Awesome: GOP congressman introduces “the Rangel rule”

posted at 4:06 pm on January 29, 2009 by Allahpundit

I love it. If we’re destined to be stuck in the minority for the foreseeable future, we might as well have fun with it.

The legislation calls for the creation of what [Rep. John Carter, R-Texas] calls the, “Rangel Rule,” — drawing attention to the recent legal issues of House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charlie Rangel, D-N.Y., enabling citizens who fail to pay taxes on time to do so later with no additional fees.

Rangel, who writes the country’s tax policies, acknowledged last fall that he failed to pay thousands in real estate taxes for rental income he earned from a property in the Dominican Republic.

As of September 2008 the Harlem Democrat reportedly paid back more than $10,000 in taxes but that did not include any IRS penalties.

“As Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, I believe you set an example for all American taxpayers in your dealings with the IRS, and that you must do so in a way that enforces blind justice without regard to wealth or status,” he wrote in the January 6th missive.

The sweetest part of this? When it comes to legislative stunts aimed at redressing supposed economic inequality, Carter obviously learned from the master. Exit question: Can we add an amendment to the bill for taxpayer-paid Cadillacs and rent-controlled apartments, too?

Rangle Rule…we need to start a list of “rules/laws” based on the action of our “leaders”.
Ones that allow special reduction in loans
Ones where we don’t have to pay back loans
Ones where we can have sexual relations in the work place
Ones where we can take secret documents and destroy them
We have so many laws to pass, and so little time.

jencab on January 29, 2009 at 4:52 PM

The Rangel Rule sounds awesome can we add the Geitner exception clause to that also? I mean the precedent is already set right?

canditaylor68 on January 29, 2009 at 4:52 PM

Other legislation I would introduce to highlight the behavior and ideology of the Left:

1) A bill declaring that children can be killed up to age 1 month “If the mother finds them inconvenient”

And up to 1 year if the life of the baby in any way threatens the life, health, emotional well-being, good mood or cheer of the mother, or forces her to miss Oprah excessively.

2) A bill declaring that polygamy, marrying your sister, dog, horse or car, etc are all ok, because it is a “civil right”.

Unless you met through an internet “broker”, in which case you have to provide your family and criminal background and obtain sign consent before you’re allowed to say “hello”. Furthermore, the other wife, sister, dog, horse or car can run to a shelter and claim “abuse”, in which case you get a restraining order, a criminal history and are forced to pay damanges and child, cult or puppy support, without being allowed at the hearings.

3) A bill saying that criticizing government officials is illegal unless the official being criticized is a Republican.

4) A bill giving animals the same consitutional rights as Americans.

5) A bill that says that judges should interpret the law “without regard to what is written, but rather, in such a way as to advance their personal agendas”.

6) A bill saying that the government has an obligation to provide everyone with health care, a home to live in and an above average paying job.

That doesn’t mean you’re entitled to 6-month cleanings, gall bladder surgery or appendix removal. You have to wait in line 2 years for these, and can be denied if you’re determined to be too dumb, conservative or old, in which case you’re of no value to society — but hey, everyone’s covered!

7) A bill announcing that free maket system is hereby suspended “because the government can do it better”. We might just as well suspend the law of gravity also.

8) A bill saying it is ok to reveal national security secrets to the public if you are “earnestly upset about their implications”.

9) A bill saying that conservatives are mentally deficient and therefore do not have the right of free speech.

Genetic tests are required for all newborns to determine “perpensity” to be a “mentally deficient” conservative, and a clause to rule (1) increases the age to 3 years, or 5 years if the mother can’t watch Oprah regularly!

Of course, the point ot these bills is to take the philospohy of the left to its logical conclusion and therefore show its idiocy.

What bills would you introduce?

wRangel will never be “not elected”, unless he….no, I don’t think even that, so he won’t ever be “unelected”.
The dems have elected:
And this is after they have been exposed, not that they were caught in office, but actually elected with this on their resume:
Tax evaders
Drug addicts
Paying for prostitutes
Paying for illicit children
Stealing money
Fraud
Pushing contracts to their husband’s businesses
Shady land deals (several)
Illegal laborers (suggested, but stopped any investigation on her vineyards, so not confirmed)
Having cronies steal secret documents and destroy them
Calling and accusing innocent soldiers murderers
Taking bribes
Taking “no-interest” loans
Never paying back “loans”
Affairs (minor according to libs)
Having sex with leaders of business, whom they are “overseeing”
The same person using their “home” as a bordello
Same person fixing parking tickets for customers of the bordello
Abandoning, in a drunken stupor, someone to drown in a car driven by them
Same person accused of molesting women
*
This is after these things happened they were still elected…
This is just a partial list, just off the top of my head, others could add many more…all democrats

Mallard T. Drake on January 29, 2009 at 5:34 PM

Love it! The IRS comes in with their threatening letters and you pull out your “get out of jail” card by producing a receipt for TurboTax! H&R Block gives your people. The Senate confirming this tax cheat gives us TurboTax users far more protection from the law.

Seriously though, how sad is it that the Rangal Rule even exists as a concept? If Americans trusted the Congress, none of this would even be under discussion. Instead we have criminals like William Jefferson spending four years in power before being defeated. Blagonovich selling off the IL Senate appointment. Rangal cheating on taxes for years. A cabinet filled with “ethically challenged” public officials. A corrupt intellectually bereft martinet elevated to high office by the darker forces of the Democrat Party.

Thanks to the elections of 2008, America is essentially embracing the worst aspects of the Soviet Union. Leader who silences dissenting voices, a political class where the normal rules (like paying taxes) don’t apply, and massive government interference in every aspect of American life. Why don’t we just rename the filthy bastard’s cabinet the “politburo” and name Rahm Emanuel as the head of the central committee? That’s where we are headed!

You’re Barney Frank, you’re as corrupt as you are incompetent, but it doesn’t matter because the Democrat voters in Massachusetts will vote you back into office no matter what you do.

You.. can be a millionaire.. and never pay taxes! You can be a millionaire.. and never pay taxes! You say.. “Steve.. how can I be a millionaire.. and never pay taxes?” First.. get a million dollars. Now.. you say, “Steve.. what do I say to the tax man when he comes to my door and says, ‘You.. have never paid taxes’?” Two simple words. Two simple words in the English language: “I forgot!” How many times do we let ourselves get into terrible situations because we don’t say “I forgot”? Let’s say you’re on trial for armed robbery. You say to the judge, “I forgot armed robbery was illegal.” Let’s suppose he says back to you, “You have committed a foul crime. you have stolen hundreds and thousands of dollars from people at random, and you say, ‘I forgot’?” Two simple words: Excuuuuuse me!!”
