Here’s your explanation – and yes, it it is irrespective of political bent. I hear a ton about Soros and Kennedy being nailed to the wall for it as well as the two more recent examples of questionable (if not outright illegal) behavior with respect to tax laws. I just see an apparent lack of the right-wing on looking at their own on the issue and encouraging those folks to come forward.

As for the morality – this is what I’m meaning. If they’re so proud of it, come on out and admit it.

Personally, I would rather have very strict enforcement in tax code in exchange for a very-close-to-zero tax rate for all business-related activities conducted within this country.

So, Put together a PAC and a website with videos of how each of these people was screwed with and ending for each one of “Democrat leaders like Tom Daschle got away with evading 120,000 in taxes. Mike Smith had his life ruined for 1,239.12. Call your Senators and Representative today”

Then have a march at washington starting at the IRS building, then the capitol and ending up at 1600 pennsylvania of the people who felt the full wrath of the IRS.

Bonus, get as many people as you can to call the tiplines for the media and tie their damn phones up for the day.

Call it Bastille Day without the Guillotines …

I hear there would be plenty of folks already unemployed who have no issue with being with the IRS.

OTOH, I’d join up if I could have the honor of busting: Daschle, Rangel, Geithner (Bust your boss – cool), Obama (A drunken monkey could figure out that there was at least 50 grand in undeclared ‘income’ in the obamamansion deal). Cold Cash Jefferson… “Uh, Mr. Dashle, be careful of getting into the car with those handcuffs so you don’t hit your head…” THUNK.

Hell, I’d almost PAY to have that job.

Actually I thanked him for pointing out some of the most egregious examples of dems using “tax havens”…I think his are valuable in the sense that what he posts, ends up being a disaster for the dems.
wRangels argument of not paying taxes on rent he received was because his investment was “off shore”, a tax haven.
wRangel has never paid the fines or the interest on this tax evasion.
So thanks to sethstorm for pointing out how the dems have been using tax havens, we have actual proof that the dems are using that to cheat the U.S.

You forgot that there was a time when tax havens were universally considered the same as tax cheating.

Hey, HA readers, here’s a red herring alert.

I’ve chased this clown sethstorm for several days on a couple of threads addressing the tax issues relating to Geithner and Daschle. Each time he throws up the red herring of tax havens without explaining the issue and, then, without providing a link to demonstrate that it’s a uniquely Republican problem.

Don’t waste your time. Besides, he’s doing nothing more than engaging in a rhetorical technique in which, because his guys are conducting themselves indefensibly, he chooses to change the subject. Obama did the same thing in his famous race speech. There, the issue was how Obama could sit in that hateful man’s church for 20 years, and, according to Obama, the issue was really about race in America. Yeah, right. Thanks for changing the subject.

At any rate, the only issue with Geithner and Daschle is whether they are honest people. Given the way that they’ve handled their tax matters, I say that they aren’t. As it’s been said, character is how you conduct yourself when no one is looking. Geithner and Daschle fail this test. In the end, we deserve better.

Granted, we’ll have to clean up the mess. But I’d rather get that over with sooner than later.

Explain “tax havens”…do you mean like wRangel did with his offshore investments? Or what Soros is doing offshore? Do you mean Feinstein’s husband’s offshore businesses that she was caught giving contracts to? Or do you mean Feinsteins and Pelosi’s businesses that they gave special income tax breaks to? Maybe Kennedy’s holdings and banking in the Carribean?
You mean those kinds of tax havens?
The dems made those legal after they had been caught…except they forgot to pay taxes like wRangel, and they never paid any late penalaties, like wRangel.

There have always been crooks in Washington… but now they don’t even try to hide it anymore… and somehow STILL get elected and re-elected.

That’s because there is nobody decent to run against them, to give us an alternative to the same ol’ same ol’. The party machine puts up a candidate and says, “vote for him.” Nobody else to vote for.
On the other hand, I doubt decent people would be in politics in the first place.
