Palin launches new PAC? Update: Legit
posted at 12:35 pm on January 27, 2009 by Allahpundit
I think it’s legit, but hold off on donating just yet. The only reporter to have any firsthand knowledge of its provenance appears to be Post gossip columnist Cindy Adams:
She’s also launching her national political action committee. Registered in Virginia, patterned after Hillary’s HillPac, Sarahpac.com is to support ideas and candidates who share the Palin vision that energy independence is this country’s future.
Next month she addresses a Washington gathering of prominent conservatives. She’s going ahead with a book. Her Facebook page has 410,000 friends. She wants to influence policy knowing the nation must turn to Alaska as its energy resource. She’s planning to be president.
Greta picked it up from there, as did James Pethokoukis at U.S. News, as did wowOwow. But when the Anchorage Daily News dialed the number, all they got was this:
So far, though, the PAC doesn’t appear to be registered with the Federal Election Commission. When I called the number listed on sarahpac.com, I got a message that referred me back to the information on the website. The answering machine message doesn’t say anything about questions from the general public, but it asks reporters with questions about the PAC to leave their name and number.
They were probably planning to roll it out later this week and Adams got a tip that the site was already live, but as I say, hang on to your money until someone confirms it. If it is for real, expect some of the money to go to green causes to help recast the ‘Cuda as a centrist. And the media to pay very close attention to how much money her PAC’s raising compared to Huck’s and Mitt’s.
Adams also claims Palin will be at the Alfalfa Club dinner with Obama that’s coming up; take a gander at the membership roll. Exit question: Will she be “nominated”?
Update: The boss just got off the phone with a spokesman for Campaign Solutions, the site’s registrar, who told her it’s for real and that the PAC papers were filed with the FEC yesterday.

Or closing Gitmo without knowing what to do with the terrorists there?
You certainly know something about denial.
Esthier on January 27, 2009 at 9:46 PM
I’m not, I am just trying to wake up any of the rational thinkers left. Because Palin supporters are still delusional about the experience argument. To them being Pro-life = POTUS material! Nothing was more embarrassing to see you guys frustrated as to why no one took Palin’s “experience” seriously and you still don’t. ROFLMAO!

“Poptech on January 27, 2009 at 9:49 PM”
does it ever occur to any of your 9 functioning neurons that people weren’t enthralled with duh1′s “experience” either? and that pointing to it even now is a sure way to trivialize your already weak arguments?
Buckaroo on January 27, 2009 at 9:51 PM
He was a community organizer. He used that as proof of his experience no less, cause you know, “Jesus was a community organizer”. Of course the community he helped organize was involved in ACORN and the very crap that brought us this economic collapse.
Oh, but it’s OK. Obama wrote a letter about the upcoming collapse that he suddenly remembered in the middle of a debate. That’s somehow leadership?
Oh, and letting all that corruption go on unnoticed around him? Palin actually quit her job and got someone from her own party fined rather than let corruption continue. She actually did all the things Obama claimed he would do and is now proving he won’t.
Yeah, that’s leadership.
Esthier on January 27, 2009 at 9:52 PM
Palin needs to tell all the fat, lame Religious Right morons to stop trying to make her the new female Pope of Christianity. Let the woman show shes a conservative/libertarian who is better than the Obamessiah and doesn’t want to cram religion down anyones throat.

Like Palin…she has an infant…I’d say it might be a fair bet she’s pro-life…Be nice to curb her pork barrel ways though…she did vote against TARP! And a 100% NRA rating!
jerrytbg on January 27, 2009 at 9:53 PM
Don’t lie. You padded Obama’s resume for a reason. Why? You added a link for Palin’s religion, but you didn’t add a link to Obama’s church. Why? You list Palin’s past positions as “former,” but for Obama, you left out that distinction. Why? Why do you care so much about presenting Obama’s experience in a good light that you’ll polish up his resume like that?
Ronnie on January 27, 2009 at 9:53 PM
research into her record will show that she has never done anything like that.

Who said Obama was qualified? Not me, I just said he was more qualified as Palin.
Poptech on January 27, 2009 at 9:57 PM
Her record didn’t seem to matter last year. The MSM has effectively caricatured her as a Jesus Freak, much like they did with Bush after he was elected. Being against abortion in all cases isn’t helping her either.
Speedwagon82 on January 27, 2009 at 9:58 PM
Poptech is a dyed in the wool Liberal Democrat Mobying as a Libertarian ROTMFingFLHMFingAO all the time who has one objective. That’s to get the fatal head shot on a potential leader of the Republican Party before she makes any more progress.
The only people that defend Obama more vociferously than Poptech are Matthews and Olbermann.

jerrytbg on January 27, 2009 at 9:59 PM
Zero,
You stated the absolute FACTS. What it comes down to is having the leader of the GOP PROUDLY and UNASHAMEDLY be a conservative. Any other refuse spewed out by wannabes and trolls at this point is just background noise to the main point. We absolutely need a leader in this country with a strong dose of common sense and a serious dose of humility. Don’t think that for one minute that when Sarah says that she is serving us that she doesn’t mean it. We all know that the “Messiah” is expecting service FROM us, not the other way around. OK trolls have at me.:)

No I am a conservative libertarian who has never voted for a Democrat – ever. But your conspiracy fantasies exist because you cannot comprehend why anyone would not want Palin for POTUS. This has to do with your Palin worship and removal from reality.

