Sarah was the BEST VP pick at that time. McCain chose correctly. The housing bubble burst later in Sept. In hindsight IF McCain was faced ALREADY with the crumbling economy, YES he would have picked Romney and it would have been the correct pick. Then, we could have brought up Sarah later rather than early as we did.

There is a lot I like about Palin but I’m telling you guys she can’t get elected POTUS. Find someone else or hand Slick Barry Term 2 on a silver platter.

Relax. There is plenty of time til things heat up for 2012. I love Sarah, but she will have to prove herself more as a national candidate and beat out the competition and help 2010 candidates for Congress.

She seems to be doing everything right since the election loss.

She’s already started to show us that she is pro-environment which I already knew but some are figuring out for the first time. She’s just not pro-environment at the expense of humanity.

Sarah fought like Joan fighting for France, loyal to the end and to the Dauphin. Heck, she wasn’t part of royalty and the higher ups saw her as a threat.

The similarities (at least the political ones) are eerily similar.

Strong inspirational leader who the grassroots and troops follow who serves the weaker man, but who is her superior on paper.

McCain was and is VERY jealous of the attention Sarah got during the campaign.

Also, McCain has a problem with women to some extent. He has a history of being a terrible womanizer. These characteristics probably were nipping at the brain.

Sarah privately grew frustrated at what she thought was a mismanaged campaign and let McCain know that he needed to FIGHT. Sarah is very competitive and does not like to lose. She is not the Cuda for nothing.

McCain probably resents being in effect lectured to by Sarah that he was not trying hard enough to win.

Frankly, with what is at stake, she was right to privately criticise him and try to get John to man-up and truly fight with all cylinders firing up.

Meghan rightfully is loyal to her Dad, and probably was one of the people favoring picking Sarah despite her and Sarah having nothing in common.

Sarah probably thinks McCain lost due to his failure to cut loose and fight.

I guess you are unfamiliar with the phrase “damning with faint praise?” Actually I expect the daughter of a career politician to be better versed in how to say nice things she might not believe rather than “no comment” something and leave it open for people to think the worst.

How many people who have been governor for less than a year were being touted as legit. VP contenders? How about the Obama-Jindal comparisons – why do you think that that is happening? Jindal is being touted because his image is so different from the staid image of the Republican party. The same way that Palin gets a boost for being a woman and a mom with a baby.

Nixon was Senator for 2 years before becoming VP. He did serve in the House prior to that. Some would argue that Palin’s executive experience puts her far ahead of the country-clubbers in the Senate and perpetual campaigners in the House.

Less than 3 months posthence the last Republican ticket has divided the party. That is not good.

You highlight the problem with putting forth a ticket with minimal cohesion. Palin was stained by her romp with McCain. McCain had nothing to lose. Palin did muscle her way into the national spotlight. But the resulting infighting does not bode well for her next time around.
