Meghan McCain on Palin: Um, no comment

Her second conspicuous demurral on this subject in less than 10 days. Just for giggles, I did a Google search of her blog to try to find the last time she mentioned Palin there. Unless I missed something, it was all the way back on the night of McCain’s concession speech. For all the sniping between Team ‘Cuda and Team Maverick, to the best of my knowledge no one named Palin or McCain has yet said an unkind word publicly about the other side. Smart money’s on Meghan to finally be the one to crack.
Watch the whole thing if you’re in the mood for some Times-bashing or else skip ahead to 3:00. “I don’t really think I would like to look back on what happened during the election,” she says in response to the question about Palin, having just spent three minutes looking back on what happened during the election. Exit question: If it’s all about looking forward, why’d she say just last week that Sarahcuda is the “only part of the campaign that I won’t comment on publicly”?

I only gave to McCAin after he picked Palin. I don’t appreciate how Palin was treated by McCains people after their loss. I agree with all thise who say hei loss would have been a lot worse without Palin. She is special and she is often described as the real deal. I think that McCain never saw her coming in repects to the affect she has had on us conservatives. I think he is resentful and jealous. I showed him how I felt by deleting his email askin g us to join his PAC. McCains actions are the reason we don’t care for him now. Had he defended her or shown her more support you wouldn’t see this response to him or his backstabbing daughter. Backstabber yes because there is nothing preventing her from saying how much she liked PALIN AND HER FAMILY AND HOW GRATEFUL THEY ARE THAT SHE AGREED TO RUN IN A RACE THAT WAS STACKED AGAINST THEM! THAT THEY GOT AS CLOSE AS THEY DID IS A MIRACLE WITH THE CHEATING BY ACORN THE DEMOCRATIC SECRETARY OF STATES WHO ADDED VOTES FOR OBAMA,THE GROUPS WHO MOVED TO STATES TO STEAL MORE VOTES FOR O, THE MEDIA, THE LIES… MY GOD SARAH PALIN DESERVES A MEDAL OF HONOR FOR WHAT SHE DID AND CONTINUES TO DO FOR CONSERVATIVES.
Oops didn’t see cap locks …not rewriting all this…
CCRWM on January 22, 2009 at 8:21 PM
Oh and does anyone think CNN would be interviewing Meagan McCain if she were going to be nice about Sarah Palin?
CCRWM on January 22, 2009 at 8:24 PM
Do you reckon she’s a vote-winner on the national stage?
Honestly?
Ares on January 22, 2009 at 8:35 PM
Honestly.
And if Nobama keeps going the way the way he has his first couple of days, she’s going to look FANTASTIC in 2012.
The American people will demand that she run and win.
(That’s if we’re still alive…)
Jenfidel on January 22, 2009 at 8:39 PM
As kcarpenter, the Superstar, once said… vomit.
If the GOP is going to rally as it did in 1979 and 1994, it must stay true to its platform, and those who would speak for it must stay on message. That’s it. Fight ‘em on the issues, and we are right there. We lost this year, because we were seen as being weak on the issues.
chunderroad on January 22, 2009 at 8:44 PM
What a practical, pragmatic and entirely unwelcomed approach.
Traitor!
The Race Card on January 22, 2009 at 8:45 PM
Look at the concern troll being all folksy and saying “reckon,” at the same time saying her appeal is narrowly limited to the “idiot base.”
Honestly, I reckon you can go find yourself some young, good-looking, charismatic Rockefeller Republican untainted by scandal, with a good ground game and quick with a sound byte. Oh, you don’t have one of those? Then STFU.
chunderroad on January 22, 2009 at 8:48 PM
That STFU goes for you, too. Unless you have a legitimate complaint about Gov. Palin, one that has nothing to do with how well you think she’ll perform in a primary that is three years (prep begins eight months from now) then stuff it.
chunderroad on January 22, 2009 at 8:51 PM
It is not often that I find a comment that I classify as the stupidest one I have seen in years but yours fits the bill. Do you even understand what the Medal of Honor is for?
