Gee SenRepubs...I'd like to support you fools, but you're so cowed in the presence of the Obama you won't make a stand.

Pull your heads from your asses, perhaps you might get some stronger support.

I received this from a friend last night. If you want to see the clip, you should do so quickly. I don't think it will be up for long.

"THE FORBIDDEN Saturday Night Live SKIT

SNL did a "Bailout" skit, which has created some rather awkward problems for NBC. They spiked the video and tried to shut it down on the Internet. But aha, there's still some sites that have it.

http://msunderestimated.com/SNLBailoutSkit.wmv

Very startling to see Saturday Night Live absolutely nail the history and culprits of the Big Bailout. No wonder the powers at NBC pulled the skit. Through impersonations they present stark truth, perhaps one of the most surprising presentations almost allowed on NBC."

Thanks to my girl, Sandy.

In conservative Nevada, they know where money should get spent — in casinos, where the wealth really gets spread around, and not by government bureaucracies.

Population-wise, Nevada is dominated by Las Vegas. People don't spend money on gambling and shows and vacations unless they have EXTRA money beyond what they need to live. Over here in Connecticut, suddenly our two Native American tribes, owners of casinos in eastern Connecticut, are singing the blues because casino "revenues" are down 15%, but unlike Nevada, Connecticut does have other industries.
You've got to have jobs ELSEWHERE in the national economy before people are willing to spend money on gambling.

All that glitz and glitter in Las Vegas needs ELECTRICITY to keep it glowing--where does it come from? Not California, which consumes more than it produces because of environmental restrictions on power plants, not no-nukes Nevada where Dingy Harry won't open Yucca Mountain.

IMHO, a Republican candidate can beat Reid by stressing the need for energy and electricity to run Las Vegas, in favor of offshore drilling and nuclear power plants, as well as diversifying Nevada's economy away from reliance on tourism and gambling. When America sneezes, Las Vegas gets pneumonia, and whoever wins Vegas wins Nevada. Exit question: Which Republican candidate can win Vegas?

I could never understand how Reid could be that successful a politician, the man has no personality.

I think the stimulus package is more about politics than the economy right now...but I don't think the crisis is made up. It is real. The media is hyping it like they do everything else, but there are real problems out there.

I don't think going after Reid on the initial bailout is effective, people did not want to see banks collapse and with leaders all over the world reacting in much the same way I think that was not really partisan.

However, this current stimulus bill is. It is one thing to put liquidity into financial markets, it is another to spend a trillion dollars on projects that may not even help. It is just too much debt.

But didn't Obama promise to go through every spending package "line by line" and take out all the unnecessary and wasteful programs?
I mean, come on, he promised. So we are safe in Dear Leader's Hands.
Right?

(yes, I'm being sarcastic)

Congress is attempting to help save our economy.

In this time of crisis, Americans will be glad to see campaign commercials.

Good work.

e-pirate on January 28, 2009 at 8:17 AM

How do Dems justify condoms as a means of cutting costs? The people to who they're supposedly directed won't use them anyway.

Beyond that, how can $4.2 billion to ACORN for "neighborhood stabilization activities" (whatever the hell that is) be rationalized?

Every item of this package needs to identified and explained before one vote is cast and one dollar spent. The stakes are too high to allow it to be a vehicle for paying back Obama's vast array of constituents.

Good point Rovin... Reality is, my family members all came to see our new location here in Montana a few years back; haven't heard much from any of them since. Unfortunately, most of them are long time union (construction) workers in No. Cal... Your back yard if I remember correctly. These folks vote Democrat simply because they were brainwashed at every union meeting for their entire careers. Closed minded robots; but hey, they are the only family members I have. When we gather, we agree not to discuss politics, and I always stick to my promise and they never do.

Typical Democrat; all emotion with no substance!

I don't think a pork laden swill of a bill will save anything. I hope the GOP votes no and dems abandon the mess in shame.

Funny, as if the pols won't make sure they are adequately protected and financially secure while the rest us of squabble in the streets.
