Video: Limbaugh and Coulter on the media

posted at 7:20 pm on January 16, 2009 by Allahpundit

Normally I’d just give you the transcript, but on a cold, slow Friday night I figured you might be looking for something to watch. As always with Coulter, good points are interspersed with … less than good ones:

COULTER: …What I think is interesting about Soros; and Marcos, whatever his name is, of Daily Kos; and Arianna Huffington are, you know, basically the three unofficial spokesmen of the Democratic Party and they all speak in foreign accents of their foreign upbringings. Can’t you wait a few generations? Let your grandkids do the America bashing, you know, not right away. You can barely understand them.

RUSH: Arianna, you need a translator.

COULTER: And George Soros!

RUSH: Yeah, him, too. I’ve never heard the Daily Kos guy speak.

COULTER: Yeah, he was brought up in someplace in Latin America. You can’t understand them. They speak in foreign accents. They represent the Democratic Party.

Eh, cheap shot. Kos doesn’t have an accent; he’s perfectly intelligible. All she’s doing is playing a cruder version of Tom Hanks’s new favorite game. But dive in; 30 minutes of vid awaits.

I actually thought that George could have overcome this episode if he had not started pointing out crazy passages from Webb’s novels. It seemed sort of desperate even to me and I like George. I wasn’t aware of the pictures she talks about, if true then the media has scored…..again.

I heard them this morning, and I have to say- Very entertaining. Both of them are incredibly quick, and know what they’re talking about. Doesn’t bother me in the least if they take cheap shots at KOS, Ariana, Olberdork, etc. The MSM is nasty-hateful ALL the time, so a few jabs from Rush and Ann is nothing.

What a disappointment Rush has turned out to be the past few years. A total Republican shill all through the Bush years up until 2006 where he proclaimed himself “free” after the Republicans imploded. Dude totally defended these Pubs, because as he said “the stakes were too high.” Yet the Pubs were pushing socialist policy as well as becoming totally corrupted by DC. He could have taken a stand then, but no, “the stakes were too high” while his party imposed more and more government and spent like crazy.

It’s hard to take him seriously now when he proclaims to not be a Republican. Unfortunately, at least to me, he damaged himself to a great degree by not holding Pubs accountable.

I still love him for what he’s done for conservatism/libertarianism/individualism, but the last few years are hard to forget about.

True_King on January 16, 2009 at 7:58 PM

Call them ‘cheap shots’ as you wish. But Coulter is one of the few on our side who understands leftist debate methodology and who’s adept at playing the lefty’s game against them. Lefties win not on the issues usually, but by cheap shots, emotionalism and semantic deceit. Coulter throws it back against them… with poetic finesse.

The left has been succeeding lately in making it fashionable for country club Republicans to distance themselves from her, so Rush’s show today was a timely reaffirmation of David Horowitz’s (and probably Mark Levin’s too) assertion: Ann Coulter is our national treasure.

You go listen to Air America, or Keith O. for any hour of anyday in the last 12 months and then come back and tell me that the right doesn’t have the moral high ground.
I’m not saying the bar is set high at all, or that I am thrilled with all of the rhetoric, BUT, compared to the other side…… please.

JeffinOrlando on January 16, 2009 at 8:18 PM

I’ve never been a huge fan of Ann Coulter, but the fact she totally infuriates the left tells me she must be saying something worth hearing.

Referencing the whole “Macaca” incident in George Allen’s campaign that year: have you noticed how the more conservative a Republican is, the more effort the left invests into attacking him, demeaning him? And the less strong their conservative bona fides (hello Sen McCain) they treat them much more gently…?

Do you think there is a noticeable pattern there?

Red State State of Mind on January 16, 2009 at 8:18 PM

I agree with you. I think sometimes Ann says things meant as satire meant to elicit outrage from the Left; she often says exactly the same things they say in reverse, but they don’t recognize it, and go off the deep end condemning her. I think she is very intelliegent and pointing out their hypocrisy, but they (along with many on the right) don’t recognize that she is doing exactly what they do on purpose..

