Inaugural benediction: Pray that “white will embrace what is right”
posted at 1:55 pm on January 20, 2009 by Allahpundit
Didn’t whites just do that by electing Jesus Christ president?
Welcome to the post-racial age. Exit question: Hey, that Rick Warren’s pretty controversial, huh?

Am I allowed to be offended?
KelliD on January 20, 2009 at 1:57 PM
We are no longer racist. We elected a half black President who surrounded himself with black goons to make himself look authentic. So stop whining.
Speedwagon82 on January 20, 2009 at 1:57 PM
Biggest public declaration of racist beliefs since Al Campanis.
playblu on January 20, 2009 at 1:57 PM
The race hustlers will never stop, even if every single person of power in the government is African-American. It’s their livelihood.
Jim62sch on January 20, 2009 at 1:58 PM
Nothing like being called racist by a racist.
Hopey Changey?
Nopey.
fogw on January 20, 2009 at 1:58 PM
No – he’s gonna embrace what’s left.

KelliD – if you are white – you cannot, because you’re wrong.
– Garcon, another memo for KelliD!
kybowexar on January 20, 2009 at 1:58 PM
I’ve never judged anyone by their color in my life.
I haven’t held a black man down.
I haven’t made someone sit in the back of the bus.
I haven’t stolen someone’s land, family, dreams, etc.
I am SICK AND TIRED of it being alright to make blanket statements about white people as if it’s just generally accepted that they’re the scum of the earth.
It is completely inappropriate to have that in any prayer, much less a prayer at an inauguration that is supposed to be about how “We’re all one”.
JadeNYU on January 20, 2009 at 1:58 PM
I wonder how well a benediction would’ve gone if a white protestant priest, in any political persuasion, had said “and black should embrace what is right”.
Skywise on January 20, 2009 at 1:58 PM
Can I sue someone for racisit comments yet?
When will the Government Office Of Objectional Speech be open?

My jaw dropped in disgust when I heard that live. I did not relaize I was a racist. It is good to know my unkown faults will be illuminated to me during the age of Obama.

katiejane on January 20, 2009 at 1:59 PM
As a white, it’s more offensive that pr!ck said “red man” and “yella.” That bigotry is on YOU, Barry.
Christien on January 20, 2009 at 1:59 PM
As I said in the previous thread, that benediction was the moment I got off the fence and declared: NOT MY PRESIDENT!
I’m still steamed. What a national disgrace.
Anton on January 20, 2009 at 1:59 PM
Well I am a “typical white person”.

jukin on January 20, 2009 at 2:00 PM
One more thing: FU Obama. I know you and your transition team pre-approved that benediction. You just threw bipartisanship and “healing” out the window.
Anton on January 20, 2009 at 2:01 PM
I guess I’m off to be, um, “reeducated.”
KelliD on January 20, 2009 at 2:01 PM
The whole poem and demented benediction after the Messiah’s speech was sorta WTF inducing.
Sugar Land on January 20, 2009 at 2:01 PM
Yes, but that is not enough, apparently. The white devil must also keep his mouth shut and fall in line…or else he won’t be embracing ‘what is right’…which would be racist!
AUINSC on January 20, 2009 at 2:01 PM
Don’t you know? All whites ARE racist, now by definition. In case there’s any lingering confusion, the One will be signing an executive order later this afternoon proclaiming such.
Darksean on January 20, 2009 at 2:01 PM
No, but if you’re white, you assume guilt for all past wrongful acts by whites against non-whites. This does not apply to non-whites.
Wethal on January 20, 2009 at 2:01 PM
This just in, Ha Ha.
juanito on January 20, 2009 at 2:02 PM
*sigh* You guys are all spelling it wrong. That’s the problem. I’m sure that if you look at his notes you’ll see that it says “…whites will embrace. What is Wright?”
Think Jeopardy, I’ll take “Things that won’t bloody happen” for $1,000, please.
Shawn_NH on January 20, 2009 at 2:02 PM
In this new “post racial” era it’s amazing that you crackers are complaining.

