Actually, you gave up some of your “rights” when you raised your right hand, and joined the US Military.

Your “rights” are now modified, by the UCMJ, such as the prohibitions against Sodomy, and Adultery, limitations that most Americans no longer are subject too!

Additionally, your Freedom of Speech is limited by the inability to say negative or disrespectful things towards your Seniors in the Military and Civilian Chains of Command!

If you don’t know that, then I’m must plainly amazed by what they teach the new generation.

Your limitations on your Right of Free Speech, include making derogatory remarks about US Senators, US Representatives, Officials in the US Govt, etc.

Frankly, since you are Legally subject to the UCMJ, I find it amazing that you attempt to run a Political-oriented Blog.

It’s not something I would have done, when I was on Active Duty, if you can walk the tightrope, power to you, but I would have never even attempted it.

I wish you luck with it, but I think it is foolish.

Additionally, you serve in a Chain of Command, that means there are people senior to you, and subordinate to you.

What type of example are you setting for those subordinate to you, by airing your personal Political views, and what type of “ammunition”, are you putting on display, for those senior to you, who may happen to personally disagree with your opinions?

Not very wise, frankly, in either case.

Again, it’s your career, do as you wish; me, if I was in your place, I’d not attempt to be so clever and claim you are asserting your Right to Free Speech, when you are clearly goverened by the UCMJ, something which you appear to be either ignorant of, or more foolishly, are just plain willing to ignore.

However, it’s your career, and your life, live it as you wish.

It’s not something I would have done, nor is it something I condone for Active Duty Service Members.

When on Active Duty, we are charged to Serve and Defend the Constitution of the United States, and to obey the orders of those appointed above us.

When I was Active Duty, I took the charge so seriously, I even refused to Vote, so that nothing would color my perceptions of those of a different party who served above me, or below me.

It was an example that many Marine Officers followed as well.

What “interests” are we protecting again? Are there natural resources, emerging markets, some critical trade or technology? If not then I just don’t get it.

That’s why the US is the Great Satan, and Israel is the Little Satan.

Muslim military attention paid to Israel is Muslim military attention not paid to the US. Israel is our proxy, a local buffer in a world-wide war. If Israel falls, then they come after us.

Freedom of speech applies to service members. I am able to say what I want online, provided I speak, not as a representative of the military, but as a private citizen serving in the military. I support the office of the Presidency, and the Constitution. Freedom to voice my opinions are within my rights as a service member, provided I do not claim to speak for the Army as a whole, or endorse a particular person while in uniform.

After posting a report regarding the U.S. Army War College’s failure to examine Islam’s war doctrines, including a faculty member’s (Sherifa Zuhur’s) assertions that Hamas has been “villainized” by the media, I received several e-mails from concerned people questioning Ms. Zuhur’s “credentials” — some alluded to her sincerity and intentions, or lack thereof — to teach at the War College.

I hope you’re correct, though getting beaten silly in military engagements has never stopped any arabs before. Saddam Hussein was busy raising cain, not 5 minutes after he suffered one of the most humiliating military defeats in all of human history – they had Iraqi soldiers surrendering to Italian journalists. And he never stopped hassling, threatening, and shooting at us, until we finally ended him.

What’s left of the Hamas leadership in Gaza agreed to a one-week ceasefire with the Israelis yesterday. After three weeks of having their butts kicked at will by Israel, Hamas … declared victory: In a speech broadcast on Hamas television……

What was needed was either Hamas signing a surrender, Gilad Shalit being returned, land being taken by Israel, or the end of Hamas’ existence as the government of Gaza.

Agreed. I am not watching the news today or tomorrow, and I refuse to participate in the “historic” moment when racism in America is embodied in our capital. It is historic, but not a cause to rejoice. The election of a black president because he is black is as much cause for remorse as if we had elected a white president on the basis of his being white. Racism is racism, and now it is the way our nation identifies itself.

Today Israel’s blog site announces the ceasefire while in the same paragraph stating that the rockets may still fall in Israel. If that is true they lost.

Not just that. Hamas still has Gilad Shalit. Israel took no land from them. Israel suffered a near-catastrophic loss in Europe. Things are as bad in Europe for Israel (and Jews) as they have been in a long time, and everyone knows where Europe is headed.

Understood, and I agree. But my point is that the world would have been insisting that Israel stop short of the objective no matter who was President of the USA. It has always been so, and Israel always seems to stop just prior to solving their problem.
