The Obamas and The Bushes are the starkest difference in class I have ever seen. George and Laura were gracious, respectful and happy to welcome the Jeffersons/Obamas. In turn, Obama slams him in his speech and now has a website slamming Bush on his Katrina reaction. What has the cat dragged into the White House?

Obama’s either cynical or incredibly naive. At least Pres Bush was honest. Bush went the extra mile to bring in our allies only to have them stab us in the back (France and Germany this means you in 2002-2004). I think the safety quote was some sort of liberal paraphrase of Benjamin Franklin as morphed by HuffPo. We didn’t trade our ideals for our safety but somehow after eight years we haven’t been attacked again and AQ has been decimated. France and Germany have pro Bush governments, and our government is more liberal than even Spain or Belgium now, whereas Old Europe is more conservative than the incoming government.
It’s a pedestrian speech, and the world will little remember the actual words spoken by Obama.

For the last 3 years this guy has been spending every waking hour telling as many people as he could that Al Qaeda in Iraq could not be defeated, that we can’t win and must withdraw as fast as humanly possible. The car bombers’ blowing up innocent people was a “civil war” that we should have no part in. Can’t outlast us? They did outlast you Sir!! You were ready “bring the troops home”. Why is it that safety isn’t one of our ideals? I have a feeling that Barack’s ideals are a bit different than mine.

If protecting the “rights” of a terrorist at the expense of our safety is an ideal he has then I’m sure of it. I have yet to see a demonstration from Barack that he shares any of my ideals.

I thought it was pretty funny that he talked about how politics should not prey on fears and emotions right after saying how horrible it was – but he was there to ‘save us’.

I just wish they didn’t feel a need to mortgage our future. Why 2 trillion? Why not double the debt? If 1 trillion is good, then 10 trillion must be great, right?!

Im sure he was smiling. After all, Obama:

-Now supports warrantless wiretapping
-Is not going to withdraw from Iraq in 16 months
-Kept Sec Def Gates
-Kept the 2 Directors in the CIA who were in charge of interrogation and detention
-Will keep the “torture” option classified and on the table
-Won’t be closing Gitmo any time soon

If there’s change in there, Im not seeing it.