It’s a tragedy, you and I say. But now we acknowledge reality and play the best with the hand that’s dealt us, right? The way I see it, it’s a matter of survival.

Percy_Peabody on January 16, 2009 at 8:53 PM

Rush Limbaugh has never been a shill for the Republican Party. He is and always has been a Reagan Conservative. He has said time and time again that if you are a Conservative then your best chance of advancing that adgenda with through the Republican Party because there would be no chance with the Dems. He proclaimed himself free after 2006 of having to carry the Republicans’ water after they lost Congress. He does not get his marching orders from the Republican Party. Never has. It isn’t his job to prop up the Republican Party. Especially now that they have gone “limp” and refuse to fight for the American people. Frankly the Republican Party has no soul or direction. They have refused their conservative roots and the ones that are left have been emasculated by trying to cater to every whim of the Democrats’ victims groups. Isn’t that what Ann’s new book is all about?
Rush wasn’t a McCain supporter and I am sure that the only reason that he voted for McCain was because of Sarah. That was what many Conservatives did this election. He wouldn’t even choose anyone in the primaries because none of them were sufficiently Conservative. I am sure he voted for Romney because that was the closest he could get to Conservativism at that point. He would never say who to vote for in the election.
It isn’t Rush’s job to hold Republicans or Democrats accountable. It’s the voter’s job. All he can do is inform you and it is your job to take action. If you are mad at Republicans then don’t vote for them. Millions of people had that option in November and they took advantage of it. This isn’t Rush’s fault.

Me too. Before the interview about her latest book, I felt I’d read enough of her so there wouldn’t be much new. But after Rush’s show, I decided to buy Guilty: Liberal “Victims” and Their Assault on America

Yes, two giants in their fields, with humor to boot.

Cheap shot at Kos.. it’s an echo by now, but Dude.. No such thing..

hell, People should take random sucker punches to his raisins whenever they get a chance…

What a great vid. I love that Ann went around a kissed Rush at the end!!

(PS Markos Moulitsas Zúñiga was brought up, until 1980, in El Salvador per Wikipedia. I don’t know if he has an accent, and I don’t care)

I daresay that ‘conservative’ that tries to defend Kos needs to lose their street cred..

Whatever you may think about Ann Coulter on radio and the tube, read all of her books before you come to any conclusions. High Crimes and Misdemeanors alone should convince anyone, imo, of her legal and research bona fides. From there on in it just gets funnier; it should be apparent by now that she employs hyperbole as a constant device (she’s self-described as a polemicist) and that one of her main targets is her own self-importance.

She can’t be making much money being on talk shows. Sure, it sells books, but the delight she takes in battle is worth the ticket to me. I’m always surprised to hear how many people presume to judge her without reading her stuff.

The woman’s a genius.

Thank you so very much for posting this.

Agreed. Her books are works of art. She should be required reading by every poster here.

That was a thoroughly entertaining watch. About halfway through I received a phone call to say the cost of my bicycle repairs will jump from $120 to over $400, and the rest of the interview was ~still~ an entertaining watch, although I did lose focus for a bit.

I have to ask one question and keep in mind that I do not live in the U.S. How did the Democrats manage to become the MSM and not the Conservatives?

Thanks for putting the video up for us. Good entertainment on a cold Friday night.

It all starts in Journalism 101 at most American Universities. The leftist slant in the teaching has led most writers and producers to lean to the left as well.

We’ll see how well this works out for them as the try to hide the obvious. This Black Messiah has no clothes.

She was out right wrong about Kos having an accent. But cheap shot? Continual reminders that these people are America haters isn’t going to hurt anyone.

snaggletoothie on January 16, 2009 at 10:39 PM

Yep, I’ll take Ann to have my back in any battle.
