Inaugural benediction: Pray that “white will embrace what is right”

Didn’t whites just do that by electing Jesus Christ president?

Welcome to the post-racial age. Exit question: Hey, that Rick Warren’s pretty controversial, huh?

People of all colors have been enslaved and been enslavers from the dawn of history to the present day.

None have done more to correct this injustice than caucasians.

Thank a whitey on your way out.

LimeyGeek on January 20, 2009 at 2:09 PM

More than that, whites have built this modern world, including the advances (and being so generous) that have allowed the Earth to now support 7 billion people – most of whom are not white.

You are perfectly right, Limey, blacks (and others) owes whites a great deal. But, gratitude and honesty are not popular notions today. They like grievance, better, the azzwipes.

Ungrateful morons.

Nope. The race “bidness” is a good one to be in. Too sweet to just let it go. Lots of rewards out there for the enterprising capitalist. Books to sell, speeches to give, songs to rap. One just has to know the proper context in which to use the N word.

Oh! It was a historic quote. I guess that makes it alright then. My mistake. Quotes can’t be inappropriate, hurtful and wrong if they are historic.

There’s a difference between something being said by a pundit on your side and something being said by someone that you invited to play a part in your inauguration.

Both might be inappropriate and wrong things to say, but the latter gets an official stamp of approval.

Considering the valedictorian at most high schools have to get their speeches approved before graduation, I’m fairly certain this was either approved or was a shock to the inaugural team.

If it was approved, I want to know why they chose to use a national event to marginalize a good chunk of the population of this country. If it wasn’t, they should clear it up and apologize for not vetting him better and putting him in a position where he could use a national event to marginalize a good chunk of the population of this country.

Just words… like these from His Majesty…

The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works – whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified. Where the answer is yes, we intend to move forward. Where the answer is no, programs will end.

Yeah, like that will happen.

Yowza. What a way to start an administration.

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on January 20, 2009 at 2:20 PM

What racist policies did he enact again?

DeathToMediaHacks on January 20, 2009 at 2:11 PM

Heh. Do you know what I’d give if the Left’s race industry limited their rage to actual racist policies? Conservatives spent this entire election cycle being called racists, and for what? racist policy initiatives? Hardly. We were called racists for such sins as pointing out Obama’s skinniness. So before you, “sigh” at our credulity over a preacher supplicating his desire for whites to do what’s right, and scoff at the idea that anything short of actually enacting racist policies is worthy of offense, do try to keep things in perspective.

Exit question: Hey, that Rick Warren’s pretty controversial, huh?

Excellent note.

As a white man, I’ll try to wake up every morning from now on and not have spite.

Notice how Warren was his normal politically correct self. He slyly tried to appease Christians and all others by using the name Yeshua instead of Jesus. No one was offended.

Maybe you’re not, but there are plenty of people who still insist on calling Obama by his middle name (what point are they trying to make?), and white politicians who push (and then defend!) that stupid “Barack the Magic Negro” stuff. I’m not saying that they’re racists, but they sure do sound like it sometimes.

You don’t see the problem assuming that all whites are racists, and the racism by doing that.

Especially after this election of the most inexperience person ever.

Awful benediction. Why couldn’t the man have simply prayed for the new administration and for our country and left it at that.

Besides, with all of the rhymes, I kept waiting for Jay-Z or Dr. Dre to jump up and rap.

Let me see if I’ve got this right.

We had a disgrace to the clerical collar (Robinson) pray to a “God of many understandings”. We had a Racist slam white folks in the benediction. And we had Rick Warren actually proclaim Christ and recite The Lord’s Prayer in Obama’s Inauguration. And Warren was controversial? Only to the Liberals and the Elitists.

