I had a crush on her 40 years ago, but I knew it was for naught because she was a princess and I was a commoner.

I am tired of US political royalty.

I think the Princess’ choice was doomed from the get-go, in spite of all the hype and Camelotty dreams. Remember who she and the rest of the royal clan supported for the presidency. Now think about the exalted position former Senator Clinton has at present. Think about all the Clinton cronies who populate the Obama administration.

I believe the word went out, possibly/probably behind Obama’s back, to the powers that be in New York (maybe Paterson, maybe others) that Secretary Clinton would not be amused if Mrs. Schlossberg, or Kennedy-Schlossberg, or just plain Kennedy, became her replacement. We’re still dealing with the Clintons you know.

Really?

Here’s what we know: Caroline Kennedy’s advisers and friends believed she would be appointed to Hillary Clinton’s Senate seat later this week, and were working with New York Gov. Paterson and the intermediaries on the roll out.

They fully expected it to come.

But then sometime early yesterday evening, around the time Clinton resigned her Senate seat, Kennedy called New York Gov. Paterson and said she was withdrawing for personal reasons.

Now, that set off another flurry of activity where it appears that some on Paterson’s team tried to convince her not to withdraw.

The Associated Press then reported Kennedy was not withdrawing. But then there was another conference call just around midnight, and Kennedy finally, finally withdrew.

Her team put out a statement saying … it was over, she is out, it is done.

All we know from her camp is that the reasons for her dropping out are “personal.”

She wanted it if she didn’t have to work for it…just like most things given to the Kennedy’s…she was probably shocked that she actually would have to be held accountable, actually would have to at least put on a show that she was working, shocked that she would have to have a staff and manage them…in other words, she was shocked that being a Senator is almost like having a real job…
