Video: The awesomely awesome Carter/Clinton snub
posted at 4:59 pm on January 20, 2009 by Allahpundit
I linked ABC’s post about it in Headlines earlier but you can’t appreciate the iciness until you’ve seen the clip. Watch Hillary follow him with her gaze as he moves past. Think Jimmeh will be getting any invites to State Department functions?
Tough day for Her Majesty all around. Exit question: I guess the body language in this photo was no accident, huh? Click the image to watch.

It feels weird to have to side with a Clinton.
BadgerHawk on January 20, 2009 at 5:01 PM
I swear to gawd you can see Bush senior and Bill totally crack up at the slight.
Topsecretk9 on January 20, 2009 at 5:02 PM
Awww, nobody likes little Jimmy.
BadgerHawk on January 20, 2009 at 5:02 PM
He’s still upset about that wedgie he was given at the Presidents Luncheon.
Matticus Finch on January 20, 2009 at 5:04 PM
Hmm, could this be another sign that the Clintons are at the peak of there power and it is all down hill from here.
RobD on January 20, 2009 at 5:05 PM
You aren’t black enough, Hillary, welcome to the new Obarfa paradigm.
Bishop on January 20, 2009 at 5:05 PM
Seemed mutual to me.
Esthier on January 20, 2009 at 5:05 PM
JIMMAH!
spmat on January 20, 2009 at 5:05 PM
Definitely worthy of a separate post. And Hilary gave that old fart major stink-eye. Good stuff!!
califcon on January 20, 2009 at 5:06 PM
Me too. Clinton didnt look at him at all.
lorien1973 on January 20, 2009 at 5:07 PM
Don’t weep for Jimmy,
he’s still the muslims’ favorite dhimmi.
pseudonominus on January 20, 2009 at 5:07 PM
Hillary’s look says “Just remember I’m going to be at your state funeral old man.”
highhopes on January 20, 2009 at 5:08 PM
Classic. Hillary looks at him like he just peed on her shoe.
Sefton on January 20, 2009 at 5:08 PM
What’s the back story?
BigD on January 20, 2009 at 5:10 PM
BJBilly snubbed Peanut first, and I can understand why.
That’s right highhopes, and Hilly might just know how to expedite that and Fosterise Peanut.
44Magnum on January 20, 2009 at 5:10 PM
LOL, Gotta love the Audi commercial for a Obama Inaug. related video. Change and Hope….for those who can afford it. lol
bucsox79 on January 20, 2009 at 5:11 PM
Yep, Jimmma is just getting some practice not speaking or touching infidels! Next he’ll be practicing his jihadi quotes, like “Infidel, I Kill you!” or “allah ahkbar, now die you infidel dog!”
Liberty or Death on January 20, 2009 at 5:12 PM
That was classic.
HawaiiLwyr on January 20, 2009 at 5:12 PM
Stop linking clips that give you a 35 sec ad for 20 secs of clip.
VolMagic on January 20, 2009 at 5:13 PM
Well one thing is a near certainty…you wont see Jimmah hopping around the globe on personal diplomacy efforts much anymore…Madame Secretary wont permit it, and she has enough balls to call Carter out on it, privately or publicly.
Mike D. on January 20, 2009 at 5:13 PM
What was that about?
pugwriter on January 20, 2009 at 5:13 PM
Both HRC and Barbara Bush look at Bill knowingly, like “you know Jimmy.”
baldilocks on January 20, 2009 at 5:13 PM
remember it was Carter who, without permission from Clinton, negotiated the disastrous treaty with North Korea. You really think he’s going to wait for the State Department to approve anything he does?
cameo on January 20, 2009 at 5:13 PM
Yeah, like he was intentionally pretending to look for a dropped quarter or something.
Esthier on January 20, 2009 at 5:16 PM
Classy guy. Jerk.
conservative pilgrim on January 20, 2009 at 5:18 PM
A nice little bright spot in an otherwise gloomy day.
Funniest line I have heard all day: After President Barry flubbed the oath of office, Rush remarked, “where’s the teleprompter?”
Mallard T. Drake on January 20, 2009 at 5:18 PM
Vintage Carter: graceless without pressure.
