New Pepsi campaign: Obama’s about to “refresh our nation”

Debbie Schlussel flagged this yesterday but only now that I’ve seen the clip have I been sufficiently “refreshed” that I feel like posting on it.
Not the most shameless bit of Obama-related marketing I’ve seen, but certainly the lamest. Or is it? Click the image to watch.

I knew there was a reason why I was a Coke drinker.
ScoopPC11 on January 16, 2009 at 12:47 PM
Say, so was Obama…oh wait, not a coke DRINKER……
HornetSting on January 16, 2009 at 12:59 PM
It has been confirmed, my eyes weren’t deceiving me after all. And all this time since I first saw the new Pepsi logo I kept thinking, “That new logo sure looks like Obambi’s logo”.
ic1redeye on January 16, 2009 at 1:35 PM
I personally am much better off after 8 years of Bush, however, I am less optimistic about hte next 4 years.
Hazmat on January 16, 2009 at 1:39 PM
This was my initial response when I first heard about this.
Joshua P. Allem on January 16, 2009 at 1:40 PM
Me, too.
It’s too bad, because I really, really love Pepsi. :(
StephC on January 16, 2009 at 1:59 PM
I will not be purchasing Pepsi products anytime soon.
Oxybeles on January 16, 2009 at 2:07 PM
Pelozie and other democrats are salivating
at the chance to
empty club gitmo of the
Islamic nazis
but obama and the demorats will then fill it
With AMERICANS ..
you idiots voted these traitors into power.
When you are thown into jail for
DARING to speak out against the CRIMES of the liberals..
or even worse (daring to go to church or believe the bible)
when the Gestapo (lead by pelozi and reid) breaks down
the doors of your home
and they haul you off to a federal jail for the CRIME OF
not believe what they do..
then you will be destined for a fate far worse
than anything we ever did to the islamo nazis.
jcila on January 16, 2009 at 3:12 PM
What difference does it make?
The CEOs for Coke probably voted for Obama too.
Pcoop on January 16, 2009 at 3:14 PM
why is does that ugly woman have her hand on her chest? Is it a large Pepsi burp?
kirkill on January 16, 2009 at 3:18 PM
Always thought plepsi had a funny taste! No more for me.
steelman on January 16, 2009 at 3:21 PM
Ever notice what happens to the word “Pepsi” when you separate the straight line from the circle on the middle “p”? Coincidence? I think not.
Immolate on January 16, 2009 at 3:26 PM
Well, I have probably purchased enough Pepsi, over the last 30 years, to put half of the Pepsi workers familes through college, and braces.
No more! Not after this!
Pepsi, you’re on your own!
ToddonCapeCod on January 16, 2009 at 3:29 PM
I prefer the taste of Pepsi.
This is just clever marketing.
They should put all of the Clinton Cabinet now serving Obama in a Pepsi commercial so they can say “I’m ready for a change” like in a rapid fire soundbite.
HILLARY
GEITENER
EMANUEL
ETC.
Just saying things that come to mind.
“I like raising taxes.”
“I like affirmative action.”
“Socialism? It’s not so bad.”
“You want change? Here it comes.”
I’d still drink Pepsi because I know Pepsi will be shrinking away from this in two years and pretend it didn’t happen.
Like New Coke.
Black Adam on January 16, 2009 at 4:09 PM
Boycotting Pepsi is fairly easy, as I don’t care for it. I don’t drink sodas anyway, unless it is a Coke drizzled into my Jack.
However, this is makes me sick.
“Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. (NYSE: KKD) is honoring American’s sense of pride and freedom of choice on Inauguration Day, by offering a free doughnut of choice to every customer on this historic day, Jan. 20. By doing so, participating Krispy Kreme stores nationwide are making an oath to tasty goodies — just another reminder of how oh-so-sweet ‘free’ can be.”

I really hope that was a poor choice of words and they clear it up soon.
pannw on January 16, 2009 at 4:20 PM
Oops…
However, this
ismakes me sick. No, I haven’t been drizzling Coke into the Jack already. :*)pannw on January 16, 2009 at 4:21 PM
As an addicted Diet Pepsi drinker, I was compelled to do a post on this early in the week.
http://www.withbias.net/2009/01/time-for-me-to-put-down-diet-pepsi.html
It might work for Pepsi, but I can’t support it.
BiasedGirl on January 16, 2009 at 4:24 PM
If I have a choice I always pick coke over pepsi, but I’m not giving up my mountain dew or dr pepper or brisk…
Darth Executor on January 16, 2009 at 4:46 PM
Always drank Coke, always hated pepsi. Jeff Gordon reinforced that, this pepsi/obama campaign sealed it.
oakpack on January 16, 2009 at 4:52 PM
Thanks Pepsi, it has just taken me 50 years to come-up with reason #2 as to why I drink Coke.
moonsbreath on January 16, 2009 at 5:02 PM
I don’t care how individual people voted – it’s the “refreshing” marketing campaign that makes me see red. I’ll acknowledge him as my President – unlike those leftist @sshats who spent the last eight years chanting “Selected, not elected,” in spite of the shenanigans in Ohio and other states, and in spite of how he outright cheated with campaign contributions, and in spite of the fact that he’d never have won if the media hadn’t intervened for him. Fine. But this “refreshing” “it’s a new day” “let’s all pull together for the sake of the country” rings pretty d@mn hollow after the last eight years and I won’t support it or any of the hypocrites who play at it.
Laura on January 16, 2009 at 5:09 PM
just got the word from the wife: No more Pepsi products in our house. Morons.
flyoverland on January 16, 2009 at 5:13 PM
Damn, that’s an ugly girl.