LimeyGeek on January 20, 2009 at 2:09 PM

How can people be this ignorant. We all know that systems of slavery have existed in most modern societies. But what white folks were particularly good at was inventing ideologies of racial difference. For example, in Sub-saharan African societies slaves were POWs, but slavery was not hereditary. Individuals were not born into slavery as they were in Anglo regimes. Which is why even when slavery ended in America racist ideology still determined which individuals would be recognized by the state as citizens and which individuals would be recognized as human by the majority. Lincoln fought to keep the union together, but also argued that African people could never be full citizens or integrated into American society. He was a big fan of a mass exportation. Whites since him until very recently (and really on a individual basis) have fought tooth and nail to hold onto racial ideologies which claim there is some fundamental difference between whites and non-whites. Obama’s presidency has done alot to undo that but even still he didn’t get a majority of the white vote, he just demonstrates the rapid decline of the white majority in terms of demographics. And thank goodness for it, white majorities gave us 30 years of “free market” ideology foolishness and reinstituted an economic system based on speculative booms and busts. It just might take a black dude and a little injection of marxism to get things back on track. Thanks President Obama!

White Guilt Is Dead
Free at last, free at last!
By Tom Adkins
Editor’s note: This originally appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Look at my fellow conservatives! There they go, glumly shuffling along, depressed by the election aftermath. Not me. I’m virtually euphoric.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not thrilled with America’s flirtation with neo-socialism.. But there’s a massive silver lining in those magical clouds that lofted Barack Obama to the Presidency. For today, without a shred of intellectually legitimate opposition, I can loudly proclaim to America: The Era of White Guilt is over.
This seemingly impossible event occurred because the vast majority of white Americans didn’t give a fluff about skin color, and enthusiastically pulled the voting lever for a black man. Not just any black man. A very liberal black man who spent his early career race-hustling banks, praying in a racist church for 20 years, and actively worked with America-hating domestic terrorists. Wow! Some resume! Yet they made Barack Obama their leader. Therefore, as of November 4th, 2008, white guilt is dead.
For over a century, the millstone of white guilt hung around our necks, retribution for slave-owning predecessors. In the 60s, American liberals began yanking that millstone while sticking a fork in the eye of black Americans, exacerbating the racial divide to extort a socialist solution. But if a black man can become President, exactly what significant barrier is left? The election of Barack Obama absolutely destroys the entire validation of liberal white guilt. The dragon is hereby slain.
So today, I’m feeling a little “uppity,” if you will. From this day forward, my tolerance level for having my skin color hustled is now exactly ZERO. And it’s time to clean house. No more Reverend Wright’s “God Damn America,” Al Sharpton’s Church of Perpetual Victimization, or Jesse Jackson’s rainbow racism. Cornell West? You’re a fraud. Go home. All those “black studies” programs that taught kids to hate whitey? You must now thank Whitey. And I want that on the final.
Congressional Black Caucus? Irrelevant. Maxine Waters? Shut up. ACORN? Outlawed. Black Panthers? Go home and pet your kitty. Black separatists? Find another nation that offers better dreams. Go ahead. I’m waiting.
Gangsta rappers? Start praising America. Begin with the Pledge of Allegiance. And please, no more ebonics. Speak English, and who knows where you might end up? Oh, yeah, pull up your pants. Your underwear is showing. You look stupid.
Black Fraternities? Seek diversity. Race card? It’s now the joker. Miss Black America? Get in line with all the other lovely ladies. Reparations? Paid.
To those Eurosnots who forged entire careers hating America? I’m still waiting for the first black French President.
And let me offer an equal opportunity whupping. I’ve always despised lazy white people. Now, I can talk smack about lazy black people. You’re poor because you quit school, did drugs, had three kids with three different fathers, and refuse to work. So when you plop your Colt 45-swilling, Oprah watchin’ butt on the couch and complain “Da Man is keepin’ me down,” allow me to inform you: Da Man is now black. You have no excuses.
No more quotas. No more handouts. No more stealing my money because someone’s great-great-great-great grandparents suffered actual pain and misery at the hands of people I have no relation to, and personally revile.
It’s time to toss that massive, obsolete race-hustle machine upon the heap of the other stupid 60s ideas. Drag it over there, by wife swapping, next to dope-smoking. Plenty of room right between free love and cop-killing. Careful, don’t trip on streaking. There ya go, don’t be gentle. Just dump it. Wash your hands. It’s filthy.
In fact, Obama’s ascension created a gargantuan irony. How can you sell class envy and American unfairness when you and your black wife went to Ivy League schools, got high-paying jobs, became millionaires, bought a mansion, and got elected President? How unfair is that??? Now, Like a delicious O’Henry tale, Obama’s spread-the-wealth campaign rendered itself moot by it’s own victory! America is officially a meritocracy. Obama’s election has validated American conservatism!
So, listen carefully…Wham!!!
That’s the sound of my foot kicking the door shut on the era of white guilt. The rites have been muttered, the carcass lowered, dirt shoveled, and tombstone erected. White guilt is dead and buried.
However, despite my glee, there’s apparently one small, rabid bastion of American racism remaining. Black Americans voted 96% for Barack Obama. Hmmm. In a color-blind world, shouldn’t that be 50-50? Tonight, every black person should ask forgiveness for their apparent racism and prejudice towards white people. Maybe it’s time to start spreading the guilt around.

