In an ideal world, the SCOTUS would declare anyone who ever held dual citizenship to be ineligible for the Presidency, as the Founders were very clear about wanting only people who were “pure Americans”, insofar as their allegiances through life, to be eligible for the position.

But we live in a world gone insane, not an ideal one. That’s why we have a “world citizen” as our Precedent who ran campaign stops in Europe. Utterly pathetic.

Maybe Geithner thought that the Obama administration figured this would be a good time to touch off a trade war — right in the middle of a serious and possibly severe global recession.

Yeah well if Geithner’s comments about the Chinese don’t end up starting a trade war then all the protectionist policies the Democrats crammed into the stimulus bill certainly will. Western Countries like Australia, Germany, England, France, and Canada are already thinking about excluding US products and services from their own stimulus programs in retaliation for what they see as the US government’s violation of its free trade agreements with those nations and its obligations as a member of the World Trade Organisation.

I hope Michelle will defer your pay to 2009 instead of 2008, given that you’ll be on their hit list now.

Heck, you might even qualify for Obama’s ‘tax credit’ if you have no 2008 income. woohoo!

Regarding purchasing price parity, I can tell you for a fact that beer is much cheaper in China than the US, about 3 kuai (RMB) for a 640ml bottle of Suntory. That’s about 45 cents. And there’s a lot of beer in China. I don’t know if this was taken into consideration in the PPP comparisons…

Otherwise prices are generally higher here, particularly for big ticket items like homes, automobiles, electronics, etc. These revised estimates seem believable to me.

A couple of nights ago I had dinner and discussion with good friends. They are committed liberals, wonderful people and smart. Soooo – I asked them about Timothy Geithner, our new Treasury Secretary. Why had President Obama selected a guy……

They clearly have not yet made the transition from “campaign” mode to presidential mode.

The whole lot of them are laughable.

I liked what John Bolton (a REAL foriegn policy genius) said about the Obama admin in a recent interview. (paraphrasing) They clearly have not yet made the transition from “campaign” mode to presidential mode.

The whole lot of them are laughable. And Biden having to come to your rescue is a sure sign that you’ve really put your foot in your mouth.