take a tour of http://www.cmohs.org/
and learn what it is really about.
Bradky on January 22, 2009 at 8:59 PM
For starters, I was not replying to the specifics of your comment. Rather, I was alluding to the larger point of intra-party pettiness and infighting. Thank you for reinforcing my point.
Aside from the obvious, your instability, I’m curious about what response you think I might have to your outburst.
Do you expect to silence with your manly behest? Upon what grounds do you presume to have such sway over me?
There are a few people herein who comment and communicate with ferocity and fervor that would be absent in real life. You and I both know that you would not speak to me in person the way you have addressed me online.
I am glad to provide an object for your catharsis.
Good night to you.
The Race Card on January 22, 2009 at 9:23 PM
Good for you. Although your statement might be highly offensive to some. Stop and consider. ;)
What facts? Three months of relentless Slime Machine activity and the woman still holds a fascination. You’re assuming that the Tina Fey/pop culture/moonbat caricature is always going to carry the day. Ain’t necessarily so. By any means.
ddrintn on January 22, 2009 at 10:16 PM
At least she knows to jump out when the ship’s about to sink.
sethstorm on January 22, 2009 at 10:30 PM
While I like Sarah Palin, and appriciates what she brings to the table for conservatives, I agree with you.
CCRWM, the Medal of Honor is a very sacred award for members of the military, past and present. It is pinned on the nation’s bravest warriors, all of whom have performed actions above and beyond that which is expected of any human being under similar circumstances.
We’re talking about men that have driven on while wounded severely, that have watched their friends die or lose limbs, that have shown pure, unadulterated courage in the face of overwhelming adversity. These might be empty words to you, but anyone that’s ever seen combat can understand exactly what some of these men that have earned it went through.
For every instance of every person that’s earned the award, even with it being the highest military honor that commands a salute from the hardest, and meanest of warriors out of raw respect, is not enough thanks for what these men have gone through.
I hope this helps clarify why that comparison is foul and offensive.
leetpriest on January 22, 2009 at 10:52 PM
Oh, good grief. The person just used it as an expression; I don’t think he/she meant to desecrate the memory of MoH winners.
ddrintn on January 22, 2009 at 11:09 PM
I’ll bet even money if a Democrat had used the description regarding one their members the outrage meter would run to a thousand comments.
Bradky on January 22, 2009 at 11:16 PM
Well, take that up with whoever makes that sort of comment. I haven’t.
ddrintn on January 22, 2009 at 11:20 PM
By picking fights with comments like these:
The Palin slobber fest is getting old though. She still needs to prove her mettle. As it stands, she is no more than an reactionary rallying point to the Obama fervor. The whining about media coverage is quite wussified.
It will be great when Republicans drop the VPILF and “hot grandma” talking points and let this woman show us if she’s worthy of a nomination in 2016.
First, we don’t want a second Obama term. Second, we support Sarah Palin as a conservative. No one is thinking seriously about the next election but nurturing the players who have a future with the party.
I had no motive but stating the obvious: you are a trouble maker, and there is really no intra-party warring here or reason to attack Sarah Palin or her supporters.
Sounds like you have the hots for me.
Though you will never have the pleasure of making my acquaintance, let me assure you I am neither meek nor shy. My voice is the same online and irl. Again… Unless you have a legitimate complaint about Gov. Palin, one that has nothing to do with how well you think she’ll perform in a primary that is three years (prep begins eight months from now) away, then stuff it.
Goodnight, sirrah. LOL.

