Jimmy Carter: Hamas can be trusted

posted at 6:15 pm on January 26, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via LGF, which catches Jimbo nimbly sidestepping whether Hamas is in fact a terrorist group. No surprise there: He ducked a related question once upon a time on Al Jazeera. Say this for him, though — he’s never bitten his lip out of party loyalty. He made candidate Obama squirm by hugging it out with Hamas apparatchiks and now he’s making President Obama squirm by dropping this soundbite when The One’s busy trying to build buzz for George Mitchell. But then, he’s an “Elder.” He answers to no one but God.

Carter has less than zero credibility on Middle East affairs. Why does anyone even bother soliciting his opinion?

Lefties & other anti-Semites find him useful to give them credibility.

jgapinoy on January 26, 2009 at 8:45 PM

He answers to no one but God.

And answer to God he will.
BTW, what kind of crap did he teach in that Sunday School class? Does he still teach?

jgapinoy on January 26, 2009 at 8:49 PM

Worst. President. Ever.

Attila (Pillage Idiot) on January 26, 2009 at 8:53 PM

Being from Georgia and old enough to remember him as governor I would also add worst governor ever. About two years ago, the University of Georgia (where I earned my Masters) organized a Jimmy Carter tribute. At this event Carter went on and on about how if he would have been elected president in 1980 the U.S. would be such a better place today and that the middle east would be at peace. Because of this event I will never again contribute to the alumni fund at UGA.

My collie says:

Let’s just say that I trust them more than I trust Jimmy Carter.

That’s total BS. The shooting video is from Afghanistan.

Why do you have to ruin perfectly good arguments with false and stupid propaganda? Retardation.

Hey, Jacka$$. You provided no proof for your statement. One must assume that this is your own very special stroke material. Go eff yourself, dirtbag.

Blake on January 26, 2009 at 9:10 PM

I wouldnt trust
Liberals, obama, pelozi or carter..

At least osama bin laden is telling you the truth
“We want to kill all the infidels and jews”

Where liberals will kiss you on one cheek and hand off a detanator to a terroist in the same ROOM..

Carter still believes its george bush fault that north korea took his offer for Fuel oil
then used it to power their slave labor camps
all the while still building the nuclear reactor
they promised to the fool carter they stopped

and when asked by carter “how could you do this too me?”
they were rolling on the ground laughing hysterically
Because your such an easy old fool.

Carter should be thrown in Jail for treason..

jcila on January 26, 2009 at 9:11 PM

Hamas absolutely CAN be trusted – to engage in terrorism and slaughter the innocent men, women and children of Israel.

To expect anything else of such a monstrous group of evil nutbags is just downright stupid.

SimplyKimberly on January 26, 2009 at 9:45 PM

I am embarrassed for the entire state of Georgia that this man originated from it, and that he continues to show his face in public after what he did to our country.

I am old enough to remember how sorry a presidency was the era of Jimmy Carter. I remember the national feeling of powerlessness and self-loathing we felt as we saw news reports every day showing the chants against America by the radicals that Carter himself put into power by failing to support the Shah of Iran when the Shah needed our nation’s help. And the days of captivity continued to mount for our fellow countrymen held hostage.

I also remember how that era of impotence ended when Ronald Reagan took the oath of office. The Khomeni followers knew what Reagan would do to them if they held the hostages for just one more day. It is no coincidence the hostages were freed immediately upon Reagan’s ascension into the presidency.

Jimmy Carter, PLEASE just go fade away somewhere. You always were and forever shall be a FAILURE. That is the only subject upon which you have any authority to speak.

OneVision on January 26, 2009 at 9:48 PM

Soon after becoming President in 1977, Jimmy Carter launched a deliberate campaign to undermine the Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlevi, a good friend and ally of the United States. The Shah of Iran fell from power as a direct result of Jimmy Carter’s withdrawal of support and Iran fell into the hands of the tyrannical and anti-American Ayatollah Khomeini. This was the key event in history that led to the terrorist supporting state of Iran today that now threatens to develop nuclear weapons to destroy both the United States and Israel.

Maxx on January 26, 2009 at 10:07 PM

Carter is an idiot. Always has been and apparently always will be.

beachgirlusa on January 26, 2009 at 10:30 PM

Jimmy’s senile.

mindhacker on January 26, 2009 at 10:37 PM

Carter’s right that Hamas will do what’s in its self interest. What he keeps ignoring, however, is that its interests are best served when Iran is pleased, because Iran is a major funder of Hamas. And Iran does not want a lasting peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis, and so Hamas can’t be trusted to seek anything but destruction in Israel.

NorthernCross on January 26, 2009 at 10:41 PM

It may have been P. J. O’Rourke who said that Jimmy Carter was proof that any American boy could grow up to president. And some of them shouldn’t.

This man is an idiot, a shill for terrorists, and embarrassment to our nation.

Mr. Carter, you are not relevant. Please shut up and go the Hell away.

oldleprechaun on January 26, 2009 at 10:49 PM

Jimmy Carter is an ass.

Tzetzes on January 26, 2009 at 11:04 PM

This is Carter’s idea of trust:

There’s A Sucker Born Every Minute…

but a sucker like Jimmy Carter comes along only once or twice in a century.
There was lots not to like in Carter’s interview with Wolf Blitzer today, but let’s just focus on his version of events in the Middle East:

BLITZER: Let’s talk about foreign policy, a very sensitive issue: Your recent trip to the Middle East, your decision to meet with Hamas, a group the U.S. government brands a terrorist organization.

