Special, special lady confirmed as Secretary of State

posted at 4:41 pm on January 21, 2009 by Allahpundit

94-2, with an assist from Maverick in his first floor speech since the election. Cheers broke out in the gallery when they gaveled it. I wonder how she feels about being the first secretary of state appointed by a genuine author-president.

Not sure who the two no votes were; I’ll update once I hear. Exit question: You do realize that MSNBC anchors are laughing openly now at the GOP’s lack of “cojones,” don’t you? Click the image to watch.

Update: The no votes were Vitter, who tangled with her at the hearing over the Clinton Foundation, and Jim DeMint. I wonder what his problem was.

I wonder who the new Senator from NY is gonna be…..

kanda on January 21, 2009 at 6:18 PM

How about Monica, she is experienced filling in for Hillery.

Wade on January 21, 2009 at 6:31 PM

Well, the GOP has to pick it’s battles wisely right now.

Go RBNY on January 21, 2009 at 4:53 PM

The GOP is worthless . . . I don’t believe there is anything that would make them fight.

rplat on January 21, 2009 at 6:34 PM

What does the SoS do, besides hob-nob and get nothing done?

lorien1973 on January 21, 2009 at 4:55 PM

In this case, the SoS will probably also provide cover and take the heat for an inept and naive Chief Executive.

ddrintn on January 21, 2009 at 6:41 PM

There you have it, Vetter and DeMint, the only two Republicans with balls.

At least they realize Campaign 2012 STARTS TODAY!

OK, I said it before, but I REALLY need to quit reading this stuff at work. One day, I’m going to have to explain to everyone why I break out into spontaneous fits of laughter at unknown/inopportune moments.

flyawaybird on January 21, 2009 at 6:51 PM

Welcome to the first congress of the USSA – Union of Socialist States of America. The next 4 years are going to be real bad for anyone with conservative values. REALLY BAD!

dddave on January 21, 2009 at 6:52 PM

This nightmare is almost complete. I wonder if they’ll give her her old shredder back?

Every time I read “Special, special lady” here it just cracks me up…

Perhaps we’ll have the opportunity to see Hillery undermine PBHO

McCain is a pimple in serious need of squeezing.

pilamaye on January 21, 2009 at 5:18 PM

OK, seriously, this should be the quote of the day. It actually represents the person, as well as what really needs to be done to cure the problem.
And for good measure, it’s disgusting to think about. Which also represents the situation……

JeffinOrlando on January 21, 2009 at 7:50 PM

Oh crap
now the only advice i would give to anyone near her is this
Dont ride on an airplane..
they have a tendancy to go down..

jcila on January 21, 2009 at 7:55 PM

On the good side, with Hillary gone the Senate now has 2 empty chairs.

I wonder where the Republicans were? Granted it wouldn’t have changed the outcome and Senators don’t vote against fellow club members but Clinton’s ethic problems are the hallmark of filthy bastard’s administration. Not one key member doesn’t have “issues” when it comes to ethics…

Impeach, indict, incarcerate! Yes we can!!!

highhopes on January 21, 2009 at 8:27 PM

All I hope is that someone buffs her up, she’s a mess. Between her hair and her cloths. ugh!

DJ from MA on January 21, 2009 at 8:36 PM

DeMint is a principled conservative. I’m glad that he and Vitter did not give Hillary a unanimous shoo-in.

Reminds me of that Helen Reddy song from the seventies

Angie Baby, you’re a special lady
Living in a world of make-believe
…. well, maybe…..

By the way, after watching the video, I have to say that Norah O’Donnell is pretty cute too.

She used to be ultra-hot. Now she’s just good looking, with the same pea-brain.

How does the song go?

“Cuz the bitch, cuz the bitch, cuz the bitch is back!

And you morons thought Albright was bad? Y’all ain’t seen nuthin yet!

Falconsword on January 21, 2009 at 11:50 PM

Was it mentioned at the hearing that it’s unconstitutional to put her in that position? I thought Condi’s salary had been raised.

Hillary’s appearance is a definite improvement over her husband’s choice for Sec’y of State, Madeleine Albright.

Perhaps we’ll have the opportunity to see Hillery undermine PBHO

mindhacker on January 21, 2009 at 7:45 PM

As Secretary of State, that would be GOOD for the country. During the campaign, Obama said he wanted direct summit talks with Ahmanutjob, Hugo Chavez, the Castro brothers, and Crazy Korean Kim, in passionate lip-lock with their rectums.

Hillary, to her credit, called that “reckless and naive”, and refused to lend the prestige of the presidency to propaganda for our enemies. As Secretary of State, Hillary could protect Obama (and the country) from his own weakness and naivete, and she can rely on the advice of her husband, who is well-liked overseas.

I’m no fan of Hillary Bottom Clinton, but if we’re stuck with four years of the untested Wishful Wand-Waver, Hillary can provide realism and respect from our allies and enemies. On foreign policy, she girds his loins, which are as empty as his head and the rest of his suit.

Steve Z on January 22, 2009 at 11:04 AM

Oh, by the way, if Hillary is busy with foreign policy as Secretary of State, she won’t have time to screw up health-care with socialized medicine!

Steve Z on January 22, 2009 at 11:06 AM

Senators on both sides are quiet for one reason, I think. They can’t wait to get their hands on those trillions! Instant programs for the homies, re-election, kickbacks! It’s raining dollars!
