State senator: It doesn’t matter if Maryland’s broke as long as Obama’s president
posted at 3:45 pm on January 17, 2009 by Allahpundit
The most touchingly pure expression of Obama cultist devotion since Peggy Joseph declared her mortgage troubles over. Besides, she’s right, isn’t she? Maryland may be behind California in the bailout line, but pretty soon everyone will get theirs. Our permanent state of emergency guarantees it.
Think of it this way: If the risen Christ descended from the sky tomorrow, your interest in the federal deficit would wane pretty quickly. That’s what we’re looking at here. Click the image to watch.

Hellooooooo!!!! Representative democracy with universal suffrage in a heterogeneous population doesn’t work.
The question remains, is it still the best available option, with the understanding that it produces a society with a limited life-span? Bet you didn’t think you’d be alive at the end of ours. Funny part is, hardly anyone knows.

And the Founders warned about this:
Democracy… while it lasts is more bloody than either aristocracy or monarchy. Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There is never a democracy that did not commit suicide.
– John Adams
Democracy is the most vile form of government… democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention: have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property: and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths.
–James Madison
No. There are better much better systems available (or close to available).
On this point, there is no escape. All systems have finite life-spans. The question is how the life runs and what happens at the end.
Yep. I find the turn of events to be beyond shocking and disappointing. And all this is happening right before we go into space and really start expanding and creating wealth. What a shame.

But I wish someone had tried to explain the difference between those systems to George Bush. His bleating on about Democracy did no one any good and only fed the left’s erroneous, and dangerous, ideas.
P.S. The party names are quite appropriate; Republicans want a Republic and Democrats want a Democracy. If only people, in general, understood the difference.

Sometimes I think it’s the Tower of Babel story all over–being punished for our hubris. Other times I think nothing could have possibly been any different. Surely you can see the seeds in all this evident ever since the end of the second world war.
India has done very well in some ways–at least in terms of longevity. It has withstood wave after wave of invasion, and co-opted everyone. Hinduism is so vastly elastic–it serves as a fine glue for them, even dealing with the issue of what to do with their people of lesser abilities.
China too passes the time test with flying colors.
We’re going through the beginnings of the same process. We will disappear. Who knows what will remain here.
Don’t you think we should have been smart enough to have known this a little more in advance? As you say, it’s the element of surprise that shocks, not the events. You could probably make a whole list of similar societal rot in other places at other times. This really might help explain how the dumbest and least able among us are now our leaders. We never really stood a chance, as long as we’d die for our ideals and the preservation of civilization–and die for them you will.
I do wonder about something. When the fiat currencies break down, why wouldn’t some country SELL part of it’s land for gold. Perhaps there’s a possibility some people can start the whole process over here, or elsewhere. Ah,there’s that Hinduism again. It really draws me. Maybe Spengler meant India.

Ahem, I Just Saw a Criticism of The One.
Charles Krauthammer on Fox thought it was a bit arrogant for The One to imitate Lincoln on his “historic” train trip before the inauguration. Naturally, he was immediately set upon by Juan Williams who reminded the racist pig that both were from Illinois. Some commented that so was Blago, but Charles was already sorry. The fact that President Lincoln did it after a civil war and most trying presidency, was lost on Juan.
And you wonder where the poor lady above gets it?
And so it goes..
IlikedAUH2O on January 17, 2009 at 5:46 PM
Charles was planning on eating some arugula salad with walnut dressing this evening after the show, a leftover from his dinner with Barry. Perhaps that little guilty secret was the reason for the mea culpa you witnessed.