BLITZER: He was specifically asked about your decision to talk to them. Do you want to respond to what you just heard?

CARTER: Well, he’s completely mistaken. It’s obvious that he doesn’t know the policy of Hamas.
And I think that, since I met with them, I can very well say that — and I’ve talked to Hamas a number of times…

That’s right, all because they announce every other day their desire to destroy Israel and launch over 3000 rockets into Israel this year, does not mean they want to annihilate
True genius this Jimmy Carter.

BLITZER: Well, he says they’re committed to the destruction of Israel.

CARTER: Well, I asked them about this. And that was one of the major requests or suggestions that I made to Hamas — I made five or six of them.

One of the things I asked them to do was to agree to accept any peace contract between Israel and the Palestinians with Mahmoud Abbas being the representative of the Palestinians, provided it was approved by the Palestinians in a referendum, even if Hamas agreed with it…

BLITZER: Did they say they would accept…

CARTER: Absolutely.

BLITZER: … Israel living alongside Palestine…

CARTER: Absolutely, they said they would accept that.

BLITZER: … a Jewish state of Israel?

CARTER: That’s correct. Absolutely…

As we noted here, Carter had no sooner announced that Hamas’s leaders had indicated their willingness to recognize Israel, than those same leaders told al Jazeera that Carter was wrong

As so often happens, Carter was just making it up. Blitzer wasn’t equipped to challenge him, but in fact, the Hamas official who contradicted Carter was none other than Khaled Meshal, who is generally acknowledged to be Hamas’s top leader, and was the individual with whom Carter met in Damascus:

[A]t a later press conference in Damascus, Mr. Mashaal backed away from the concession announced by Mr. Carter.

“We accept a state on the [1967] line with Jerusalem as capital, real sovereignty and full right of return for refugees, but without recognizing Israel,” Al Jazeera quoted him as saying.

This is what liberals consider “smart power”.
This is success in their minds.
All they care about is getting someone to say the words that they need to hear to vindicate their position in front of a camera.
Facts on the ground and reality mean nothing.

This is the Hamas charter that they follow.
The Obama’s and Carters are nothing but propaganda tools for people who actually put in writing and say day after day that they want nothing more than the total destruction of Israel.

the Covenant of Hamas. From the Preamble:

Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.
Article 13:

[Peace] initiatives, and so-called peaceful solutions and international conferences are in contradiction to the principles of the Islamic Resistance Movement… Those conferences are no more than a means to appoint the infidels as arbitrators in the lands of Islam… There is no solution for the Palestinian problem except by Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are but a waste of time, an exercise in futility.

Article 7, which I believe comes directly from the Koran:
The Day of Judgment will not come about until Moslems fight Jews and kill them. Then, the Jews will hide behind rocks and trees, and the rocks and trees will cry out: ‘O Moslem, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him.’

Carter, you are a LIAR. A liar, and an ANTI-SEMITE. For all your cries of ‘comprehensive peace in the Middle East’, if it was so possible, why didn’t you bring it about, Mr. Ambassador? Because it isn’t possible to have peace with bloodthirsty Arabs that want nothing more than to continue Adolph Hitler’s evil works, and exterminate the Jews from the Earth.

And you’d be right there to cheer them on and condemn any Jew that so much as raises a hand to fend off a blow.

Jimmy Carter isn’t senile…he’s just an idiot! He was when he was POTUS and he remains one today! That’s why Ronald Magnus kicked his sorry ass out of office and humiliated him so badly that Carter has never recovered from it! BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Are we fortunate or what? His title is Former President Jimmy Carter. Lucky for us I’d say. Left field must be lonesome tonight. This is the guy Elvis must of sung that song about. Maybe Clint Eastwood was talking about Carter when he said “Are you lonsome tonight punk? Huh, Well are ya!?” Or Clark gable in Gone with the Wind ” Frankly Carter, I don’t give a damn!”

kanda on January 27, 2009 at 9:24 AM

Former President Carter has been around asbestos too long, or someone smacked him, or he has bumped his head with a 2×4 once too often.

Why do we continue to hear from him? Because, his followers are still alive and insanal as ever.

MSGTAS on January 27, 2009 at 9:39 AM

Hey Jimmah

Hamas is the elected leadership of Gaza. The Elected leadership has participated in launching 6000 rockets into Israel. Under international law Israel has the right to defend itself against attack. The people of Gaza by electing Hamas are responsible for the war. They are responsible for their own hardships also. I still remember the Palis celebrating the death of 3000 Americans on 9/11.

Jimmah you are a Useful Idiot. When Idiots are no longer useful, they are still idiots.

What scares the hell out of me every time Jimmy Peanut Carter opens his mouth is that he had actually accomplished something at one time… ie being the skipper of a nuke sub, especially under Rickover… Maybe the Rads fried his brain.

Anyway, Compare and contrast that with Obama who never accomplished anything of substance. Just for giggle’s picture obama in charge of a nuke sub’s ‘tea kettle’.. can you say “Glow in the dark forever”??

Just how much of an idiot will obama turn out to be IF he ever leaves office??

Scary, mommy, scary…

Well, if you’re insert your favorite Middle Eastern terrorist network here, you realize that Jimmah has zero credibility. But he says good things about you, so you’re happy that the Other Guys have to spend at least 10 seconds defusing Jimmah.

And because no one is going to just say ah, he’s nuts, forget about him it will take a bit longer than 10 seconds…
