Video: Jenna’s and Barbara’s advice to Sasha and Malia

Not the first act of kindness they’ve shown to the Obama girls, and much in keeping with the Bush family’s exceptionally gracious transition. The clip’s worth watching, but if you can’t spare the time, at least read their letter. Malia, the oldest, is only 10, which explains the conspicuous omission of “If you support your dad on Afghanistan, try not to let it get you down when the left calls you a chickenhawk for not signing up.”

The media should stay away from the girls. The First Lady may be one thing when she’s politicking, but leave the 10 and 7 year-olds alone.

What a classy family, from H.W. and Babs on down.

The whole Bush family has been nothing but helpful and gracious to the Obamas, and Barry pays them back with snide remarks in his inaugural address.

Barry = no class trash.

The media wasted no time after the one Bush twins drinking “scandal” to make it an indictment of him.

But don’t worry. The only thing that might get the Obama children in trouble with the MSM is declaring that they were Conservatives.

The ewuuing and awwing is so disingenuous.

Kini on January 23, 2009 at 7:06 PM

Even though it’s been years since the Bush girls were featured in the tabloids for partying, rest assured that some bastard (probably one of the hags from ‘The View’……and probably Joy Behar) will dredge up their past behavior.

Rather than focus on this act of decency and kindness, some assh0le will say: “I’m surprised the Bush girls were able to say anything, considering how hung-over they must be…”

Maybe some advice from Jane and Michael Banks from “Mary Poppins” can help. (With apologies to Walt Disney!)

Jane Banks:
[Spoken]
Wanted a nanny for two adorable children

[Sung]
If you want this choice position
Have a cheery disposition
Rosy cheeks, no warts!
Play games, all sort

You must be kind, you must be witty
Very sweet and fairly pretty
Take us on outings, give us treats
Sing songs, bring sweets

Never be cross or cruel
Never give us castor oil or gruel
Love us as a son and daughter
And never smell of barley water

If you won’t scold and dominate us
We will never give you cause to hate us
We won’t hide your spectacles
So you can’t see
Put toads in your bed
Or pepper in your tea
Hurry, Nanny!
Many thanks
Sincerely,

Jane and Michael Banks:
Jane and Michael Banks.

That was a lovely letter. It was so sensitive and kind and welcoming.

INC on January 23, 2009 at 7:14 PM

It just struck me…when was the last time there was a boy in the White House?

Obama has two girls.
GWBush two girls.
Clinton had Chelsea
GHWBush – sons were all adults by 1988
Reagon – kids were all adults by 1980
Carter – Amy

I don’t know about Ford or Nixon or Johnson, but would guess their kids were all adults.

Was the last boy in the White House JFK Jr?

DaveO on January 23, 2009 at 7:14 PM

A wonderful gracious and kind message from the Bush daughters. Class.

Of course the NBC libtards were struck dumb. The evil booosh is honored and loved by wonderful daughters such as these ?

Yeah, as a mom of a daughter who used to love playing dress up as a princess I thought that picture was charming.

INC on January 23, 2009 at 7:19 PM

DaveO, I think you’re right. Even with Ford–one of my HS classmates moved here from DC, and she had gone to school with Susan Ford. We were in HS during the Ford admin. So Susan Ford was still a juvenile, but her brothers were older.

juliesa on January 23, 2009 at 7:19 PM

The MSM and their terrible treatment of Bush is the reason the Bush girls felt obliged to write to the Obama kids. The MSM with their false tears make me want to hurl. The Bush family has more class than Obama ever will. Barry and his cheap shots to Bush made me sick after Bush was so kind to him during the transition. Let’s see what the Obama team does when their turn comes to leave the White House. I cringe to think.

Wethal on January 23, 2009 at 6:57 PM

is right. How nasty for Barry to be snide at Bush in his speech and on the website.

As for the MSM, they hounded the Bush twins in their college years and positively went for blood after Sarah Palin’s family.

INC on January 23, 2009 at 7:23 PM

The msm has pretty much left the girls alone, but the lefties still look on them as the anti-christ. I like to point out to them Chelsea’s work as a hedge fund manager. Compare with Jenna and Barbara’s many months of volunteer work overseas, and their current jobs: Barbara works for the new Global Health Corps, and Jenna is a teacher in the DC public school system.

If they were Democrats, there would swooning documentaries on the work they’ve done. Instead, there’s almost a press blackout on them.

juliesa on January 23, 2009 at 7:24 PM

That was really nice.

I’m sure Olbermann will now declare Barbara and Jenna worst persons in the world for praising their father.

Wikipedia says Susan Ford had her prom at hte White House, so she may have lived there. Ford’s youngest son, Steven, was 18 when Ford became president. Wikipedia doesn’t seem to indicate whether he lived at the White House when he wasn’t off to college. But even if he did live thre from time to time, he wasn’t really a boy…

Nixon and Johnson only had girls.

Yeah, it’s looking like JFK Jr. is the last one…

It’s always been interesting to me that while Jenna was named after her mother’s mother, the family resemblance is the Bush family. Barbara has the name of her father’s mother, but she resembles her mother. It’s a nice family crossover.

INC on January 23, 2009 at 7:31 PM

Maybe if Jenna and Barbara had been the Bush Administration spokespersons for eight years, the MSM might have lightened up a bit. Nah.

It’s like they are surprised that the Bushes are genuine and gracious people. Hmmmmm, I wonder if that has anything to do with their Christian values, for which the President was repeatedly trashed.

Mallard T. Drake on January 23, 2009 at 7:31 PM

Obama is white-trash, but only by half.

I can’t wait for blacks to call the Obama girls “sell outs” for listening to the Jonas Brothers and/or dating a white dude. CAN’T.WAIT.

SouthernGent on January 23, 2009 at 7:34 PM

Luckily for the Obama girls, the media loves their father, so they won’t have to endure what the Bush twins did.

Anyone want to bet that there are lefty blogs out there spouting hatred, even over this? Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a “special comment” from Olby in which he attacks the Bush twins’ character tonight.

If the Bush quartet — with at least one DUI, an uncharged vehicular homicide, and multiple Minor in Possession of Alcohol violations among them — constitute “class” in your book, then yes, I am the opposite of what you consider “class.”

Right, cause cocaine is so much better.

And as far as alcohol violations are considered, your Camelot takes the prize.

Classy indeed, but then, we always knew they were.

That was incredibly sweet. *Sniff* I hope that for a split second the pitbulls in the MSM felt this big for dragging these poor girls AND their father through the mud for the last eight years. It might behoove them to stop and think once in awhile that when they are editorializing and bashing the MAN instead of his policies, they are talking about someone’s son/husband/brother/father. I’m going to try to be more mindful about not attacking Obama the man but rather his ill-conceived policies. I’ll try. ;)

As an aside: The MSM was pretty harsh toward Chelsea in the beginning as I recall. I specifically remember an SNL skit that poked fun at her looks. Hillary reacted pretty harshly to it and they backed off after that. Too bad they abandoned that policy once Bush was in office and Gov. Palin hit the trail. I have no doubt they’ll be far more respectful of Sasha and Malia. For their sake, that’s a good thing.
