, which he is. You must be confusing me with someone else. I’ve thought that all of his speeches were pitifully ignorant and simple-minded – the way his voters like them. Try and stick to things I have actually said.

And now you are mad at him because he said “screwed up.”

I like dignity and intelligence in my Presidents. Call me silly. Of course, BHO was not hired to be a President, but to be a Precedent, so he’s doing that job pretty well. He certainly is setting precedents … in stupidity, ignorance, classless speech, anti-Americanism, …

The most plainspoken way to say “I made a mistake” out there?

That would be, “I made a mistake”, or “I erred”. Look, I understand that he’s aa affirmative action Harvard man, so I never expected much out of him.

Would you prefer a politician non apology along the lines of “I regret that these revelations have come to light, had I been made aware of them by my staff, rest assured and blah blah blah.” The hypocrasy is literally pouring out of the computer screen and jamming my keyboard.

Here in flyover country it’s really pretty simple to us. If the guy you’re interviewing is a tax cheat, his resume gets tossed into the circular file and you go onto the next guy. I expect nothing less from my president and I’m not going to praise him for anything less than that.

Bottom Line: Obama knew about this issue and he didn’t give a damn until it was going to hurt HIM. All of this other stuff is just Obama trying to limit the damage in whatever way he thinks will work for him.

PackerBronco on February 3, 2009 at 10:19 PM

Hopefully he self-destructs and we get to impeach him and have gruff, but lovable, Joe for the next four years.
