It would be interesting to hear how some Democrats in the public eye explain the stark difference between this transition and the last one. To me, this says everything that needs to be said about the difference between Republicans and Democrats. Indeed, after the uncivil shame of the Clinton transition, it says everything that can be said.

Not just the behavior of the departing administration, but of the incoming administration!

I don't recall Bush acting like the President in the 10 weeks before his first inauguration: no weekly messages on the radio, no press conferences several times a week, no meetings with foreign leaders and dignitaries, no press reporting his every move and utterance, and Bush's cabinet picks were dutifully reported by the press without much fanfare.

PEBO thinks and acts like he's already President, except when he's asked to give strong opinions on current events - then he falls back on the 'one President at a time' ("Don't look at me - 's'not my job yet!") mantra.

I agree with Rush: BO is in permanent campaign mode - always running for President, but he doesn't really want the responsibility of doing the job of the President.

Do y’all know Obama doesn’t intend to give up his BlackBerry? Said something about, “We can beat this thing back.”

Alana on January 16, 2009 at 11:25 PM

I'm wondering if that doesnt' tie into the gym thing. I can't understand why he's so gung ho about going to the gym in chicago.

However, here is a tinfoil hat scenario. ...

Obama wants to keep in contact with billy ayers and similar scumballs. He can't very well call billy on the whitehouse phone with the Secret service monitoring it and say somehting like "Well Bill looks like we are well on the road to establishing a communist state here. Are you all ready with your re-education program? " or... "Hey tony, I wanna buy a house in DC but can't quite afford it and by the way, I know you are looking for some legislations regarding the size of the hospital board "

So, what is an obvious tom-clancy way of doing things...

Well, you simply have a couple of people with memberships at the gym. The day before obama goes, they tape a memory card behind the toilet paper holder in the third stall from the left. Obama goes in to take a dump and grabs the card, throws it in his blackberry and puts on the earphones. There is Billy Ayers via MP3 reminding him of his mission. Next MP3 is a legislation for money offer etc etc. Barryo can just text his orders/replies onto the card, delete the previous stuff and someone picks the card up the next day.

The SS would only be sweeping for something dangerous.. I doubt that they would ever look for something as small as a memory card.

Anyway, the gym would make a perfect place for a deaddrop ala tom clancy's Cardinal in the Kremlin.

/tinfoil hat - too much tom clancy

Since empirical reality doesn't support one single plank of the Democratic platform (I checked), it must be racist, sexist and homophobic.

Springsteen was always a liberal, but he knew how to rock. But ever since he put out Nebraska every hit sounds alike: maudlin and devoid of melody.

As soon as Obama said "If you look my statements throughout the campaign..." I knew he was about to lie to us. The man is simply and completely incapable of telling the truth.

Thanks, Democrats. Now we have another compulsive liar in the White House to manage for the next four years. Nice going.

While Stingspreen's politics suck, 'The Rising", released after 9/11 is an extremely good collection of songs. 90% in my opinion are pro-America

Most of these singers have lost their marbles. Ian Anderson from Tull had a great song called Broadsword. It's basically about a group of men standing stoically to face incoming invaders. One line is "Bless with a hard heart, those who surround me". IOW, let's do what has to be done.

Today, old Ian is one of the fashionable anti war crowd.

The other thing is that these people are amazingly pampered. If you ever read the Smoking Gun when they get a hold of the waivers for hotel rooms, it's unbelievable. It details everything as to what flavor of Doritos and how many bags have to be there. I think it was streisand who demands a virgin toilet seat.

Well, at least springsteen has done some benefits for the troops.

If I sat right down and tried, I could not care any less than I do right now about what Springstein says, does, or thinks. I've never been a fan, never understood his popularity, singing for him is a relative term, in fact, I think he's pretty overrated with a schtick that sells.
Just my 2 cents.

Someone who can reckon with the past, who can live with the past in the present, and move towards the future – that’s fabulous.

Sounds like Springsteen is trying to say Obama braved the civil rights era and forgives the evil white man to make the future utopia.

Guess he didn't hear that Obambi was raised as the white boy "Barry", went to private schools and ivy league universities and only became a real "black" man recently.

What does that even mean? Can anyone help me out here? Does he plan to let his crazy Uncle Jeremiah out of the attic?

I’ll feel better if the dog ever does materialize, but I have a feeling that if Obama wants it, he expects to get it. And if he doesn’t want it, well, that’s that.

They're narrowed their choices down to a Labradoodle or Portuguese Water Dog. Purely by happenstance a very fine specimen will end up in a shelter, the Obamas will adopt it, and all the world will proclaim how wonderful they are for choosing the orphaned dog instead of going to a breeder.

What? I didn't know Springsteen was in suspended animation during the 60's & 70's.

Shut up and sing.

On second thought, Bruce, just shut up.

benny:

Funny how you picked the one post that used the word negro.

I will say this, I never liked Springsteen. Politics aside, I just never could understand why anyone would think he had talent. As for the Dixie Chicks, they should have known their audience.

Tell me, if some country singer went to a foreign country and told the audience that the fact that Obama was president made her ashamed of her country...would you think that was tacky, stupid, out of place? Probably.

But there is that double standard at work here and as usual your side of the aisle operates in a world where everyone else is at fault.

So, according to Bruce, the Democrats had nothing to do with the war, the financial sector meltdown or anything else. That is stupid. That is why people think Bruce is a moron, he is.

Democrats were pushing for these socalled unregulated loans back when Clinton was president and Democrats voted for the war as well...based on intel, most of which was gathered when a Democrat was president.

The socalled attempts to undermine our democratic system I would assume have something to do with NSA {who can be sure, after all years of drug abuse have taken their toll on Bruce}..at any rate that program will be used by his own Obama and has been upheld by FISA.

The truth is people like Bruce Springsteen have made a ton of money crapping on this country. They can only tolerate America and Americans when one of their guys wins and they can only tolerate their guys if he kisses their butts. I mean really, if Bruce thinks all these people are suffering, he can give away his money to charity to help them and then he can actually live like one of the average Americans he pretends to speak for.

When I was a Kid, one of my cousins lived near asbury park. I remember the smoke rising over that city from the riots. Asbury Park, like many cities, ended up in a slow but steady decline over the decades due to the mismanagement of the democraps.

The only thing Barry and Lincoln have in common is that neither of them was actually from Illinois.

What is this need for justice that Obama keeps righteously referring to? Now, if he talking about bringing most of his Chicago political cronies and many of his fellow Democrats to justice, I would agree.

If he is still grievance-mongering on the basis of race, then he has a very blinded understanding of justice. He is talking about social engineering that gives equality of outcome regardless of talent or effort. That is not justice, however.

Affirmative action legislation is one of the biggest injustices in our history. Both Obama and his wife appear to be beneficiaries of affirmative action, yet they still seem not to be satisfied.

I refuse to recognize the contributions of anyone to any field if they say things I don’t like about George Bush.

He should stick to his field, where his knowledge lies.

Artsy Fartsy types commenting on politics..with the implication that they know what they're talking about.. is like your car mechanic correcting a doctor.
