He used to pal around with terrorists but now he’s palling around with America! Five minutes of highlights from tonight’s Glenn Beck debut placing the ‘Cuda in the accommodationist camp with Tim Pawlenty and, presumably, any other governor who might need a bailout or two down the line. Note how she turns a question about Obama into an opportunity to plug people who don’t attend elite schools or have a title after their names. All part of the hockey mom/common man appeal, which Beck sets her up for a second time later with the question about Wendy’s.
Consider this a companion piece to this morning’s NYT story about Maverick becoming The One’s newest informal advisor. Commenters sneered at it in Headlines — surely we’re not about to trust the New York Times now, even though they’ve got Rahm Emanuel talking about this on the record — but CNN has sources in McCain’s own camp confirming the detail about Dennis Blair, at least. And on that note, here’s your photo of the day.

Anybody else miss John Gibson? I do.
moonsbreath on January 20, 2009 at 9:17 AM
Gibby is on Fox News Radio from 12-3 pm. Gives you a good alternative to Rush who’s gotten too full of himself.
Percy_Peabody on January 20, 2009 at 9:25 AM
The interview was very good. Sarah was simply being classy. It’s a lost art form in America. The points she and Glenn made about the Beltway Elitists were priceless. Being the father of a special young lady, I almost started crying when Glenn did. Sarah comes across as one of us and the Beltway Elite and Liberals can’t stand it.
kingsjester on January 20, 2009 at 9:30 AM
I’m not where I can view the video right now, but judging by the comments I need to ask-
Did she whine about the media/unfairness? Doesn’t sound like it from comments here. Looks like she’s moving on to energy/fiscal policy, right?
cs89 on January 20, 2009 at 10:03 AM
I saw the inteview. It was far from “go along-get along.”
If she said anything other than what she did, the MSM would have had a heyday.
With many months to prepare, she’s going to be a formidable opponent in the 2012 election. One of the better things she can do right now if fly under the MSM radar which is what she did last night.
I believe she has solid conservative roots and won’t be sucked up into the Osamabamabiden vacuum.
davidk on January 20, 2009 at 10:11 AM
I think from now on, I’ll just by-pass anything with Allapundit’s name on it.
thebronze on January 20, 2009 at 10:21 AM
I only made it to 2:45. I’ve heard quite enough from Palin.
progressoverpeace on January 19, 2009 at 8:16 PM
Progressive, eh? (IE liberal leftist bot.. :) ) Allergic to good common sense I take it?
Noelie on January 20, 2009 at 10:52 AM
Okay, now that I’ve watched this clip- how exactly did Palin saying she would work with Obama, but would disagree with his policies as needed (citing disagreement on energy policy in this very clip) make her an “accomodationist?” Beck talked about not being like the BDS sufferers, but opposing policies, and Palin was nodding along and says “absolutely.”
AP, I’m calling a flag on this play. Out of bounds/unfair characterization of content.
cs89 on January 20, 2009 at 11:03 AM
It’s so nice to see so many comments here refuting the incorrect, sneering summary of this interview, and defending Sarah Palin.
wise_man on January 20, 2009 at 11:17 AM
Anybody else notice how optimistic and sincere that both Kurt Warner of the Arizona Cardinals and Sarah Palin sound when they speak and how well- spoken they are in affirming their convictions (with Kurt-football and Sarah-politics). Wonder if it has anything to do with the their humble profession of their Christian faith and their devout belief in the awesome power of God.
technopeasant on January 20, 2009 at 11:37 AM
Another 500 comment Sarah thread and on Inauguration day when the focus should be on Obama and his coronation. Wow!
technopeasant on January 20, 2009 at 11:38 AM
Maybe someone should tell AP we’ll still discuss Palin, and argue with each other, even if his posts are more objective/less snarky.
cs89 on January 20, 2009 at 11:41 AM
Quite honestly I don’t care what AP thinks about Sarah or her politics. It’s like when a football game goes into OT and the team that you hate forces the OT with a late FG. You favorite team gets more exposure (to yourself)and still has a chance to prevail. AP, you could be worst Palin-hater alive, but if you continue to post Palin threads I will not bear you any ill will. Keep it coming. We Palin supporters cannot get enough. And if the threads cause more Republicans to jump on the Sarah bandwagon-fantastic!
technopeasant on January 20, 2009 at 11:47 AM
Palin – 2012
I watched as well as taped the interview with Beck. His new show will be terrific, obviously and Palin was simply wonderful.
