Today, on the Ed Morrissey Show (3 pm ET), we’re going to do something new. Instead of having a guest to interview, we’ll connect TEMS chatizens with their Representative or Senator to protest the Democratic Porkfest Bill of 2009, aka the stimulus package quarterbacked by Nancy Pelosi. If this works well, we’ll do it all hour long. Here’s what you need to do:
1. Register for Ustream chat as noted below before the show starts.
2. Work with me or Jazz Shaw, our partner in this effort, by private message in the chat room to give him your phone number and the phone number of your Representative (or Senator), and your real name. Don’t make Jazz look it up — we simply won’t have the time.
You can find those numbers at the House and Senate websites.
3. Jazz will give both to me, and I’ll call you and your elected official, where you can read off one particular pork item you find objectionable and urge the official to vote against the package.
Help us Melt the Phones in DC to oppose this big-government wish list!
Now you can join the conversation in the chat room! Be sure to register at Ustream to participate in our raucous live-chat sessions. (And if the log-in prompt doesn’t come up in the chat box below, use this link instead.) Jazz Shaw of The Moderate Voice moderates the chat, and he has his Troll Gun Trivia Contest running before the show, for those who get there early — and are registered!

Wish I had the day off today. Awesome idea though, Ed.

Failing that, might I suggest everyone call or e-mail their congressrodent? I sent off a missive this morning even though I know it won’t make one whit of difference with this particular (GOP) Representative. He’s never seen a bailout that he isn’t fully in support of, even though all the money that Michigan will get is going to be spent in Detroit and on the pet projects of organized labor. Western Michigan will be screwed over once again by the criminals in Lansing and Carl effing Levin’s crowd.

In washington state both the cowardly democratic senators
have to shut off their phone systems
they are already overwhelmed
Star to FLOOD their email servers
I sent them this
to my so called senators who have betrayed this nation
if you bankrupt America with this disastrous bill
If you destroy America by forcing my children into abject poverty
If you destroy the constitution of the united states of America
we will hold all democrats responsible for this fiasco
and we will declare that ALL of the senate and House have
abdicated their responsibilities and are no longer fit to serve
We will not OBEY you nor your laws
For you have decided on your own to disobey the Citizens of the United States of America
thank you

Just heard that Obama is inviting key members of Congress to the White House for drinks to bend their ears on the stimulus package.
Is this the work of a representative democracy? Will the Obama’s housewarming cocktail party be televised?

I called Congressman Hastings. Do I need to call the senators, too? Are they voting or just congress?

Good work, Ed!

Went to my congressman’s local office today and voiced my opposition. The line was literally out the door, the phones rang non-stop and people were pissed. I did the same thing during the Amensty Bill, and the lines and phone activity was even larger today.
Btw, this in a district with a DEMOCRATIC congressman.
If this passes with little or no Republican suppport; expect a Deja Vu of 1994 in 2010.

If the GOP had balls, which, after Bush and McCain we must concede that it does not, it will begin NOW to target every democrat House member who won election by a margin of less than 20%. Those people must be made to know that every single vote they cast might be the one that costs them their seat 2 years from now. We should not let a week go by without a mass mailing to every registered voter in those districts.
AND, the GOP National Committee should let it be known that they will provide no funding in 2 years for any GOP congressman who votes ‘yes’ to the stimulus package.

I believe in capitolism as long as
the table is fair
the laws are enforced
and the liberals also live by the rules
But that isnt the case now
Republicans screwed the pooch by not holding the spending line for 8 years
but the real trounching was watching wall street getting bailout money
then all the CEOS and CFOS jumoping out the windows with their golden parachutes looking down upon all of us
Poor saps who got Screwed in the ASS
then on wall street hedge fund managers RAPED the 401k system so bad it caused a 2000 point drop and again
republicans bailed them all out (thats the other 2 trillion dolars) so they also gleefully floated down to wall street with Diamond encrusted Gold patracvhutes
and yes this included All fo the clinton friends and the george soros as well as the republican friends
Again looking down upon all of us poor saps who were stupid enough to put their money into the 401k system
I have to go home to my family and explain that any hope of retirement (i am 12 years away) is offically GONE
and im one of the lucky ones who still has his job..
Nope the republicans got what they deserved..
I will wait and see
if the democrats destroy whats left of the country we
Will have to clean out all 535 commanders in cheif
by Force..
If somehow we make it and arent nuked by iranian terrorists for 2 years then and if and only IF the republicans STOP ALL spending period
they might have one change to regain some power
If we dont KILL ALL of the politicians FIRST.,.

This bill will do nothing but line the pockets of politicians, which of course will stimulate them to orgasm.
While the public, on the receiving end of this orgasm, are left fully exposed and exploited.
If you are tired of being screwed and not getting any enjoyment then it is time for a divorce. Until 2010, when the divorce can be finalized, a separation will have to do. But, like in real life, during the separation, make your ex suffer.

From what I understand, a great deal of this so-called “Stimulus Bill” — which is certainly not that, but, anyway — is that it intends to send a great deal of money (taxpayers today, tomorrow and for another century to come) to local governments (state, county, city) which also represents a lot of why Obama is so keen on ramming this thing out “now” (without any review, immediately, in other words, like some “emergency” that he and the Democrats won’t explain).
AND, the simple fact is, this is just pasting bandaids over budget crises created by hyper-spending. In other words, budgets have gone haywire (so we’re told) because they overspent. Now they’re anticipating taxpayers bailouts (what Obama’s attempting) without correcting their excess expenditures, AND THAT’S what Obama calls (wrongly) “creating jobs”.
So the obvious question is, what’s going to happen after they run through all these billions in the next quarter, year, etc.?
What’ll happen is they’ll then be demanding more and they won’t have changed anything about why they’ve been and continue to overspend.
Obama’s sloppy, wasteful, STUPID “cocktail party” last night in the White House, serving Kobi beef of all things, is more evidence of the ridiculousness of what exists in his mind and character: USE OTHER PEOPLE without accountability.
He’s not leading, he’s escapading. So are all these Party-Mad Democrats who are propping up such a fiasco of system and pilfering. For every “job” they “create” they’ll charge us and several more generations outrageous expenses, so to speak. It’s madness.
JUST LOWER ALL TAXPAYER’S TAXES. Start with that, then see how the economy responds (well, I project). THEN figure out what “infrastructure” could use some federal improvements, and target THAT.