McCain’s kids maybe was all badmouthy of Palin
karasoth on January 23, 2009 at 8:03 AM
The media is relentless, stupid and hacky. For whatever reason Meghan McCain doesn’t like Palin. So what? Not everyone’s going to like everyone else in politics even if they are on the same team. The media already knows that Meghan isn’t speaking on it based on the principle “if you can’t say anything nice” but they continue to push that story hoping she’ll crap. And btw I’m including this blog which supposedly doesn’t like the dumb games the media plays. Way to totally participate in it.
DeathToMediaHacks on January 23, 2009 at 8:15 AM
What happened during the election is that the GOP ran an AGW freakazoid who, like the 98 pound weakling who won said close Gitmo. Oh, and he wanted to spend 300 billion to keep people in overpriced homes that they can’t afford, so the market would never correct itself. And he didn’t know the diffference between Fannie Mae and Daisy Mae.

I have good news mujahadeen. The great satan has chosen a weak horse. He releases Allah’s fighters to curry our favor. Praise Allah we can now recover from the setbacks of the last few years because of the evil Bush. We will soon returh to America and the people will greet us with open arms as we spread the will of Allah. Praise Allah.
Basilsbest on January 23, 2009 at 8:30 AM
How many people who have been governor for less than a year were being touted as legit. VP contenders? How about the Obama-Jindal comparisons – why do you think that that is happening? Jindal is being touted because his image is so different from the staid image of the Republican party. The same way that Palin gets a boost for being a woman and a mom with a baby.

IlikedAUH2O on January 23, 2009 at 9:23 AM
I’ve noticed that also. Sen. McCain’s track record is very clear. He is a Beltway Elitist. The MSM supported him in the Republican Primary as the Comeback Kid so they could generate a groundswell of support. It was a set-up for Obama to win.
Sarah connects with the Average America. That is what makes Liberals, Elitist, and all those who want to change the Republican Party to Democrat-Lite very nervous.
kingsjester on January 23, 2009 at 9:36 AM
Well, without Paris Hilton, your turd candidate McCain wouldn’t have gotten 100 electoral votes.
I like Palin a lot, and I think she has potential. I never wanted her to hook up with McCain because I said he was doomed to lose after the primaries, and I didn’t think she was ready.
There was about one day after she gave her speech at the convention, where I thought they might have shot. Then McCain came on the next night and I went back to doom and gloom. Cr*p on Palin all you want, but she’s the only reason it wasn’t a complete blowout. This loss belongs to McCain, and to anyone who supported him in the primaries. You threw away the nomination.
austinnelly on January 23, 2009 at 9:59 AM
She may or may not be but we have proof that McCain isn’t a vote -winner on the national stage in spite of all his years of experience. He lost the election.
Whether the Palin haters agree or not, her addition to the Rep ticket DID bring in money and many conservatives who were not happy with McCain, people who might have stayed home because they felt the choice of McCain had been shoved down their throats by crossover voters and the media. Could he have won without the conservatives that his supporters now dismiss as bad?
If the daughter McCain wants to make the rounds on the talk shows she really needs to understand the reality of “words have consequences.” She does her father no good when she appears to damn the running mate HE CHOSE. If McCain and company think Palin was a mistake they have no one to blame but themselves. Meghan should be smart enough to be able to politely comment on the woman her father thought should be the VP of the US and if she’s not she should STFU and stay out of the public eye.
katiejane on January 23, 2009 at 10:28 AM
Meghan McCain doesn’t think that Palin is cool? Heh, but I bet she thinks Madonna is coooooool.

Perhaps she’s being coy, but she hasn’t disparaged Palin the way Frum, Parker, et al have.

Rick007 on January 23, 2009 at 10:58 AM
Unbelievable.
She didn’t offer a comment, and therefore she damns Sarah Palin.
You people are worse than the liberals who believed that Bush lied about Iraq. They are expected to be mindless moonbats. But not you. You are supposed to know better than this, you’re not supposed to believe someone is guilty until proven innocent like is their standard operating procedure.
If you do this even to McCain’s daughter, then who else will you do this to. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
wise_man on January 23, 2009 at 11:42 AM
Not that anyone will see this comment, but this is the THIRD time Meghan has refused to comment on Palin.
She was on Fox and Friends a few days ago, and was asked a couple of times to comment, and refused to do so.

As the arbiter of all comments legitimate, you might note that the primary subject of this thread is Meghan McCain.
I apologize If I was unclear in my previous reply. You are not shy or meek. You are a pussy.
Aside from that, I am amused that you would not only squelch my words, but actually dictate them for me. I guess I should be appreciative of having someone so into to me that they would take my place.
I am lowly and unworthy of your further consideration. Don’t sully yourself by mucking it up with the likes of me. I suck, you rule.
Thanks Easter Bunny!

Nixon was Senator for 2 years before becoming VP. He did serve in the House prior to that. Some would argue that Palin’s executive experience puts her far ahead of the country-clubbers in the Senate and perpetual campaigners in the House.
Less than 3 months posthence the last Republican ticket has divided the party. That is not good.
You highlight the problem with putting forth a ticket with minimal cohesion. Palin was stained by her romp with McCain. McCain had nothing to lose. Palin did muscle her way into the national spotlight. But the resulting infighting does not bode well for her next time around.
After deep and lascivious consideration I feel that I must apologize. To those whom I have offended, please feel free to flash me your breasts.
The Race Card on January 23, 2009 at 12:21 PM