Onager on January 20, 2009 at 11:59 AM
Palin did just fine on Beck show
Done That on January 20, 2009 at 12:00 PM
While I have little hope for good things to come from Obama the people who think Gov Palin should have ripped him a new one right now either are already far into ODS or lack the class she showed.
It’s sad to read juvenile snarks about Palin on a basically conservative site – if I was interested in that I could be reading at Huff Po.
katiejane on January 20, 2009 at 12:13 PM
This is how Sarah Palin views the world, with hope and optimism. Go Sarah!
littleguy on January 20, 2009 at 1:17 PM
I think from now on, I’ll just by-pass anything with Allapundit’s name on it.
I second that.
apoole on January 20, 2009 at 1:30 PM
NO SOUP FOR YOU!
wise_man on January 20, 2009 at 1:33 PM
littleguy, substitute “Obama” for “Palin” and you sound exactly like an Obamatron. Great analysis though…riveting stuff.
dakine on January 20, 2009 at 1:46 PM
Palin said she would work for the nation during Obama’s administration. I would assume that, if Palin believed that the Obama administration were at cross purposes with her ideas “for the nation”, she would oppose Obama.
But she has to stay classy now. It’s hard to criticize a President who hasn’t done anything in his first hour in office except make a speech, and that’s what they all do. She’s keeping her powder dry for now (to avoid being accused of sour grapes over losing the election), but will probably speak up as soon as Obama DOES something she opposes.
But since Obama has never really DONE much of anything, Palin might have to remain silent for a long time!
Steve Z on January 20, 2009 at 1:47 PM
“Her” pipeline is actually a joint project between an oil company, a private pipeline company, the Canadian Government, and the Alaska State Government. It is designed to connect gas fields off the Alaskan North Shore to the existing Trans-Canada pipeline. The negotiations were complete long before there was any talk of an “infrastructure stimulus plan”, so it can reasonably be assumed that all needed public and private funding had been secured prior to signing the contract.
Besides, Sarah Palin couldn’t divert any “stimulus” money for “infrastructure” in Canada, could she? Wouldn’t that need approval from the Canadian government?
Steve Z on January 20, 2009 at 1:56 PM
Maybe a little OT, but Sarah Palin looks much better, especially more natural, letting her hair drape over her shoulders, than done up in a bun as she was at the GOP convention. She might have looked better at the debate without having to frequently shake her bangs out of her eyes. Let your hair down, Sarah, in every sense of the words!
Steve Z on January 20, 2009 at 2:08 PM
just imagine 4 or 8 years from now today could be Sarah’s inauguration. We need to make it happen

the_nile on January 20, 2009 at 2:39 PM
Please, excuse me. Did your mommy spank you just now or something? So she’s optimistic and pleasant, something you aren’t. You have a problem with that?
littleguy on January 20, 2009 at 2:44 PM
No littleguy. My problem is with ignorant tools such as yourself passing themselves off as conservatives.
dakine on January 20, 2009 at 3:06 PM
Mocka Mocka! Hubba Hubba! I speak Alaskan:)
Dr Evil on January 20, 2009 at 3:58 PM
Yep, mommy definitely swatted your nappy. I never claimed to be a conservative, genius, and I’ll be an ignorant tool all day long rather than be an ill-tempered, ill-mannered, troll like you. Thank you very much.
littleguy on January 20, 2009 at 4:06 PM
There, there littleguy. There, there. It’s all going to be okay pumpkin.
dakine on January 20, 2009 at 5:46 PM
Why is it so important for you to define conservatism and promote dislike of Gov. Palin? She’s not running for an office and unless you live in Alaska, I doubt anything she does impacts you.