Over Palin? Very obviously you do, or else you wouldn’t spend all night drooling all over our President. And you would have voted for McCain instead of throwing a vote a way, which in turn was giving Obama another vote.

RalphyBoy on January 27, 2009 at 10:11 PM
You must have a lot of links.
Ronnie on January 27, 2009 at 10:12 PM
No Slappy, you make that claim with anyone who doesn’t jump in a thread where you try to maul her and join your Obama lovefest. I said I’d give her time and the benefit of the doubt. You’ll give her neither. You can’t wait and see though because you’re either a troll like I said or you’re as irrational and blinded by your hate for the woman as you claim the rest of us are blindly following her.
My bet is you are indeed a freaking card carrying Dem with a big Lib chip on your shoulder. You get a kick out of coming here and acting superior to any aspect of Conservatism. I’ve never read you espouse a single Conservative idea.
hawkdriver on January 27, 2009 at 10:13 PM
I also find it very hard to believe that you haven’t encountered one person who doubted Obama’s religion. Would you care to clear up this lie? Why one link and not the other?
Ronnie on January 27, 2009 at 10:13 PM
Of course he’s a dem. Why would a “libertarian” prepare Obama’s resume in such grand fashion?
Ronnie on January 27, 2009 at 10:14 PM
Pop = Troll.
See, I even capitalized Troll for you. Cuz you’re so good at it.
hawkdriver on January 27, 2009 at 10:16 PM
LMAO! Neither Obama or Palin are qualified to be POTUS. But Obama is more qualified than Palin. I cannot vote for someone who would destroy the economy. Sorry if my freedom to vote for whoever I damn well please offends you, I will be sure to vote for whoever I damn well please in the future.
Obama does have more experience than Palin, thus the longer Resume. That is Palin’s Resume – very thin. Hey I did “pad” her education though! LMAO!
Poptech on January 27, 2009 at 10:16 PM
#1 this is never a choice in a presidential election. So I would pick the Libertarian candidate.
Poptech on January 27, 2009 at 10:17 PM
So you admit to distorting the “resumes” then
That explains why Palin’s religion appears and Obama’s does not
thanks
lol
joey24007 on January 27, 2009 at 10:17 PM
So if they both were running for President you would have to support Obama
because you go by “resumes”
and you have determined that Obama is “more qualified” than Palin
therefore he gets your vote in a head to head contest
too funny
joey24007 on January 27, 2009 at 10:18 PM
Obama lovefest? LMAO! My bet is you are not very bright. I will return my Dem card as soon as I get one, which will be never. Here is one:
Limited Government! Liberty for all!
Poptech on January 27, 2009 at 10:19 PM
Why? Do you prefer Obama?
It’s probably not necessary to number your thoughts when there’s only one. Anyway, this isn’t a presidential election. Do you prefer Obama or Palin?
Ronnie on January 27, 2009 at 10:20 PM

Neither – it has not changed. I realize this is complicated for you but there are more than two choices for POTUS on ballots.
Poptech on January 27, 2009 at 10:31 PM
It was a long resignation. Obama resigned from many of his positions, but that’s not noted. Probably another one of those non-lies.
Ronnie on January 27, 2009 at 10:31 PM
Every Libertarian that I’ve even had a discussion with on this site, even with great disagreements, will normally concede some aspect of the argument for the sake of Conservative unity. I have too with them. Poptech has never done anything of the kind. He only seeks to divide Conservatives.