The one drawback for the race-baiters is that Obama’s black father came from Kenya in the latter half of the Twentieth Century. Can’t use the Obama family for the “Up from Slavery” argument for reparations.

Or is he perhaps being misinterpreted, and is just talking about the political right?

I notice that Noneya, the parakeet who customarily warns everyone else in the mine about racism, seems notably absent this fine morning? Perhaps she’s lying stunned at the bottom of the cage?

unclesmrgol on January 20, 2009 at 2:26 PM

now time to start the moderates that voted for Obama to move away.

jp on January 20, 2009 at 2:27 PM

But they don’t call him Hussein because of his color. If he were a white leftist with the same middle name they’d be doing the same thing.

I can’t speak for everyone’s intentions, but if people don’t want to be labeled racists, they should stop acting like them. Addressing Obama as “Hussein” makes them sound like a bunch of racists. Obama is an American Christian, and harping on his middle name serves no purpose other than making reference to his ethnic background.

The “Magic Negro” is actually from an article, written by a black leftist discussing why Obama is considered so acceptable to white people. The article itself is inherently racist but is accepted as intellectual analysis. But when somebody puts the text to music and satirizes it to point out the hypocrisy of it… they’re racist?

Skywise on January 20, 2009 at 2:10 PM

I’m referring to Chip Saltsman, who is an idiot, and who – alog with Katon Dawson – has given the race for RNC Chair a hefty dose of racial politics that it didn’t need.

That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen.

….and he got away with that! …. The old fool has waited a lifetime to make a cut like that. It must be hell to live a life as angry as he obviously has.

Hey Hack,

Limey has a point. There have been slaves and slaveholders of all colors throughout history. It has only been since the Anglo folks that it has been fought against and abolished. It didn’t happen overnight; the founding fathers agonized over slavery, Lincoln didn’t get it at first, even some of the Dems today with their benevolent enslavement of the welfare class don’t get it. Incrementalism is the key; all liberals know that.

Before the founding of the US, people did not have any inalienable rights. It took Christian ideals paired with the Magna Carta to blossom into what we are supposed to have today: FREEDOM!

Laura in Maryland on January 20, 2009 at 2:34 PM

But people just use it to reference his ethnic background.

Not his “ethnic background”. The moron was raised in Indonesia, a muslim country. He had a muslim father and a muslim stepfather. His middle name indicates his upraising, that he tries so hard to deny and hide.

Don’t expect to pull something like that off without people thinking you’re a racist.

There are an awful lot of people out there who voted for Obama thinking we could get past exactly the kind of 1960′s racial rhetoric Lowry just spit out. Did they not review his speech beforehand?

Mr A on January 20, 2009 at 2:36 PM

I reject this reverse racism crap. I want to see Matthews and all these stupid Lilly white liberals take that on!!!!

worlok on January 20, 2009 at 2:36 PM

But people just use it to reference his ethnic background. Don’t expect to pull something like that off without people thinking you’re a racist.

Big S on January 20, 2009 at 2:32 PM

So… since “The One” used his middle name today, does that mean he is a racist, too? You liberals really make me laugh.

BoomJunkie on January 20, 2009 at 2:36 PM

I have to laugh at all the stupid white people who got mr o elected. They got a nice slap in the face for it on the very first day. It does not matter because they are too stupid to realize what happened.

I can explain that. They all think he’s talking about all those OTHER white folks, not enlightened them. Cause see, they are better.

Alana on January 20, 2009 at 2:37 PM

Limey has a point. There have been slaves and slaveholders of all colors throughout history.

