The public school system IS a joke.
Down here in our little corner we are pretty well insulated from most of the crap.
For instance- our music program for Christmas puts on a religious pageant. Imagine that!
There are a few radical teachers here, though, that want to get rid of that, but so far they’ve remained quiet with the large Catholic & Lutheran population.

No, not ragging on you about being a union member. I grew up on a ranch here in Texas, so I know the frustration of trying to make ends meet and the need for a second income. I also think that the public school system is a joke, but here at least, the unions are part of the problem.