Bruno Strozek on January 20, 2009 at 5:19 PM
and so the long slip begins and Carter fades further into obsecurity (if that is even possible)
go build some more houses that rot and fall apart mr x-president carter
gatorboy on January 20, 2009 at 5:20 PM
Exit Question: Who is the bigger Jerk? Peanut Boy or The Clenis?
pseudonominus on January 20, 2009 at 5:21 PM
If looks could kill…..
HornetSting on January 20, 2009 at 5:23 PM
I feel sorry for all those foreign dignitaries. Now they have to deal with the Ice Queen.
My collie says:
Collie, DON’T make me feel sorry for Jimmuh, okay?
CyberCipher on January 20, 2009 at 5:23 PM
I thought that Audi commercial was an ad for The Sims 3at first.
That was pretty funny. Of the two, I’d take BJ over Carter; mercenary over anti-semite. Maybe Carter is hoping that Obama will use him as a roving envoy to the middle east so he can stick it to the joos one more time. Probably thinks he has a leg up on Clinton since Hillary lost the primary.
austinnelly on January 20, 2009 at 5:23 PM
Baldi
I swear, at the very end you can hear and see Bush 41 and Bill starting to laugh hard at it.
It’s pretty funny.
Topsecretk9 on January 20, 2009 at 5:24 PM
Don’t know, but I’d love to see them in a re-make of The Odd Couple.
Sorry. Scatelogical.
Matticus Finch on January 20, 2009 at 5:24 PM
Squirtz Clinton lost so much weight Jimmy missed him?
Jim708 on January 20, 2009 at 5:25 PM
Yep, it is weird to see them both mutually agree that Carter is a dictator in waiting. Has been for years.
upinak on January 20, 2009 at 5:26 PM
It was a mutual snub. Both Clinton and Carter had the opportunity to extend a hand. Notice how Clinton looked away just as Carter was coming up to bat.
keep the change on January 20, 2009 at 5:26 PM
God, to think I would sit here wishing she was president.
Jimmy is a bitter old anti-semite who realizes he is a walking ghost of “change” past.
Sadly, he will find a kindred spirit of Israeli hate in George Mitchell ( theres some change eh?)
jjshaka on January 20, 2009 at 5:26 PM
But, but, didn’t the grand orators at MSNBC say Jimmah is going down in history as one of the best presidents evah??
tru2tx on January 20, 2009 at 5:26 PM
Maybe Hillary can get Jimmy’s passport pulled?
katiejane on January 20, 2009 at 5:26 PM
How can Hilary stop crazy anti-Semite? President Clinton did not want Carter to negotiate with North Korea.
thuja on January 20, 2009 at 5:27 PM
I think this is a great day for Carter. He was going to go down in history as “worst President ever” but his legacy is looking much better now. He may even live to see that title handed off to another.
joe_doufu on January 20, 2009 at 5:28 PM
So much for Southern grace and charm, Jimmy.
SouthernGent on January 20, 2009 at 5:29 PM
Let’s cut Jimmah Cawtah a little slack. Maybe he was still peeved that Billy Jeff messed around with Monica in the very bathroom where he always hung his favorite swettah.
TXUS on January 20, 2009 at 5:31 PM
Hillary: “I’ll get you, my pretty, and your little dog, too,”.
localmalcontent on January 20, 2009 at 5:33 PM
Burn.
NeoKong on January 20, 2009 at 5:33 PM
Carter favors the Shia, the Clintons favor the Sunni?
BL@KBIRD on January 20, 2009 at 5:33 PM
The Onion weighs in on Hillary from earlier.
JammieWearingFool on January 20, 2009 at 5:33 PM
Holy Molely, do you realize who Dick Cheney really is?
Mr. Joe on January 20, 2009 at 5:33 PM
Carter hands down.
Oh, I’ve got to hear this!
baldilocks on January 20, 2009 at 5:34 PM
Unlike the Bush years, the Carter years actually did make us suffer. We didn’t have hipsters wasting their lives buying numerous electronic products and whining about not getting a job that utilizes their PHDs in Gay Studies.
