Mother of kid named after Hitler: It’s just a name. Oh, and also, Hitler was a hero.

Via Breitbart, dad’s been stupidly insisting for months that they chose names like “Aryan Nation” for their kids simply to be different, notwithstanding the amazing coincidence that their house is littered with swastikas. Here’s another amazing coincidence: Turns out mom got hold of a baby book somewhere that casts Hitler as an “old German hero” who, and I quote, “helped Germany defeat in World War II.”

Still no word on why the state took the kids, but after watching this I’m wondering if it’s a basic competence issue.

[Hitler] “helped Germany defeat in World War II.”

Clearly, this is bad syntax, but let’s give credit where credit is due: Hitler, with his idiotic ploy to double-cross Stalin and attack the Soviet Union, did, more than most others, help bring about the defeat of Germany.

Just another useless factoid.

Perhaps these same folks will go to the white house and remove a person named “Hussein”?

I gotta say, rights, constitution and all…

…they’re fucking idiots, they deserve what they got, and I really don’t care. =)

There are so many more deserving people to care about in the world. These people could die…and I just wouldn’t care. Sorry. Maybe that makes me cold hearted, but I just…really don’t care. =)

Do people literally lose sleep over innocent black villagers being raped and tortured in the Sudan? Sure, we get mad, but do we start spouting off about rights ad nauseum?

Didn’t think so. =)

I have way more compassion for people I’ve never seen, never met, and only have heard about in some faraway land than I do for these fucking morons, whining about how it’s their right to be idiots and loathsome assholes in public.

Cry me a fucking river.

Sorry for all the cussing and all, but if I saw these people crying over their kids rl, I’d laugh at them, I’d spit, and I’d give them the finger.

And I’d sleep real well at night afterwards. =)

Nobody deserves to lose their kids for naming them after gruesome and unsavory dictators.

And you miss a more important point- these children are three and under. They don’t know anything about who Hitler was and they don’t care.

They do know who their Mommy and Daddy are, and study after study has shown that when children this young are yanked from their homes, essentially amputated from all they know and love and placed with strangers, it can do irreparable damage. Yes, worse than being left in even sub-standard homes. Those children are suffering untold agonies, fear, terror, loneliness, and heartache right now- much more than they were just for being deal such a reprehensible set of names.

You might laugh at the parents crying over their kids. I don’t see anything funny or about the state forcing those children to cry over losing their parents.

And so far, I haven’t seen anything that justifies state intervention, either.

Gotta side with the Nazi freaks on this one.

While their views may be repugnant and the names offensive I don’t see anything that would justify taking the children.

If it’s not the name and it is the environment then are we going to start taking the children of muslims since that ‘environment’ has produced evil?

The left would be right there to defend the Jihadi family raising little Osama and Saddam from the brutish jackboots who stole their children.

I say give the Hitler’s back their kids.

I guess it has become illegal in the United States to be a moron. Now we must define a “moron” which is the very scary part! Are Christians morons? Republicans, Conservatives, Anti-abortionists, Creationists? A very slippery slope indeed!

Where is the ACLU in this case? If someone took kids from a gay couple because they named their boy “Harvey Milk” I would bet the ACLU would line up.

Okay, so if you want to hear it so badly, I will come out and say it: “The names are a problem.”

I actually know of a family who named their two kids:
1. Satan
2. Lucifer

Guess what? DFS/CPS took those kids away too.

A friend of mine back in the day named one of her girls the following:

Terra Horizon Coppola (THC, the active ingredient of pot)

Needless to say she’s not a stellar parent and has had her children taken, not for what she named her kids but for many other legitimate reasons.

There has been a long line of USSC cases protecting the privacy and self determination of families. The Due Process Clause of the 14th Amendment protects personal decisions relating to marriage, procreation, contraception, family relationships, child rearing, and education. Also, most state constitutions have a right to privacy clause and all have a due process clause. And, all state codes have statutes protecting the right to privacy of families. Then there is the First Amendment protection of political speech and association.

Social Services, CPS, Family Courts, etc still do whatever they please. If you perjure yourself in Family Court (as far as I’ve seen personally) there is no punishment.
These agencies will do, can do, and DO whatever they want. Very often there is little repercussion.
The 1st Amend. is ignored ALL THE TIME by these agencies.
If you have ever been in a nasty child custody case or had CPS called on you falsely you KNOW what I’m talking about.
They don’t care about your rights.
I don’t agree with these wack jobs, but if the child is not being abused & it there is no proof of such, then leave the kid alone! Same thing with the polygamists. We may not agree with their lifestyles, but you can’t rip families apart like this. It’s awful & causes way more problems than it will ever solve.

WOW.
Well don’t come crying here bcs the govt took something away from you & violated your Const. rights.
Nothing of what you said makes what happened to that kid right.
Be careful what you wish for-if the govt finds YOUR lifestyle unacceptable, you can thank your self for your apathy.

Badger40 on January 22, 2009 at 1:54 PM

Any time the government can come in and grab your kids because they disagree with your parenting decision and it isn’t a case of obvious harm or neglect, that’s bad. It’s a free society. These people are not my kind of people, but if we’re going to allow this to happen, then none of us are safe.

I’ll be damned if I agree with these people, but I’ll fight for their right to raise their kids.

Honestly, I’d rather let them name their kid Hitler than to let a Muslim name a kid Mohammed. In terms of scale, the deaths caused by Mo are far larger than the deaths caused by Hitler.

My husband and I know one guy from the Middle East who named his firstborn son… Jihad. Yes, you read it correctly. (And I still wonder how the heck did he get a job with an American-based conglomerate with this…)
