Video: White House pretty sure re-sodding the Mall will create jobs or something

Via Breitbart. And to think, I once imagined The One’s jobs plan would involve little more than makework duties like cleaning parks.
Actually, the Mall funding’s just a tiny part of the stimulus — $200 million out of what’s now approaching $900 billion — but, just like they did with the contraception stuff, the GOP’s seized on it as a particularly media-friendly illustration of how much pork’s in the bill. The Blue Dogs are nervous about it too, with Jim Cooper singling it out (along with $50 million for the NEA) as a particularly egregious example of non-stimulation. And just as I’m writing that, Politico reports that the provision’s expected to be dropped tomorrow. Exit question: Anything else in the bill we can showcase as especially porky and ill-conceived? Didn’t I read something about a monorail…?

And after the mall is re-sod, all the illegals who did the work will suddenly be unemployed. You wanna bet they are qualified for unemployment benefits through an Obama executive order?
The demo-RATF**KS are just too arrogant for words.

Since AP brought up the “Marge vs. the Monorail Episode”, I propose: “A giant billboard“

He doesn’t have one I watched…my bad. Still hate him though.
Gotta love Major Garret…now he’s a hard hitting journalist after sucking the Obama campaign off for the last year.

so…..what happens after the sodding project is over in say, about a week?
ctmom on January 28, 2009 at 9:05 AM
Democrats are just looking for cover trying to sucker in the GOP to support this wasteful sham.
The GOP better grow a pair and say NO, loud and clear.

We need to fight this absurd pork line item, tooth and nail.
I understand that the mall in DC is the most visited national park in the US. If that’s the case, then we need to make sure it’s left just the way it is, so that the world can see what ignorant slobs Obama’s supporters are.
How come we’re not seeing videos of the aftermath and all the damage in the MSM?
Nevermind…. I know the answer to that……

The CEO of Duke Energy was on CNBC this morning and apparently there is something in the bill that changes how electricity is charged to the consumer..
it will be a flat rate and NOT off usage anymore, he was pretty happy about it, the commentator said wont that raise prices on consumers? he said yes initially but eventually it will pay off as it allows us to upgrade our equipment, well golly great for him but I thought Obama was giving them all this money for the grid and now I find the middle class will be stuck paying for it???
so, here in AZ I will pay the same as someone who leaves their central a/c on all day? WTF is that?? how does that encourage conservation?? and will the ‘poor’ have Uncle Sam pay THEIR bill or will I pay it??
get that out of that bill please!!!
everyone call your COngressCritters!!! it worked on immigration , it can help us now I hope!

you failed to mention immediate right to vote democratic as well as free health care as provided by the pork pkg of 09.
UNREPENTANT CONSERVATIVE CAPITOLIST on January 28, 2009 at 11:54 AM
The only thing being stimulated is the left’s greed. Like an alcoholic who is told that drinking is good for the health, the Democrats feel gloriously liberated to throw off their restraints and go on a binge.
NNtrancer on January 28, 2009 at 12:29 PM
The mall does need a lot of work and I don’t mind that it’s being paid for. But to hide it in the so-called stimulus package along with the other tons of pork is just dishonest.

Nope, this guy has raised “SUCK” to an art form.

2. Wind turbine subsidies

200m to make the mall look good? government spending has NEVER created a job. anyone with any sense would know that 200 million dollers as a tax cut for small employers would create jobs.

Go ahead. Fix the Mall turf.
I’ll be there to trample it to mud at the next March for Life on Jan. 2010. You can count on it.
Oh, and AP:
Thanks for the link to the Wiki on the Monorail episode of the Simpsons. That was a very funny episode.