In this country, former enslavement of blacks by white Americans is the issue. That was what Lowery was talking about. I’m not saying that I agree with all of his views or solutions, but your comment basically reads as “don’t blame us, everybody was doing it!”

Big S on January 20, 2009 at 2:37 PM

Hey – Norman, Celt, Norse, Goth, Melungeon and Cherokee here!
Direct ancestor in America in 1646 – never owned anybody, either.

Wyatt Wingfoot on January 20, 2009 at 2:37 PM

Was that the most gentle “kill whitey” or was that the most gentle “whitey’s got to pay”?

BL@KBIRD on January 20, 2009 at 2:38 PM

Didn’t this eh, person, speak at the MLK tribute last year and stir controversy? Didn’t he say something awful about Bush, while Bush was sitting there?

beththebaker on January 20, 2009 at 2:38 PM

It stopped being a prayer about a third of the way into it.

Well, they really can’t because Barry is the only ‘black’ guy they know.

Apparently, Byrd has had a seizure at the luncheon and they’ve rushed him to the hospital.

BallisticBob on January 20, 2009 at 2:40 PM

Well, that sure excludes embracing Barry, ’cause he sure ain’t right.

Now that obama is president, the word “change” now enters my lexicon. I want change. It is clear to me that we are suffering from obama’s failed policies.

CHANGE!

keep the change on January 20, 2009 at 2:40 PM

Die, white devils, die! That includes you schoolkids, too. You’re the spawn of an evil race! The president’s spokesman says so. America don’t need the cracker race!

Django on January 20, 2009 at 2:41 PM

I’m a boring Christian – I don’t ever recall a “prayer” that had rhymes and racist jokes that people laughed at.

I’m white and NONE of my ancestors owned slaves. As a matter of fact I have a distant Irish relative who fought for the UNION ARMY.

worlok on January 20, 2009 at 2:41 PM

So, reverend wright was actually a pretty good indicator of things to come. I wonder when we’ll find out that bill ayers was a valid campaign issue as well.

Ronnie on January 20, 2009 at 2:42 PM

Hey-just overheard in our school office the history teacher gave 2 HS boys detention bcs they said “now that we have a black president, we are going to be saved”.
Unreal.

Freed blacks in the US held black slaves in higher percentages than white people. Learn some history.

Today, slavery still exists, formally, only in black Africa and in the muslim world. Interestingly, these are two groups that American blacks love to praise. Learn some facts about today’s world.

progressoverpeace on January 20, 2009 at 2:43 PM

The worst part about the next 4 years is having to watch people pretend Michelle Obama is some supermodel.

Speedwagon82 on January 20, 2009 at 2:25 PM

Perhaps for a little while, but someone, somewhere wil write somthing vaguely critical, generating harsh editorial reprimands, which wil in turn create a harsh rebuttal to the reprimand, and off we go. I hope Maureen Dowd kicks it off,….. an editorial face off between she and someone like Kathleen Parker, over a Michelle clothing issue, would be delightful.

a capella on January 20, 2009 at 2:43 PM

What? Did nancy pelosi just say “you are free to cheer the American flag?”

???????

Alana on January 20, 2009 at 2:43 PM

I’d say what “white” (not to mention “brown,” “yellow,” and even “black”) should pray for instead is to not have the epithet “racist” screamed every time a criticism is raised about one of President Obama’s policies for the next four years. However, I don’t expect those prayers will go answered. Expect to hear the “R” word thrown about more than you ever have in your life.

By the way, have we had a ginger president yet?

Blacklake on January 20, 2009 at 2:43 PM

Addressing Obama as “Hussein” makes them sound like a bunch of racists.

Among the Kenyan Luo, a person has a surname and (sometimes) a patronymic. Our new president’s surname is Hussein and his patronymic is Obama; it is customary to call one by his/her surname.

Obama is an American Christian, and harping on his middle name serves no purpose other than making reference to his ethnic background.

Big S on January 20, 2009 at 2:27 PM

What does being a Christian have to do with calling a person by his/her given name? I was not aware that Christians had to stop using their names indicating ethnicity.

Oh and, by the way, calling him Barack Obama calls attention to his ethnic background!

Sheesh. Please think and gain some knowledge of your topic before commenting.
