Maybe it’s all that talk about “stimulus”

posted at 8:57 am on January 26, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Drudge has a red light up on Nancy Pelosi’s interview with George Stephanopolous yesterday in which the House Speaker defines “stimulus” in a new and interesting way.  Pelosi has included hundreds of millions of dollars in the economic stimulus package for contraception, apparently concerned that the screwing the federal government plans to give taxpayers may give some of us the, er, wrong idea.  But cui bono – who benefits?

STEPHANOPOULOS: Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus?

PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children’s health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those – one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.

STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that?

PELOSI: No apologies. No. we have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy. Food stamps, unemployment insurance, some of the initiatives you just mentioned. what the economists have told us from right to left. There is more bang for the buck, a term they use, by investing in food stamps and in unemployment insurance than in any tax cut.

Well, I hate to be the one to explain this to Grandma Pelosi, but contraception doesn’t actually work as a short-term cost control method.  Maybe she forgot this from her high-school health classes, but a lack of contraception in March won’t actually produce extra mouths to feed until December.  Education costs, which Pelosi explicitly mentions in support of this initiative, wouldn’t appear until 2013 at the earliest.  And actually, this would provide an economic stimulus to the education industry, one of the few legitimate areas of government spending at some level to create jobs (although not the federal level).

This line item exposes what we all know about this stimulus package: it’s a pork fest.  Consider where these contraception dollars will go.  It won’t be to Walgreens.  Eventually, this money will go to Planned Parenthood, in order to shore up their operations.  They just laid off 20% of their workforce, and the Democrats need PP to campaign for them in national elections.  Pelosi wants to increase the government subsidy for electoral purposes, and will exploit the “stimulus” package to do so.

Mike Pence has introduced a bill to block all funding to Planned Parenthood.  Contact your Representative and tell him or her to support HR 614 and to end the pork subsidies that have a lot more to do with electoral politics than cost-cutting through contraception.

Hmmm…I rspectfully disagree with you on this one Ed, had more money been available for contraceptives when Grandma Pelosi’s parents were doing the nasty Pelosi quite possibly would not have been born and that would have saved all of us Americans some pork money, and just as important we wouldn’t have to see that…that face!

This woman is a complete idiot and the only reason she’s even in Congress is because her billionaire husband wanted her out of the house.

She brings NOTHING to the table. She’s never held a real job. She has absolutely no idea what to do, other than shovel money at Democrat Party donors and supporters.

We cannot dig out of this hole with dingbats like Nancy Pelosi in charge. She has nothing to offer the country.

WORST HOUSE MAJORITY LEADER EVER

Pinocchio would be so proud of that front picture of Madam Speaker. Great times we live in.

We are having money trouble, losing jobs like crazy. Now we have to wait to 2013? What the frig? Don’t you just love how they stretch out the help? All the money they are giving colleges? They don’t need the money. Nancy is a Retard. Sorry had to use that word. She is the devil herself, as most of them are. This is a catastrophe waiting in around the corner. Birth control? Ignorance at it’s best. I will be making calls today before I go to work. I love to bug them.

Just one week in to the new administration and Pelosi and company are already overplaying their hand. I hope they’ve added some more Congressional Phone lines. Otherwise the system is going to blow up.

Pelosi’s next plan: a one-child policy? Sounds crazy, but it could work!

Ed, do I have permission to use that picture of Madame Speaker as my screensaver?

This is so stunning I find myself speechless.

Abortion reduces government spending. So that’s President Obortions strategy, eh?

Contraception would only work if you had a time machine and went back and prevented the birth of Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank and Chris Dodd!

A couple of months ago, I posted a crazy letter I got from a group called something like Organization for Population Reduction. Basically said that the country is way too overpopulated, man is the evil being on the planet, we must give the world back to animals, etc. Guess Nancy must be a member. This kind of craziness will gain momentum from the godless left. It fits in so well with gay marriage, abortion, embryonic stem cell research, man-made global warming hoaxers, etc. It’s obvious none of these espousers have ever driven across the country, but stay entrenched in DC, NYC, SF, LA. May our God, who incidentally, told man to “be fruitful and multiply” and who gave man dominion over all the earth, deliver us from such anti-God, anti-man “humanists.”

WARNING: Not only is the stimulus plan pure pork, it is a new way of creating partisan legislation without the hassle of debate.

Hypocrisy and bias:
Several months ago, state representative offered up a similar bill (he later said it was to make a point and get ppl talking about the subject). His bill offered poor people (those defined as on welfare) a check from the government for getting themselves “fixed” after having a child, in order to pay for getting ‘fixed’.

The left down here, lost their freaking mind!!!! He was the most RACIST person to walk the earth since Hitler, it was a RACIST bill, his constituents were RACIST, etc, etc…

Sort of amazing how when you bring up such a subject and a (D) is after your name, its for the good of everyone….

I am tired of being kicked around by these clowns in Washington. Both parties.
I have written my legislators, called them, etc. for YEARS!

The only glimmer of hope I have found is in the Continental Congress 2009. (Don’t worry. I know all about the dangers of a constitutional convention. This is Very different than that.) The movement to hold government accountable to the bounds of the US Constitution is gaining momentum. Thank God.

Go to GiveMeLiberty.org to join with others who uphold our constitution.

Yup! Kill a few more babies and the GDP should shoot right up there Nancy! Good grief we are being governed by abject morons. Idiots with IQ’s that don’t break 50! Me thinks it time for a revolution. When the governed are not being served by those that govern…there has to be some sort of grievance apart from the ballot, because that too is stacked and corrupted by idiot pols…
