Video: SNL tries to parody Coulter, fails epically

They’ve got a staff full of professional liberal comedy writers, a decade’s worth of material on Coulter to work with, and … this is what they cooked up. Reason enough to grieve for the Obama years: With The One an impermissible target for satire, we’ll be dining on comic dreck like this for the foreseeable future.

They’re touting this on their site as a “web exclusive,” i.e. a skit that didn’t make the cut for broadcast. I wonder why.

SNL should know better than to satirize someone who embodies a walking-talking parody.

Wow, major suckage. I can’t think of anything good SNL has done lately except for the David Paterson imitation, holding the chart upside down. That impression was spot-on.

The clip is unavailable to us dimwits in Canuckistan. No loss. SNL hasn’t been relevant for years now.

notta_dhimmi on January 18, 2009 at 10:50 PM

They should stick to makin fun of back woods hicks and stuff…. It worked with Bush and Palin. They just don’t have the comedic range to go much beyond that.
-
I’m thinking… Obie’s family. It’s ripe for the pickin. How many half brothers and sisters does the One have anyway. And we know his family has lots of dirt floor poor to make fun of. Maybe SNL should work on that… They be real good at that kinda poking fun of.

That was the day when SNL was a very funny and talented show. Gilda, Jane, Dan, John, and on. Al Franken is the only one I never liked. Now SNL is washed up. Has been for a few years.

sheebe on January 18, 2009 at 11:04 PM

Chevy Chase sucked too.

Shows the liberals have no idea what we believe, they only understand their positions…reminds me when an atheist start to argue about scripture, they just make fools of themselves…
And as a side note, close your eyes and it sounds like a really bad imitation of Katheryn Hepburn.

right2bright on January 18, 2009 at 11:12 PM

Thee worst.

sinsing on January 18, 2009 at 11:22 PM

Saturday Night Live hasn’t been funny since it’s original 1970’s Not Ready For Prime Time Players days. Haven’t watched it since Belushi and Aykroyd left.

That was awful… I stopped after the stupid torture comment. I bet that SNL now regrets having Sarah Palin on… they haven’t had the viewership she brought them since!

Well, they had Tina Fey on board, so they must not be TOO picky.

ddrintn on January 18, 2009 at 11:56 PM

Anyone else notice that the Liberal women immitating the conservative women are always less attractive than them. Fey is no where as pretty as Palin and whover that women is is not as pretty as Coulter.

Who is the most attractive Liberal woman politician?

CCRWM on January 18, 2009 at 11:57 PM

Was that a man or woman playing Ann. I might not be a Coulter fan, but Ann’s pretty and that was one hideous creature. She didn’t even do a good imitation. What happened to you SNL; you used to be cool.

*****************

That SNL skit was awful.

Am I among few people who just does not find Saturday Night Live to be funny, which is why I don’t watch it, and I don’t even think to watch it?

I’ve seen clips on HotAir.com when they are posted here for discussion.

Their handling of Sarah Palin was strange. Obama supporters all “know” that Sarah Palin said that she can see Russia from her house, although Sarah Palin never said that, but Tina Fey, pretending to be Sarah Palin for Saturday Night Live, said “I can see Russia from my house.”

In point of fact, there are locations in Alaska which are near enough to Russia where Russia can be seen, which is what Sarah Palin actually did explain, but that doesn’t seem to matter to groups who have the avenue to misrepresent someone and lead their followers, as leftist news and entertainment outlets do, to have the wrong impression of a conservative.

I hope you enjoy the next four years of Barrack Hussein Obama as President of the United States of America, along with the dominate leftist-liberal-Democrat-Fifth Column Senate and House of Representatives.

Happy New Year!

William2006 on January 19, 2009 at 6:34 AM

looks like dana carvey playing a cross between Ross Perot and Katherine Hepburn.

So now Ann Coulter joins all of the other Retarded Republicans.

How can they all be so Stupid?????

Dpet on January 19, 2009 at 6:54 AM

Note for what its worth. These clips do not work outside the U.S. (Canada, in particular). In addition Comedy central clips, sometimes posted here, redirect to their Canadian site where the “offending” material cannot usually be found.

Annar on January 19, 2009 at 6:54 AM

The only funny thing in that was at the end it said “We’re having trouble connecting to our server. If you have any ad blocking software please disable it.” It’s too bad it didn’t block the actual “comedy” skit.

In all fairness, it’s about as funny as anything else they put on these days.

