Qaddafi: Bin Laden wants peace

I thought about adding this as an update to the earlier Moammar Qaddafi thread, but it has the potential for an even better comment thread. Qaddafi, after offering his advice to Israel in the New York Times, gave Barack Obama the benefit of his wisdom as well. The Libyan dictator suggested that Obama should reach out to Osama bin Laden, as the notorious terrorist might want peace after all. Ironically, al-Qaeda provided the answer:
Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi urged President Barack Obama to give Osama bin Laden a chance to make peace.
Gadhafi, who is known for outspoken comments, told an audience of Georgetown University students by videoconference Wednesday that bin Laden has shown signs that he is open to dialogue. He recommended that Obama seek an opening with the terrorist leader who is considered enemy number one in the United States for ordering the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
“I think Osama bin Laden is a person who can be given a chance,” he said in Arabic through an interpreter. “Maybe he wants peace.”
Maybe he does. If so, maybe Osama should be talking to his media flacks, like Abu Yahya al-Libi. In the same report, MS-NBC reports that AQ promises more death and destruction in Western nations and especially the UK for the glorious victory of Hamas in Gaza … er, the pounding Hamas took in Gaza:
“It’s high time that this criminal country, I mean Britain, paid the price of its historic crime,” Abu Yahya al-Libi said in a video posted on an Islamist Web site.
“There is no child who dies in Palestine … without this being the outcome of the (country) that handed Palestine to the Jews … Britain.” …
In the 31-minute video, al-Libi also repeated calls for attacks on other Western countries including the United States.
“Make them taste the bitterness of war and the tragedies of homelessness and the misery of horror,” he said in a call to militant fighters. “They should not be secure while our people (Palestinians) are scared.["]
Sounds like a peace initiative to me! All we have to do is destroy Israel, flee from the Middle East, and start paying the jizya to Osama’s new Caliphate. Obama might accept that as his idea of peace, but only if we unseat Hosni Mubarak and King Abdullah on the way out the door.
I’m sure President Obama will take advice from Qaddafi when Israel starts consulting him on foreign policy.
I’m beginning to miss the days when Qaddafi didn’t dare show his face in Western nations.

Maybe this was an err in translation … I’m pretty sure Qaddafi suggested Obama should give Osama a reach around, not reach out.

“Since you’re a Muslim, Bin Laden would be willing to spare you and the U.S. as long as you officially declare Islam as the official religion of the country and if you follow Sharia Law.”

As a Syracuse University Alum (2001-2003 and then transferred) and being in the basketball pep band they hate Georgetown so much because of basketball. Unfortunately being one of the few conservatives at Syracuse, I don’t think it would ever go any deeper than that, unless a professor or someone within the SU administration had a personal attachment to that particular incident.

Lest we forget, Kaddafi’s rehabilitation began with the intervention of that unrepentant (yet somehow “rehabilated”) necklassing crypto-Marxist/terrorist, Nelson Mandela.
After 9/11, I predicted we’d live to see the day when Kaddafi became a peace emissary (like his mentor, old Nelson) by rehabilitating Osama bin-Laden.
Watch it happen.

If I ran my own country, I’d give myself a higher rank than Colonel. Maybe he just likes the alliteration or something, but I don’t think I can trust a guy who’s been stuck at the same rank for like 30 years.

While I did see that, I also noticed that there was really no mention on what actually happened or on who was responsible. It seemed more or less like just remembering the students. While there is nothing wrong with that, to me it doesn’t seem like they really care who did it.
SU as a student body and as a school is pretty liberal. Students were already talking about Obama becoming the next President back in 2002. Most of those students were from New York or Boston and having been in New England from Sept 2007 – Sept 2008 for a job I understand why Syracuse is so liberal now.
After all aside from New York, most of the students at SU are from Massachusetts.