Except he still keeps referring to that USA Today article that’s been disproved time and time again.
Poptart: Palin increased spending by 27%.
Not according to actual State Budget Spending Requests from Washington, but Poptart begs to differ.
Poptart has gotten all factual about how Mitt Romney’s kids know how to put on condoms.
But most of all, he loves crowing about Obama’s high school and college transcripts, which have been made readily available /sarc, and tout his years working at Miner Davis Law or as a community organizer, because he’s a LIBERTARIAN.
chunderroad on January 27, 2009 at 10:34 PM

Anybody who has read my musings on this site over the last 3 and 1/2 months knows that I am a strong Sarah Palin supporter. Awhile back I also stated why, but I think it is fitting today that I restate the primary reason I support her.
Let me say first that I am not an evangelical, am pro-life in philosophical terms but am libertarian in the sense that I believe each individual should be entitled to choose which route he or she wants to take in living one’s life and should not be persecuted for his or her decision, believe that government should live within its means and that taxes should be the lowest possible so that citizens will be able to retain more of their hard-earned money, that there are bad or nefarious people in the world led by Islamic terrorists who want the West destroyed and must in turn must be destroyed themselves, that the nutroots who engage in the politics of personal destruction on a 24/7 basis must be exposed for the slime they are, am anti-totalitarian and thus believe strongly in the Constitution and the natural rights of man as bestowed to us by God and thus the right of man and woman to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, which runs counter to the radical Socialist agenda proposed by Obama and his merry men and women.
Let me be clear. I do not oppose Obama because he is black, inexperienced or misguided. Instead I oppose Obama because I believe he is a ruthless totalitarian (Marxist or Fascist), that his past associations expose a potential agenda that indicates a desire to take apart or eliminate the Constitution, to impose a radical socialist or Fascist agenda on America that suppresses free speech and wants to literally destroy the conservative movement and the evangelical movement (remember I am not an evangelical) and that he wants to sanction or overlook an amoral secular humanism that devalues life and fosters a culture of misery and death.
Thus I believe that Obama knows exactly what he doing, is not inexperienced in that sense, and is not misguided or naive. Instead I believe Obama is very dangerous to individual liberty and I believe his desire to foist a permanent Presidency on America by the repeal of the 22nd Amendment has no bounds. Thus Obama must be defeated in 2012 to preserve America as we conservatives inherited and our ancestors and the Founding Fathers envisioned.
Remember what Sarah said in closing her debate. “Freedom can be lost in one generations. It is not preserved in the bloodlines.”
This brings me back to Sarah. Since this is Super Bowl week, let me borrow an answer that Ken Whisenhunt, the Arizona Cardinals head coach, gave a reporter on why he chose Kurt Warner as his starting QB:”He gives us the best chance to win.”
I feel the same way about Sarah. She is a conservative that gives us the best chance in 2012 to take Obama out. Sarah is a full-fledged political superstar; she attracts huge crowds and in only 5 months in national politics she has developed a huge following. In this age of modern communications and the Internet we need a person like Sarah who is charismatic, personable and authentic to expand the circle. As I have stated on many occasions, superstars rarely come along in any endeavor including politics. When you find one and that person is on your side you must do everything in your power to cherish that person, nurture, encourage and support that person and allow that person to develop his or her skills so as to maximize performance and execution to fulfill one’s destiny.
Sarah is too precious to the conservative movement to throw under the bus. Yes, I agree with Ann Coulter. In an ideal world, Sarah should wait till 2016 or 2020 before running for President. But this is not an ideal world. Obama must be taken out in 2012.
In addition as Colin Cowherd of ESPN rightly pointed out Jason Garrett was the hot NFL coordinator and could have had his pick of a heading coaching post this year but decided to stay on in Dallas with the Cowboys having an embarrassing and horrible year that reflected badly on him. At the end of the 2008 season, as I write this his coaching stock is in the tank and it appears that he may never get a shot being a head coach in the foreseeable future.
Sarah needs to strike while the iron is hot. Her time is now-thus the creation of her PAC.
Finally, when trolls and the MSM appear and relentlessly knock or nitpick Sarah just remember the main reason for it: Obama and his merry men and women know that Sarah gives the GOP the best chance to take back the WH and will stop at literally nothing to make sure she doesn’t even get to first base or for the matter up to bat. Remember it just takes one swing of the bat to hit a home run.
technopeasant on January 27, 2009 at 11:16 PM
Wow, well said. I am squarely in your corner and anxious to see how she does too. And if she ends up not being the best pick; so be it. But let’s give anyone who wants to try and lead us a chance.
hawkdriver on January 27, 2009 at 11:21 PM
Hey Poopdeck, how many empty Jack Green Label and Johnnie Walker Red bottles are in ur Bin O’ Recyclin’? If the answer is an integer, you NEED. TO. GET. A. LIFE. Nobody in the world, those nutso Alaskan blogettes included, is obsessively stalking Sarah Palin in such a disturbing fashion as you are.
Even the mewling creature known as Benny Shakar has enough sense to ninja troll instead of writing 2000 word posts that nobody, not even people who actually agree with you, are going to read.
See that big burning gaseous orb in the sky? That’s called the ‘sun.’ Some people suggest it’s worthwhile to view it from time to time. Why don’t you give it a try?