President Yo’Mama should ban bad shows like this to save us from global warming.

darwin-t on January 19, 2009 at 7:24 AM

Shut it off after 30 seconds (EPIC FAIL)

For what it is worth, Sarah Palin on SNL was Hilarious!

Just ordered “GUILTY” from Amazon 2 days ago and I look forward to reading it. I have never purchased one of Ann’s books before but have come close once or twice. Great interview on Rush’s show last week.

gdonovan on January 19, 2009 at 7:26 AM

So modern SNL has found its niche in poor imitations that mock women that don’t fit their mold? I guess it’s any port in a storm when your show has become an anachronism.

How about just showing reruns from when the show actually had a few good moments?

They have to get the adams apple right.

Btw, why are these ‘conservative’ women so manly??? That Laura Ingraham woman sounds like a 70 year old chain smoking old man.

Do any of them ever get married? Have kids?

Vernon Hardapple on January 19, 2009 at 8:40 AM

Manly? Why, because they are smarter and more articulate than you? Because when it comes to debating and arguing their convictions, most liberal men curl up into a fetal position?

CarolynM on January 19, 2009 at 8:55 AM

SNL just can’t get over that Tina Fey isn’t funny. Or approaching funny.

And Mikulski is a man. Perhaps that’s what’s become of Michael Moore — certainly a resemblance.

I THINK SNL’s overall ongoing problems, to put it mildly and be generous here, is that the “writers” (Tina Fey and Seth Meyers) are not funny. Thus, the whole broadcast continues to be very much not funny.

This attempt to satarize Coulter was an utter failure as to intelligent entertainment but a crowning glory of very bad taste and stupidity. Mad TV has long since excelled where SNL has continued to fail.

S on January 19, 2009 at 9:00 AM

Do any of them ever get married? Have kids?

Note that Amy Poehler — the one funny performer in the last few years on SNL — departed the cast after the birth of her first child. Smart.

S on January 19, 2009 at 9:02 AM

O.K., I’ll be more generous here and somewhat gracious: NBC did A GREAT JOB with the laugh track(*)! Very funny laugh track!

O.K., that’s the only thing “funny” that I saw or heard, the laugh track.

(*) a laugh track is a prerecorded audience laughing that is edited into broadcasts TO SIMULATE a laughing audience. Used when no laughing audience is present at a recorded performance.

S on January 19, 2009 at 9:06 AM

“Do any of them ever get married? Have kids?”

Are you suggesting, Vernon Hardapple, that the measure of a woman’s worth is whether she is married with children?

How very progressive of you.

patriette on January 19, 2009 at 9:07 AM

I could only listen for a couple of seconds. It was really not entertaining, so I think they failed even to deliver a jab to Coulter, let alone conservatives and/or those that read her works.

BTW, how many times do I have to hear that the earth will be covered in water soon? Newsflash; the earth is already covered in water (~75%). And, if all of the ice melted and all of the moisture in the air came down all at once, the earth’s sea level would rise only 75′ or so. There is quite a bit of land that is above 75′ sea level…

Geministorm on January 19, 2009 at 9:24 AM

in a word….

Unwatchable.

wildweasel on January 19, 2009 at 9:28 AM

In order to parody someone, you have to understand at least a little about that person. Liberals don’t understand Coulter at all. Just watch that segment from The View: the dynamic isn’t set by Ann, but by the leftbots around her who gang up on her rather than allowing a rational argument. They don’t listen to her reasoning; they don’t want to listen to her reasoning; they can’t formulate counter-arguments because they are talking past her, even though she keeps landing body blows.

Parody that and you could be funny … but no leftbot ever would get it.

njcommuter on January 19, 2009 at 9:30 AM

Noneya on January 18, 2009 at 10:13 PM

not to mention born a man….

Typical hateful liberal. You question Coulter’s gender for no other reason than other people do so.

How confused are you? Methinks you need to retake sex education if you can’t tell a man from a woman. Your upcoming high school prom must be a major source of trauma for you, not knowing if you should ask a boy or girl out.

ynot4tony2 on January 19, 2009 at 9:32 AM

That was just…awful.

Bad awful. I noticed maybe 3 real audience laugh reactions, and a lot of punchlines with no response.

MadisonConservative on January 19, 2009 at 9:52 AM

That was so not funny and either is Tina Fey. We have reached such a low in mediocrity in all levels of “entertainment”. The singers, actors, comedians, aren’t close to being good but get praise and money that is just beyond belief.