This marks the last time the civil rights leaders of yesterday can play the “race card” against whites (or in Star Trek lingo, “pink skins”).
We are now sexists (holding women to a different and higher standard than men) not racists.
Sweetness0726 on January 20, 2009 at 2:04 PM

Bruno Strozek on January 20, 2009 at 2:04 PM
This is crap. We’ve accomplished all of this in our country. What is he talking about? Why is it that some want to continue to tear down our country instead of admitting what we’ve accomplished?
I mean, after all, who just got inaugurated?

I was white at one time. Then I renewed my DL in my home stste of Alabama, and didn’t notice that they put an H in for race. Two years later I asked what the H was for, and they said I was now termed as Haspanic. And I’m Native American. go figure.

Racism and bigotry accepted by the media.
Move along, nothing to see here.

I don’t suffer from white guilt.

annoyinglittletwerp on January 20, 2009 at 2:05 PM
Maybe you’re not, but there are plenty of people who still insist on calling Obama by his middle name (what point are they trying to make?), and white politicians who push (and then defend!) that stupid “Barack the Magic Negro” stuff. I’m not saying that they’re racists, but they sure do sound like it sometimes.
Big S on January 20, 2009 at 2:05 PM
Poor Rev. Wright. That was supposed to be his gig.
“Pray that your white-ies aren’t too tight-y?” WTF was that?
Nat Hound on January 20, 2009 at 2:06 PM
I want to see reparations paid by the descendants of those blacks that enslaved the blacks to sell them to whites.
Or will history be artfully edited to envision Jefferson et al skipping around Africa with giant man-sized butterfly nets, bagging negroes left, right & center?
LimeyGeek on January 20, 2009 at 2:06 PM
pthphtpht… I’m black on the left side and white on the right my race will not be denied.
(nor will my race as an ugly bag of water either!)
Skywise on January 20, 2009 at 2:06 PM
Being called a racist by the far left Obamatron loonies, is definitely a badge of honor. This guy should be first in line for his Freedom of Speech Award. Doesn’t the left always give those awards to the most asinine comments.

Oh….that must be where things got confused.
The only things I assume guilt for are things that I directly contributed to or things that I could have alleviated but made a conscious decision not to.
Everything else is on the people responsible for it.
JadeNYU on January 20, 2009 at 2:08 PM

Anyway, none of these protests are helping MO’s children, so shaddup.
On a serious note folks, it’s time to speak up about this. Write to Barry and let him no that this crap is unacceptable.

Why don’t the Chinese have a white premier? How about Nigeria, why won’t they elect whites into power?

But they don’t call him Hussein because of his color. If he were a white leftist with the same middle name they’d be doing the same thing.
The “Magic Negro” is actually from an article, written by a black leftist discussing why Obama is considered so acceptable to white people. The article itself is inherently racist but is accepted as intellectual analysis. But when somebody puts the text to music and satirizes it to point out the hypocrisy of it… they’re racist?
Skywise on January 20, 2009 at 2:10 PM

“We

Sorry Jesse Jackson & Al Sharpton. You are out of business.
portlandon on January 20, 2009 at 2:10 PM
*sigh* Lowry just showed out and demonstrated folks ignorance. First the whole speech were a series of sly cues to the Civil Rights Movement. The opening phrases were lyrics from the Black National Anthem, Life Ev’ry Voice and Sing. And the final quote “brown will stick around, red man can get ahead man etc.” is a famous Malcolm X quote. I also think it’s a little hilarious that conservatives get incredibly upset when they feel someone is playing the PC card when a conservative does something offensive. Like trying to smear Obama because his middle name happens to be Hussein. But then are the most scandalized and victimized over one line in a Benediction. What racist policies did he enact again?
DeathToMediaHacks on January 20, 2009 at 2:11 PM

Hm, that’s just the point. Everyone goes off on that “Magic Negro” stuff but they looked the other way for the far-more explicit Rev. Wright and I’m sure they’ll do the same for this prayer. In the truly post-racial world, turnabout would be fair play.