I mean to say this honestly
She wasnt completly WRONG..
1. Liberals forced all banks to allow anything breathing borrow for home loans they couldnt afford
2. Liberals opened the doors wide to every one
EXCEPT Citizens of the USA. (were all rich racists)
3. Liberals ran the companies out of their own states
4. Now their broke (and i mean completly)
and they are WHOLEY dependant upon
The gag Messia to somehow
Get the money and hand it to the states
so they can continue the same failed policies.
This shows you the complete idiocy of the liberals , the congressional black caucass and democrats.
Oh yea a lot of republicans also shared blame
but because they didnt want to actually do their own jobs
like WATCHING the Banks and Wallstreet.
So this MORON called a congressman (gag) is bowing down
to the messia (gag osama err obama) to
Borrow the money
From communist china (the communist party in china is rolling down the isles in laughter).
From the saudis islamists (just allow us to wipe out all the infidels and jews) and we will also give you the money
Who also are Roling down their red carpets in their mosques
I am just waiting for the next group
the columbian drug cartel
Dont laugh
A few years ago
The Drug dealers offered (liek the mafia)
to pay OFF columbias foreign debt
In exchange for ohh 1/2 of the country..
So i am not surprised by this moronic womans actions
oh now i now come toi expect it
This is why i am now getting ready
For the COMPLETE COLLAPSE of
The FORMER
United States of America
Destroyed by
Democrats – looting the treasury
Republicans – looting WALL street
Communists (suppporting the demorats)
Rich perverts (supporting both sides)
I for one have had enought of the VILE
DISGUSTING CONGRESS , SENATE, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
SO CALLED MESSIA (osama hussein obama)
And ALL of them
I really believe that our country will not last
4 years (it is mathematically impossible)
I dont believe we will last 12 months with these
morons running the government
It used to be
One government (by the people and for the people)
Now its
Their government
To loot and rob at will
And make the rest of us PAY FOR IT..
How do i explain this travesty
to my sons???
I cant..
No wonder they dont want to vote anymore
Both sides are Completly EVIL
the republicans just havent caught up to the democrats
in the amount of evil (but they are getting close)..

He is more like a closet liberal..
the fact the republican party choose mccain
shows they wanted to throw the election
maybe hoping for a ronald regan revolt #2
but they severly miscalculated on three things
1. the economy (they let it run wild)
2. the price of oil (that finished it)
3, immigration (they woudlnt take a tought stand)
and now america is electing
a complete idiot (obama) followed by a moron (binden)
a witch (pelozi) and the rest of them are either drug addicts , homer sexuals, or other trash..
And they are so shocked how they lost..
Easy you idiots..

China and India are very interesting examples. Part of their longevity arises from, IMHO, the fact that they are stability-oriented rather than progress-oriented. The Eastern philosophies, in general, seem to have this bent. At least, this is the conclusion I’ve come to in trying to understand how many in the East have had phase-changing inventions long before the West but never exploited them to their fullest extent (e.g. the Chinese, having invented moveable type first, should have been immediately catapulted to world domination, much moreso than the Mongols achieved). Personally, I prefer progress, along with all the risk it entails (hence my screenname). The big problem in the West, though, is when we abandoned progress as our primary motivation and moved to peace as the ultimate desire.
I think that many, myself included, underestimated the strength of emotions in ruling people’s decisions. After all, we are based on the premise of rationality. The guilt that the West laid on itself after WWII, as you mention (which was super-charged in the 60′s and came to true fruition with the fall of the USSR and the ability for us to float off into a utopian world view totally divorced from reality) is so deply embedded in our society that there seems no escape from it. We had a slight possibility, after 9/11, but Bush chose to just reinforce the old guilt (the whole “islam is a religion of peace” cr#p) and then it went ballistic. At least that’s how I’ve seen it. Another large hit somewhere could snap everyone out of their delusional worlds, but … I think that most are banking on the destruction of Israel to do this – even that would only perpetuate the current situation.
I don’t know what is going to happen with the fall of the currencies. I’ve tried to game out some scenarios, but they all end with totalitarianism or just chaos and disintegration. I hope that people are working on contingency plans for the fall of the currencies, but I’m afraid they aren’t. I’m not a big gold bug, myself, but there must either be some sort of hard backing to a new currency, or some restrictions on its creation. I do have a feeling that a good deal of land/national assets will be swapped for debts, as the system comes down, but then we come to the question of the continued validity of contracts.
Though, I am, a bit, the optimist in this area, in that I believe there is a genius solution available. I just don’t think we have any geniuses working on it. We need someone like a Von Neumann, now. I’m not holding my breath. The current crop are anything but awe-inspiring, just like our government. (As an aside, taking the gulf oil fields would solve two of the world’s biggest problems, right now. It would totally defang the arab/persian/muslim enemies, taking that threat off the table, and it would reinject value into our currency. I just wanted to note that even though it’s a non-starter.)
I still have faith that the West (America, specifically) will eventually pick up our own dropped baton, but there is going to be a lot of chaos, ugliness and death in the interim. If the arab/persian/muslim world ends up with the upper hand, though … game over, I think.