Speedwagon82 on January 20, 2009 at 5:46 PM
It looked mutual to me too.
So glad the liberals are teaching us all to be loving and kind.
Gina on January 20, 2009 at 5:48 PM
Jimmy Carter. He is consistant. Still a big loser after all these years. Even his houses for humanity that he built are falling apart. What an ending for an old peanut farmer like him. Snubbed by his peers from his own party.
kanda on January 20, 2009 at 5:51 PM
I heard it! Heh.
baldilocks on January 20, 2009 at 5:51 PM
Obama should have put her in charge of NASA. Those laser beams could function as a hemispheric missile shield.
shaken on January 20, 2009 at 5:52 PM
Gotta side with the Clintons on this one. Carter has always been a sanctimonious, self-righteous, little jerk.
But it is fun to see the Dims dissing their own.
AZCoyote on January 20, 2009 at 5:56 PM
Petty, at the inauguration of a President, and we have these guys pulling school yard antics…just shake the freakin hand and move on, nothing was gained by your “snub” Carter, nothing…except that you are petty and you think your personal feelings mean anything to the nation.
right2bright on January 20, 2009 at 5:56 PM
I don’t have a dog in this fight…I wish Billary and Peanut would strangle each other..win-win.
AUINSC on January 20, 2009 at 5:58 PM
Haters, takes one to know one.
Good clip for a title contest.
Hillary: doddering old bastard.
Bill: stay out of the way you doddering old bastard.
Speakup on January 20, 2009 at 6:00 PM
haha, I needed a good laugh!!
Richard Romano on January 20, 2009 at 6:03 PM
Could be, but did you see the reaction on Hillary’s face? Looks like she was somewhat taken aback.
Oldnuke on January 20, 2009 at 6:04 PM
It’s scary to think that over the past 8 years, Hillary has, by default, become the most tolerable person on the Dem. side of the isle.
phreshone on January 20, 2009 at 6:07 PM
So what’s going on with them? I wasn’t aware of any kind of rift between Carter and Clinton.
clearbluesky on January 20, 2009 at 6:07 PM
I heard they’ve never liked each other goes back to 1980 when Bill lost re-election for governor he was pretty vocal about blaming Jimmy, Then when he was President he was miffed that Jimmy was critical on his foreign policy & he thought he was trying to under cut him.
borg on January 20, 2009 at 6:16 PM
Oh, yes. Carter used to call Clinton up and give him advice, whether it was wanted or not. Finally Clinton didn’t take the calls.
When Clinton was working on preliminary negotiations with the North Koreans, Kim shrewdly and publicly announced that he was sure Carter could help out. Without consulting Clinton, Carter said yes, flew off to North Korea and came back with an “agreement,” not exactly to Clinton’s liking, but he was pretty much stuck with it.
Wethal on January 20, 2009 at 6:17 PM
Watch Barbara look down the hall at them, she probably picked up on the snub too. I see that SHE didn’t diss the Clintons.
reshas1 on January 20, 2009 at 6:17 PM
HAR!
5u93rm4n on January 20, 2009 at 6:18 PM
oh my.
ericdijon on January 20, 2009 at 6:20 PM
Barbara has more class than that. However, Clinton and Bush I are pretty good friends.
baldilocks on January 20, 2009 at 6:23 PM
Maybe Clinton made some smart-aleck crack to Carter about all those Habitat for Humanity homes Carter helped build all starting to fall apart.
pilamaye on January 20, 2009 at 6:26 PM
…and when he only “cheated in his heart”.
baldi, yes, and the older Bushs are also friends with the Carters. Classy.
Submitted for QoD.
Entelechy on January 20, 2009 at 6:27 PM
You’d think they’d be experts at pretending when the cameras are on. I guess Bill is only experienced at faking emotions at funerals.
mankai on January 20, 2009 at 6:27 PM
I saw him kiss Barbara, but did he also snub Bush 41?
mikeyboss on January 20, 2009 at 6:35 PM
How much of a dick do you have to be before Bill Clinton can’t pretend to tolerate you?
