I don’t want to play semantic gymnastics here, but success is a relative term, predicated by intent. If his intent is to enfeeble the United States in national defense, then I don’t want him to succeed at that, either.

Listening to Rush Limbaugh speak about Obama ascending into the sky made me aware that I have been so dense in speculating why Obama, the MSM, and Huffington Post, the nutroots and the elitists hate Sarah Palin: quite simply Sarah will never waver in her faith and belief in the Messiah who was born in Bethlehem 2000 years ago and was raised from the dead and thus will never bow down to the ‘new Messiah’, as McCain and Graham and countless number of other Republicans have. For that egregious sin Sarah must be destroyed. For the amoral, secular word there can only be one Messiah–and that is Obama. It’s so shockingly simple that I missed it. Is there anybody out there like me?

You are more correct than you know. It’s also the reason they absolutly loath Bush. They can not stand anyone who actually believes in God. One can’t really seperate the modern denial of God and the many factions that have come together to support Obama. He is their God because he tells them all the things they love to do are OK. Nothing else matters to them.

So you will excuse me if I consider it good news that Rush wants to see the new President, in office for less than 2 days, to fail. We have found out that whatever Rush pushes has simply failed. Please Rush, keep up the good work. America deserves a successful president.

On a certain level you have a point. Rush has been a good soldier and followed the GOP line for far too long! His support of RINO’s like McCain and Bush in the past have weakened his image as a conservative. He must now stand firm if he is to be taken seriously. I remain skeptical of him. I think he is a radio personality but nothing more. I don’t think there is much substance there. It’s one thing to have a schtik on the radio but another to put up in real life. He is also paid gazillions of dollars for his radio bit!

Rush must stop swallowing the GOP line at every turn now! Then and only then will real conservatives like me start listening again. As for Hannity…not so much…

I see their hatred for Governor Palin directed at the whole package and her faith is part of that package, though not necessarily the most egregious of her faults.
But I agree with you that even the amoral secularists need a god. I think it is hard-wired into our psyche. We have the one true God, but they have rejected Him. Some have replaced God with themselves (AP) and many have accepted Obama as their god. Both types are doomed to failure but can be dangerous to society while they thrive in this climate of supposed tolerance. That tolerance, of course, excludes Christians and Jews who, oddly enough, honor the one true God.

As for 1981, no, liberals were not rejoicing. All I recall was the left going crazy that Reagan was a nuclear madman.

Heh — I was 10 when Reagan took office. I remember for a long time after seeing signs plastered all over the place saying “No Nukes.” I had to ask my mother what it meant and she had some snarky reply about peace-loving hippies with their heads up their behinds or something.

As for Rush, I’ve been listening to him more over the last few months. Used to listen to him regularly back in the 90s but got out of the habit. He’s been ON FIRE lately though. The other day some guy called in and compared him to Obama and he WENT OFF! In fairness to the caller, I think what he meant was that Obama’s supporters look to him to validate what they already think and believe, much as we Dittoheads do. I know a lot of moonbats think Rush is brainwashing all of us, as if we aren’t intelligent and sensible enough to have already drawn these conclusions on our own, independent of what Rush might say. I know that’s why *I* like to listen to him: I enjoy hearing my thoughts come out of his mouth. ;) But Rush was quick to drive that point home to the guy, arguing that we are not looking to him for guidance, or to fix all of our ills as the Obamabots are. I totally get what he’s saying about rooting for failure, and I agree with him. Unfortunately most people don’t. I got into it with someone the other day over this. I’m not rooting for Obama to fail; I’m rooting for his policies to fail. If he wants to institute some policies that have proved in the past to actually work, I will root for them to succeed. People seem to have an inability to separate the man from his work. I respect the office of the presidency, but the president — no matter who he is — is just a fallible human being and the best I can do is pray that somehow he will find his way to doing what is right for this country. Ultimately, that’s my main concern. At the most, Obama will only be there 8 years. This country — hopefully — will be around much longer, but that might not be the case if we head down the wrong path. And that’s my main concern, not whether His Excellency gets his way.

Ironically enough, it’s the Democratic Congress that’s the greatest danger right now. Obama will be at least partly restrained by trying to offend as few people as possible so he gets that second term. Congress, on the other hand, will not feel the need to govern from the center.

But isn’t the way that people learn that socialism sucks is that socialism is tried and it fails? Pain is part of the learning process. And anyway, the stakes are so low given our current prosperity that what would a recession even mean? 25% of the population being unable to afford cable?

I want the U.S. to succeed under the Obama Presidency, but that does not necessarily mean that I want the Obama Presidency to be successful.

Does anyone really care anymore what Rush thinks? His track record has become incredibly lame. He was against McCain winning the GOP nomination – Mccain won. He tried to push Hillary as the Democratic nominee – failed. He wanted Palin as McCain’s choice for VP, he picked her, they lost – he failed. He finally ate his own words and supported McCain for president – again failed. He pushed the GOP mantra in 2006, he failed, he pushed again in 2008, once again he failed. About the only thing he has succeeded at was making money off of the minority of Americans who still call themselves conservative and republicans. Oh and he was successful in kicking the Oxy and beating the Doctor shopping charges.

I am far from a fan of Limbaugh, but your analysis is unfair. 2006 and 2008 were bad years for the Republicans and would have been no matter what Limbaugh said. Nor do I understand attacking Rush Oxy problem undermines Rush on non-drug issues. (Admittedly, Rush shouldn’t be talking against decriminalizing marijuana given what he’s done.)

Monkei, tell us how Rush is wrong in what he said in the clips above, if you wish to productively contribute here.

Don’t worry. Like all things of the Reagan era, he will eventually fail, without replacement.

Time will tell what the Socialist Obamba will do. He will be judged by the first full time job he has ever held. I think he will fold under pressure after two years. He has never had to make any decisions in his life. The American people will be able to get a good look at him (which they weren’t able to do in 2008). The elections at 2012 won’t look so good for him! Yahoo! The specialness of it all is that he is doing it all to himself, the One!

Hannity would be wise to have you on his program occasionally to comment on a current issue of the day, so that your audience and influence would widen. There are more people out there who embrace your ideas than the drive-bys permit people to know or believe.

Thank you, too, Sean Hannity, for allowing Rush to expand on his ideas without interrupting. There was a nice flow to this interview.