Cindy Munford on January 20, 2009 at 5:56 PM
I hear you to a certain extent Cindy, but I think Palin continuing to have a prominent role in the GOP and the conservative movement would be disastrous. I’m in a distinct minority in a hard right/socially conservative site such as this one, but so be it. Hopefully, she’ll stay in Alaska and continue to have a minimal impact on the rest of the country.
dakine on January 20, 2009 at 6:00 PM
Got that right, sweety. It’s your little booty that your mommy’s lighting up. Palin will be fine, too. One more putz that gets their panties in a knot at the very mention of her name won’t matter a bit.
littleguy on January 20, 2009 at 6:17 PM
May I respectfully suggest that unless you really really like to argue, to no effect I might add, that you hide and watch. Conservatives aren’t stupid, they are not sheep and after this horrible election they are not going to attach themselves to someone who isn’t capable of supporting conservative values. That may or may not be Gov. Palin, who has some growing to do and to debase her when she is a threat to no one seems counter productive, to say the least. And a tad petty I might add.
Cindy Munford on January 20, 2009 at 7:46 PM
A very nice and classy lady indeed.
Hilts on January 20, 2009 at 8:20 PM
You’re just a Moby.
the_nile on January 20, 2009 at 8:41 PM
She got me with the “fat baby w/glasses”. I was about to drop my support for her over her migration to the “green” movement. Now I’ll have to give her one more chance. She’s just got way too many standard GOP talking points coming out of her mouth. She’d best get in touch w/whats happening in the lower 48. Especially in the lower, lower 48. Along the border, etc. She appears totally devoid of any knowledge of the crisis in Mexico and the fact that its spilling over into our own nation. Too much like McCain on that aspect. Darvin Dowdy
Darvin Dowdy on January 20, 2009 at 11:37 PM
I have never heard dakine put forth a conservative argument, but merely attack “other” conservatives for supporting Palin.
chunderroad on January 20, 2009 at 11:57 PM
Kind of OT, but ‘Cuda-related:
Driving down the street today, I happened to notice one of my neighbors had re-installed his McCain/Palin yard sign today, I guess in protest. The amusing part was that the McCain part of the sign had been painted over so the sign simply read “Palin.” Hee!
Palin 2012
NoLeftTurn on January 21, 2009 at 12:01 AM
She never “whined” about media treatment; she complained that her children should be off limits, which goes without saying.
chunderroad on January 21, 2009 at 12:01 AM
the_nile, good one. You must be some kind of genius.
chunder, I’ve never heard you do anything but blindly and embarrassingly praise Palin. You’re not a conservative. You’re a fundamentalist nitwit.
dakine on January 21, 2009 at 1:48 AM
chunderroad on January 21, 2009 at 12:01 AM
I know. That comment was because of the debate in an earlier thread, about the Ziegler interview. I’d earlier stated I didn’t think she was going to “whine,” but would use the opportunity to talk about energy, etc.
When I first saw this post, I wasn’t where I could watch it and scanned the comments. Then watched it later, and continue to be impressed. Glad I voted for her- Mac, not so much.
cs89 on January 21, 2009 at 1:57 AM
Because I am older and a lot of posters have similar names I keep a list of folks who are constantly critical of conservatives so I won’t get them confused. Guess who’s name is on the list. I think this new “a real conservative would (fill in the blank)” is just a new ploy.
Cindy Munford on January 21, 2009 at 6:18 AM
This woman melts my heart. She is absolutely genuine, and I’d take her to Wendy’s any time. At any point when she or her “people” want my campaign contribution, it’s on its way. I know it’s hackneyed, but – “She is US!!” – and you can imagine how well this sort of thinking goes down in Boulder, where I am occasionally from…
jsaturn on January 21, 2009 at 9:27 PM
dakine is the nutter who was following around Baldilocks and insulting her. Creepy.