Jim Treacher on January 20, 2009 at 6:37 PM
No Bill bear hugged Bush 41, The Bush’s treat Bill like a son they are very close.
borg on January 20, 2009 at 6:44 PM
So who is the ugliest – Chelsea or Amy?
Wally on January 20, 2009 at 6:45 PM
I think Chelsea is cute!
mikeyboss on January 20, 2009 at 6:47 PM
Bush 41 to Clinton: “What an amazingly horrid little weasel. Bar will be wiping that smooch off her face with Lava soap.”
Buford Gooch on January 20, 2009 at 6:48 PM
Chelsea has blossomed and is actually attractive. Amy is where the term troll came from. You couldn’t expect anything attractive to have come from those two?
I actually believe the carter explanation about the incident. It’s kind of like the Bush at the G9(?) meeting supposed snub. they were just with each other so they don’t have to talk. Although hillary did give them a wierd look as they went by.
peacenprosperity on January 20, 2009 at 6:55 PM
I guess the body language in this photo was no accident
In all fairness to Jimmah, who knows where Clinton’s appendages have been?
greggriffith on January 20, 2009 at 6:55 PM
Ahh, thanks, i didn’t know that.
clearbluesky on January 20, 2009 at 7:02 PM
pilamaye-
Are you Lakota? You should have some first-hand knowledge of those homes.
WaltDakota on January 20, 2009 at 7:03 PM
I feel all Hopey and Changey.
The Ugly American on January 20, 2009 at 7:07 PM
Chelsea’s alright, man. And you know she’s got daddy issues. Chelsea’s alright.
Jim Treacher on January 20, 2009 at 7:11 PM
Maybe Obambi can bring some unity between those two. Shouldn’t take more than a couple of years.
Hog Wild on January 20, 2009 at 7:17 PM
In a geeky sort of way, she turned out alright for having Janet Reno as her father.
mr.blacksheep on January 20, 2009 at 7:27 PM
Everyone here knows Jimmy is nearly retarded with senility; he probably never saw them.
Jaibones on January 20, 2009 at 7:34 PM
American politics has become a reality show… “The House”.
RalphyBoy on January 20, 2009 at 7:49 PM
No, I think Clinton actually used Carter. The Chinese had Clinton over a barrel on illegal foreign campaign contributions and sales of technology, and used that to blackmail him into allowing the NorKs to have a toothless treaty. Easy way for Clinton to do that is if the NorKs mention Carter, and the Jimmah rushes over there, probably with White House assurances that “we can’t be seen to be supporting you”, etc.. Then after the old fool quite predictably gives away the store, Clenis shrugs his shoulders and says “what could I do?”
No, I am not defending Carter, just pointing out that when you have things to hide, senile old closet-leftist biddies like Mr. Peanut can come in mighty handy.
Democrats, God love ‘em.
drunyan8315 on January 20, 2009 at 7:54 PM
I notice Cahtuh is carrying a pair of shoes as he walks in. No doubt he’s just come from one of those throw-your- shoes demonstrations–a farewell to Bush, one president to another?
smellthecoffee on January 20, 2009 at 8:02 PM
It’s a good thing firearms are not allowed in the Capitol building. If they were, one false move and it would have been the south’s version of the O.K. Corral.
Tin Lizzy on January 20, 2009 at 8:05 PM
Reminds me of the Luncheon of The 5
DoctorsPresidents. Bill kept moving away from Carter and the photogs didn’t even seam to mind that Jimmy was out of the shot.P.S.
It was worth it.
MirCat on January 20, 2009 at 8:06 PM
It is amazing how everyone on this right-leaning blog (myself included) instinctively sides with the Clintons over the Carters.
NCC on January 20, 2009 at 8:16 PM
Not really amazing. Clinton has a personality and is not, as far as I know, an anti-Semite.
baldilocks on January 20, 2009 at 8:21 PM
I’m stumped. I don’t know with whom to side.
hadsil on January 20, 2009 at 8:51 PM
Meh. I’m sure there is a back story. Remember the story about Bush being snubbed by international leaders and it turned out they already had shaken hands. Maybe Carter had just shaken hands with them. Funny how the peeps make a fuss over stuff that’s silly.