Boy…whew…I’m relieved to see that there is another McCain who can carry on after her Daddy is done! Now we can have the Bush family and the Clinton family and now the McCain family to run for POTUS forever and ever and ever! Cool! There’s only 300million people in the US so the pickings are slim don’t ya know!!! Nice to see that daddy is grooming his little darling to be Maveriky…
sabbott on January 23, 2009 at 5:13 PM
I guess you are unfamiliar with the phrase “damning with faint praise?” Actually I expect the daughter of a career politician to be better versed in how to say nice things she might not believe rather than “no comment” something and leave it open for people to think the worst.
You should be ashamed of thinking this young woman is so stupid/naive that she doesn’t know how to play the political game.
katiejane on January 23, 2009 at 6:38 PM
Oh and wise_man – how are we supposed to feel about McCain signing on to be Obama’s number one “go to boy” in the Senate?
katiejane on January 23, 2009 at 6:39 PM
McCain got cash from me only because he brought Palin in… As soon as she was finished speaking at the convention I made a contribution online. I wanted no doubt as to why I donated. Is Sarah perfect? I hope not. We already have One of those.
-
Is she awesome? Absolutely! 2012 should be hers in a walk. Obie is about to piss off tons of people who drank the cool-aid… (sic) and didn’t believe the truth about this want-to-be dictator.
-
PS… Who really cares what the McCains say or think about Sarah now anyway? His campaign was only worth paying attention to after Palin joined.
RalphyBoy on January 23, 2009 at 7:36 PM
Well, then, tell McCain’s chubby daughter to flash her boobs at you. Hell, write the President a letter.
Your apology means spit to me, as does your estimation of my character. You’re a loser troll, and nobody cares what you think.
I cut and pasted your earlier comment. The further away I am from the inside of your head, the better I’ll sleep.
Don’t start, and there wouldn’t be. Just shut up and leave.
chunderroad on January 23, 2009 at 10:13 PM
My prediction based on everything I’ve seen:
Sarah privately grew frustrated at what she thought was a mismanaged campaign and let McCain know that he needed to FIGHT. Sarah is very competitive and does not like to lose. She is not the Cuda for nothing.
McCain probably resents being in effect lectured to by Sarah that he was not trying hard enough to win.
Frankly, with what is at stake, she was right to privately criticise him and try to get John to man-up and truly fight with all cylinders firing up.
Meghan rightfully is loyal to her Dad, and probably was one of the people favoring picking Sarah despite her and Sarah having nothing in common.
Sarah probably thinks McCain lost due to his failure to cut loose and fight.
Sapwolf on January 23, 2009 at 11:47 PM
And by the way, Meghan is a leftist in case nobody knows.
Sapwolf on January 23, 2009 at 11:57 PM
Money take.
Metro on January 24, 2009 at 12:00 AM
Sarah was the Joan of Arc and McCain was the pussy Dauphin.
Sarah fought like Joan fighting for France, loyal to the end and to the Dauphin. Heck, she wasn’t part of royalty and the higher ups saw her as a threat.
The similarities (at least the political ones) are eerily similar.
Strong inspirational leader who the grassroots and troops follow who serves the weaker man, but who is her superior on paper.
McCain was and is VERY jealous of the attention Sarah got during the campaign.
Also, McCain has a problem with women to some extent. He has a history of being a terrible womanizer. These characteristics probably were nipping at the brain.
Sapwolf on January 24, 2009 at 12:08 AM
Relax. There is plenty of time til things heat up for 2012. I love Sarah, but she will have to prove herself more as a national candidate and beat out the competition and help 2010 candidates for Congress.
She seems to be doing everything right since the election loss.
She’s already started to show us that she is pro-environment which I already knew but some are figuring out for the first time. She’s just not pro-environment at the expense of humanity.
Sapwolf on January 24, 2009 at 12:25 AM
Sarah was the BEST VP pick at that time. McCain chose correctly. The housing bubble burst later in Sept. In hindsight IF McCain was faced ALREADY with the crumbling economy, YES he would have picked Romney and it would have been the correct pick. Then, we could have brought up Sarah later rather than early as we did.
Sapwolf on January 24, 2009 at 12:29 AM
I still don’t think Romney would have made the same splash as Palin. She performed like the star she is when it counted… Dayton, the convention, the debate and her appearance on SNL.
