I think Biden showed his colossal ignorance in this choice if what his wife claims is true. He’ll never be President unless Obama assumes room temperature. According to Democrat logic (there’s a stretch, I know!) he won’t be running in 2012 when he’ll be 70 because Barack the Most Merciful will be seeking re-election and in 2016 he’ll be 74, which the Obamabots have already declared as crypt keeper status. So, Veep is his last political job unless in 8 years 74 somehow becomes the new 52.

Joe’s biggest problem is is that he isn’t smart enough to know that he isn’t that smart! Thanks to Jim Leyland for that.

Hillary got the second most powerful and visible job because she has something on Obama he doesn’t want known to the public.

Maybe she has a real copy of his birth certificate and after he gets sworn in as president she will use that to get him to tender his resignation to…her. That’s how the resignation of the presidency works.

I know, conspiracy theory, but she has something on him or he would have left her in the dust.

No VP has ever been accountable for anything until Dick Cheney and Joey B. will return to that tradition. He turned down SoS because if when something goes wrong they won’t be able to hang it on him. He will return to attending funerals in the POTUS’s stead and generally do nothing for a pension after 4 years and fading into oblivion.

In all his career, given the choice of making a dumb choice, or taking a principled stand, Biden has always chosen the former over the latter.

Hopefully (Hopey-ly) the incoming Administrations knee-jerk reaction to a powerful VP will relegate the new VP to the traditional going to foreign funerals and once in a while voting to break a tie in the Senate, nothing more….for the good of the country, for now, this seems to be the best route to take. In years to come, Joe Biden will join the ranks of Alben Barkley, et al., in the Pantheon of most notable Vice Presidents who accomplished nothing and faded from the collective memory as quickly as they were foisted upon us.

I think this shows how shallow Obama’s cabinet picks have been. He’s not using them to foster internal debate but as rewards for loyalty to his campaign. The nominations of Holder and Panetta clearly show that any and all policy will come from the White House. After running a campaign critical of the politicizing of decisions, Obama is clearly showing that all decisions will be made by Obama and his political team and not by the cabinet officials in the field.
