New Pepsi campaign: Obama’s about to “refresh our nation”

posted at 8:46 pm on January 15, 2009 by Allahpundit

Debbie Schlussel flagged this yesterday but only now that I’ve seen the clip have I been sufficiently “refreshed” that I feel like posting on it.

Not the most shameless bit of Obama-related marketing I’ve seen, but certainly the lamest. Or is it? Click the image to watch.

When this nation is attacked again, and it will be, under Hussein’s watch, I’m firstly going to wait for the “I didn’t know” line from the mouth of the Chosen One. Secondly, I’m going to check the news for attacks on American interests abroad, such as what happened to KFC, and PepsiCo branch, in the middle east.

Then, I’m going to laugh my a** off at those, like PepsiCo, who praise his name.

I’m going to laugh at all of those who thought he would heal America with the waving of his hands.

I’m going to laugh at all of those who shield this charlatan from his mistakes.

There will be only one person responsible for another attack.

And his name is Obama.

madmonkphotog on January 15, 2009 at 9:32 PM

Coca-Cola has been, is, and always will be the best soda pop in the world!

Pepsi is crap. Crap endorses more crap.

I am buying some Coca-Cola tomorrow in defiance.

Being from the south, I don’t drink Pepsi products. Too sweet.

Don’t know how to do the link thingy but just went to Pepsico site and found numerous things to be shaved off of the grocery list and suitable replacements found. Stopped drinking Pepsi last week when I recognized the obama logo on the can. Drinking homemade sweet tea instead.

The Honest Tea thing doesn’t bother me much because it’s just a one-time promotional thing; and after all, Obama actually drinks Honest Tea. Pepsi, on the other hand, has revamped their logo to mimic The “O” and started a full-out advertising campaign.

And for the record, Shop Rite Cola is pretty good–and cheap! (Pathmark, not so much.)

jaibones, I did put “smartest” in single quotes.

Beth, I feel sorry for you for not having a good Jewish deli close by. On the cake…well, it’s business. Just imagine something wicked you’d write on, until the last moment and how silly the ones are paying you (hopefully a lot) for it.

Nat Hound on January 15, 2009 at 9:39 PM

Before you decide to use your last Pepsi’s for target practice, they have for a couple years now made substantial donations to Fisher House which helps wounded vets.

Big business seeing an opening to increase their market share is nothing new, it’s smart.

Well, you have three options, as I see it:

1. Spell it like you did in your post.
2. Mentally place a “p” before the phrase.
3. Make sure you’re done before noon EST. Pres. Bush is still the “chief” until then. If other people misinterpret it and think you mean Mr. Obama, that’s not your fault.

Oh, and happy birthday.

Obama, they think they’ll just enjoy his rule
They don’t need a reason why
Everything’s alright

(but they may find)

Crash, crash, crash, crash
Crash, crash, crash, crash
The fall of Obama

His pronouncements go round and round
But some things never change

Crash, crash, crash, crash
Crash, crash, crash, crash
The fall of Obama

Look, look and they may never find
The taste that was on their mind
Although they won’t be denied
(But they may find)

Crash, crash, crash, crash
Crash, crash, crash, crash
The fall of Obama yeah

Ah well, what do you expect for 25 cents a hour?

Alana on January 15, 2009 at 9:38 PM

Yeah, well in business when you get political you end up turning up your nose at those who disagree with your position. You risk attracting new customers at the loss of old. And if the business is publicly traded – oh boy, watch for the stock drop. In fact, thinking about it, a publicly traded company taking a stand for something – like The One – is like saying everyone that owns a piece of that company supports it as well (think teachers unions, etc.).

I wish some well-heeled pepsi stock owners would protest – and SELL SELL SELL!!!

Just emailed this to Pepsi Co
=====================================

I have been drinking your signature product for over 40 years. As of this week, as soon as the last Diet Pepsi’s I have in my fridge are gone, I will be “refreshing” my desire for Coke products, and not looking back.

Why?

Your sycophantic bootlicking for Obama turns my stomach.

So enjoy your unicorns, rainbows, and plummeting stock price.

I will be enjoying a Coke and a smile.

Love,

Sugarbuzz

Pepsi is, and always will be, the lesser of the 2 main colas. This “clever marketing scheme” won’t change that. Now, where are my RC Cola and Moon Pie (chocolate, of course).

Btw, nice farewell speech tonight Mr. President.

Gohawgs on January 15, 2009 at 10:24 PM

One way to get around Pepsi is to makeyourown.

shazbat on January 15, 2009 at 10:27 PM

This comes at just the right time. I had stopped drinking Pepsi about 3 years ago or so when their CEO called America the middle finger of the world. At that time. I loved diet pepsi,, drank about a can a day on average. I wrote Pepsi several emails and never heard anything back from them. Haven’t drank more than 3 pepsi’s in 3 years and tell any and all when the opportunity arises to not drink Pepsi. .
Just as I was thinking that maybe I could let it go,, this comes along. Perfect.
I am done with these companies that do this stuff. They want to get political,, go for it. My money, as small as it may be,, will go somewhere else.
Coke is better anyway.

I feel like I’m watching a kindergarten play and this big-eared grinning child is stealing the show.

Everything about Obarfy and his worshipers is so freakin childish. Have we elected a president or a game show host?

“Well, that’s sad, then, but I also will no longer go to PizzaHut, TacoBell, KFC, and whatever others for my family. I didn’t see those on the “Pepsico products” page.”

PepsiCo sold those brands to Yum! Brands.

Yum! Brands Now owns PizzaHut, TacoBell, KFC…..

I doubt they do, but do any of you remember Indra Nooyi? http://wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=30414

That’s not the best link for the controversy, but Pepsi and its management leave much to be desired. Indra, et al like the fortunes they have made with an American company, but they seem to have few problems slagging Yanks when it suits them.

I’ll add this one thought,,,,,, all this media that is forced on us can give the impression we are like grasshoppers,, we are outnumbered and surrounded. And it may well be true,,,,
but I have often thought that this media,, movies, TV, newscast, music, magazines, the major papers,, have the ability to so overinflated their dominance and strength. The media’s greatest power lies in it’s ability to demoralize.
If reality were really as the combined media says it is,,,, Obama should have won by tens of millions.
One Joe the plumber still continues to dominate some high paid media personalities.
There really are two worlds in America. the world of the combined media and the world of the life and mind of the average American. The combined media has the great advantage of appearing everywhere at once while presenting one clear message of perceived overwhelming strength. The voice and opinion of the average American,, far outnumbers the combined media,, but is broken and scattered.
This nation is deceived. The weaker few truly are ruling the much stronger many.
But it is still now through deception. Deception that we are few,, that we are weak,, and that we are alone.
If just one Joe the Plumber can upset so much and strike fear into so many,,,, imagine what even one march of 100,000 Joe’s would accomplish?
