Bush and Sutton are buddies – I suspect that was why there was no pardon. I also fully suspect and this is just my opinion, that Sutton had input on this action. I’m still surprised Bush went this far.

Yeah, maybe the signed letter from all 34 Congressmen had some effect after all. IMHO that was as much a message for ol’ Johnny – who now needs to be looking over his shoulder from now on (“you’d better not be a dirty public servant, or else…”) – as it was for W.

They shot 15 times at an unarmed man who was running away from them after he tried to surrender to them during the middle of the day. They were nowhere near their houses.

They bungled the marijuana arrest because they left the scene rather than apprehending the guy they shot at, which meant he was able to get back to Mexico without having any physical evidence tying him to the crime.

They did not report to superiors that they fired their guns (one of them was a instructor who told other agents this requirement and both of them had training on this requirement the prior day) and then subsequently lied about it.

They received an additional mandatory ten year sentence because of a mandatory sentencing law passed by Congress at the urging of the White House. (They were not charged with attempted murder, which would have meant an even longer term).

They were found guilty by a US jury’s unanimous verdict.

John, don’t expect them to acknowledge that we are anti-illegal and pro-legal immigration. That would knock them off their higher moral perch and then they’d be left with just the merits of their argument. Since there is no merit to it, they must slander us as “anti-immigration”. The term “illegal” is conveniently ignored.

They get a break on their sentence as a bone thrown to rabid anti-immigration Conservatives.

entering the country, either paying no taxes or falsifying government documents, identity theft, hit and run, DWI, swamping our emergency rooms, drug dealing and driving like they do in Mexico. Those are just a few of the problems that we are having in Texas, so that lettuce will not be twenty five dollars a head.

I don’t know. All I know is that Compean and Ramos lied and that’s why they find themselves sitting in prison today.

This is one of the more uninformed statemets I have read on this site. jihad is incumbent upon every muslim. There are 3 billion muslims worldwide. Nearly 30% of the muslim population in Great Britain beleives that the train bombings were justified. we are talking about more than just a few thousand, perhaps many hundreds of thousands or even millions. It is naive to think that Jihadists begin and end with Al Qaeda.
