Ok...fine...I hope Obama (policy) fails. Is that better? Which I think was Rush's whole point. Obama does not hope conservative values succeed. Why should I (we) hope for his liberalism/socialism to succeed?

If Obama fails to do what he's trying, America succeeds. Obama's success will be a failure for America that will take generations to undo, even if we survive as one nation and don't split over it.

The stimulus package buys a permanent majority for the dems if they can continue to get their people and the ones ACORN helps vote multiple times out to the polls. Then us conservatives are going to be painted as evil for wanting to "cut healthcare to poor, helpless little children," "want to let people make whatever they want, even rich people," etc.

I hope Obama succeeds in pulling us out of this, but he WON'T DO IT WITH WHAT HE WANTS TO DO, which is what Rush was referring to. Rush knows Obama's success would be the end of American culture as we know it.

There are already loud whispers about wage control. It won't be long before we start seeing limits on pay, which is ironic because those people are who the dems will need to pay the taxes to fuel this huge increase in government. But then, they were stupid enough to propose increasing SCHIP funding to families of 4 making $60,000 a year on the backs of smokers, while they try to end smoking.

This country will NEVER fail, however Obama needs to fail and most likely will. This country is NOT about Obama or Clinton or Carter, or Bush. Carter failed, and our country became stronger afteward. Same thing will happen after Obama fails.

Having read President Obama's books and listened to his speeches, I, too, hope that he fails to achieve what will result in a more socialist America. That does not mean that I hope the country fails. I hope the country is very successful. I believe, however, that In order for the country to succeed Obama will have to abandon the academic socialism to which he has dedicated his life.

Knowing his failure is the country’s failure?

I think that assumption is wrong. Obama's failure might mean the countries survival. Nevertheless, Rush shouldn't have put it that way.

That's hilarious, Bradky. You're accusing the Republicans of celebrity worship? That is what got Barry elected President. It sure wasn't his political acumen or gravitas.
Rush is an American success story and the author of a radio programming genre that swept the nation. Mr. President is a Chicago politician whose election was facilitated by a puppet master, possibly George Soros. I'll give you this: he reads a teleprompter really well. I'm with Rush. I support the office of the President. But his Socialist policies are bad for this nation and they must fail.

Pretty weak BD. I’m outnumber for sure, but “outsmarted” and “outflanked” because I hold a contrary opinion regarding Rush Limbaugh? You sound like one of the many Obama worshipers over at Kos.

dakine on January 26, 2009 at 12:26 AM

Kini, Prager I’ll give you. Hannity and Malkin, not so much. One is a dim bulb and the other is a shrill demagogue.

dakine on January 26, 2009 at 12:28 AM

Riiiight. You describe Rush as a "buffoon", provide not a single argument to support your assertion, call our host at Hot Air a "shrill demagogue" and conclude that I am like a KOS kid?

Oh, and for the record, I do not "worship" Rush. Like tens of millions of conservatives, I admire and respect him greatly for his brilliant analysis, awesome grasp of history, profound insight, wise counsel, adherence to a Reaganesque philosophy of government, and so forth.

Pretty hard to argue with Rush's response; that is unless you're a complete moonbat!

There are two things going on here. One prong of the Great Unifier's plan is to isolate elected Republicans from their voters and supporters by making the argument about me and not about his plan. He is hoping that these Republicans will also publicly denounce me and thus marginalize me. And who knows? Are ideological and philosophical ties enough to keep the GOP loyal to their voters? Meanwhile, the effort to foist all blame for this mess on the private sector continues unabated when most of the blame for this current debacle can be laid at the feet of the Congress and a couple of former presidents. And there is a strategic reason for this.

Secondly, here is a combo quote from the meeting: "If we don't get this done we (the Democrats) could lose seats and I could lose re-election. But we can't let people like Rush Limbaugh stall this. That's how things don't get done in this town."

To make the argument about me instead of his plan makes sense from his perspective. Obama's plan would buy votes for the Democrat Party, in the same way FDR's New Deal established majority power for 50 years of Democrat rule, and it would also simultaneously seriously damage any hope of future tax cuts. It would allow a majority of American voters to guarantee no taxes for themselves going forward. It would burden the private sector and put the public sector in permanent and firm control of the economy. Put simply, I believe his stimulus is aimed at re-establishing "eternal" power for the Democrat Party rather than stimulating the economy because anyone with a brain knows this is NOT how you stimulate the economy. If I can be made to serve as a distraction, then there is that much less time debating the merits of this TRILLION dollar debacle.

Obama was angry that Merrill Lynch used $1.2 million of TARP money to remodel an executive suite. Excuse me, but didn't Merrill have to hire a decorator and contractor? Didn't they have to buy the new furnishings? What's the difference in that and Merrill loaning that money to a decorator, contractor and goods supplier to remodel Warren Buffet's office? Either way, stimulus in the private sector occurs. Are we really at the point where the bad PR of Merrill getting a redecorated office in the process is reason to smear them? How much money will the Obamas spend redecorating the White House residence? Whose money will be spent? I have no problem with the Obamas redoing the place. It is tradition. 600 private jets flown by rich Democrats flew into the Inauguration. That's fine but the auto execs using theirs is a crime? In both instances, the people on those jets arrived in Washington wanting something from Washington, not just good will.

If I can be made to serve as a distraction, then there is that much less time debating the merits of the trillion dollar debacle.

One more thing, Byron. Your publication and website have documented Obama's ties to the teachings of Saul Alinksy while he was community organizing in Chicago. Here is Rule 13 of Alinksy's Rules for Radicals: "Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it."

Pretty hard to argue with Rush’s response; that is unless you’re a complete moonbat!

There are two things going on here. One prong of the Great Unifier’s plan is to isolate elected Republicans from their voters and supporters by making the argument about me and not about his plan.

Knowing his failure is the country’s failure?

That is the failure in your thinking. If Obama fails, the Country will Survive to prosper again. His failure is America's close call with Marxism. Why is that so hard to understand?

I hope our country succeeds. I don't really care about Obama. I do worry that we're going to switch from a "war on terror" to a "speed-trap on terror". And we keep giving money to banks that are "too big to fail"- maybe they're just too big! If he wants to do some big-government stuff, break up the big banks.

OK, a question for AP: If you hope so much that he succeed, what will success look like?

I think I know and I think Rush knows as well. I pass.

OBTW: Alinsky's RULE 5: "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon." There is no defense. It's irrational. It's infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions. (Pretty crude, rude and mean, huh? They want to create anger and fear.)

Your taking Rush's "I hope he fails." comment out of context is a perfect example of how to play by Alinsky's rules. Way to go! Obama would be proud.