COKE, COKE, COKE COKE, COKE, COKE, COKE Sometimes Dr.Pepper
thmcbb on January 16, 2009 at 5:46 PM
We’re so screwed.
Not only can’t this moron say a decent sentence without stuttering like a fool, he’s got every other moron on this planet believing he has the answers to all their questions. He won’t even answer questions from his own benevolent press corp? And all they merely do is do the knee drop and fellate on command.
I am so angry right now I can spit….right into a Pepsi can. Coke Forever ya’ll
JP1986UM on January 16, 2009 at 5:53 PM
I guess this explains the new Pepsi Logo that looks like it was copied from the Obama campaign logo.
MikeA on January 16, 2009 at 6:25 PM
I don’t care who they vote for. It’s the hubris of assuming we are all going to be happy, it is a wonderful new day now, and all that TOTAL CRAP they are trying to shove down everyone.
Alana on January 16, 2009 at 7:09 PM
My family’s been drinking Pepsi our whole lives, and 90% of us vote Republican. They’re trailing Coke by a mile, so hey, if they can rip off the Messiah’s logo and pick up some market share, why not? nObama ripped off the logo from some graphic artist so clearly it’s not a trademark issue, right? (no where DID that mothership of JD go…)
Biffstir on January 16, 2009 at 7:12 PM
oops
NOW WHERE’S that JD and hand me the ice!
Biffstir on January 16, 2009 at 7:13 PM
Fabulous video, Joshua!

Another reason to hope Jeff Gordon wrecks every week.

Coke is it. Nuff said.
tartan on January 16, 2009 at 8:38 PM
Well, using that standard would mean you could never protest anything. Hey,, I am sure there were good people in Germany that got bombed by the allies in WWII. That is just the way of things.
JellyToast on January 16, 2009 at 10:07 PM
Isn’t Pepsi the one with the female Muslim President?
NahnCee on January 17, 2009 at 1:24 AM
Seems to me it’s time to put up or shut up,…remember money talks B.S walks,…any sell out “celebrity” any sell out merchandise,…any company that stepped to the plate for Barry’s political kool-aid can’t have a dime of my green.
Money is the only sound they hear.
christene on January 17, 2009 at 2:22 AM
Glad I don’t like and don’t drink Pepsi, but I do drink Canada Dry Diet Ginger Ale and I think that’s made by Pepsi. I’ll just have to sacrifice and change brands.
Jeanette on January 17, 2009 at 6:13 AM
Laura on January 16, 2009 at 5:09 PM
My sentiments exactly!
NOW we need to “come together” because it’s going to take “all of us”? Now it’s going to take all of us?
The last eight years would probably turned out differently had these same lefty morons been making these kinds of videos then and not now.
Pardon me if I don’t just let you all fail on your own merits while I giggle gleefully. What? If I did I wouldn’t be “patriotic” or “supportive” or at one with our all of a sudden new found “togetherness”?
That’s right. To put not to fine a point on it – suck it lefties!
catmman on January 17, 2009 at 9:39 AM
I am way late posting on this thread but I couldn’t resist. The way the MSM and companies are falling all over Obama is totally sicking. He already has more baggage going in than previous administration starting their second term. His picks for key position include conflict of interest (Hillary), bad history (Holder), and the list goes on and on.
duff65 on January 17, 2009 at 4:08 PM
Two cases of soda a week? Um….6 sodas a day? If you’re still around, you definitely need to stop that habit. Get down to one or 2 a day, of whichever brand you prefer.
6 sodas a day? You’re not gonna have enamel on your teeth or calcium in your bones for a whole lot longer if you keep that up.
If you want the caffeine, switch to coffee or tea–caffiene with antioxidants and not full of phosphoric acid.
funky chicken on January 17, 2009 at 4:55 PM
I’m having trouble seeing why this is relevant. Who gives a f— who Pepsi endorses? Are you buying the product or the ideology?
I love Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. I don’t care if they’re flaming liberals. I’m buying their ice cream. Once I pay for it with my money it’s now their money. They can do whatever the hell they want with it.
Do you think they really care if you stop buying it?
Think of it like this, if your basement is flodding and you need a plumber/basement specialist and he pulls up with an Obama bumper stick on his truck, are you really going to give a crap what his politics are if he can provide you with a service you really need?
I say buy Pepsi if you like it. You’re supporting capitalism, not somebody’s politics.
Pcoop on January 18, 2009 at 11:05 AM
I don’t have a problem with people believing what they want to. I don’t have a problem with people using pretty much any platform to express their beliefs. What I do have a problem with is having self-indulgent, narcissistic trained seals believing that just because they have the ability to say lines someone else wrote for them and stand where someone else tells them to stand, that the rest of us should give a tinker’s damn about what they think.
Pepsi can support whomever they want to. It won’t change my purchases any, since I’m already a Coke drinker. But I’ve become ultra-fatigued at the Hollywood star(let) as political sage trend.
Physics Geek on January 18, 2009 at 1:42 PM
I never liked Pepsi. It’s just a coincidence that Michael Jackson and these tools made commercials for that paint thinner.
Christine on January 18, 2009 at 6:07 PM
Aw come on Physics Geek… it takes loads of talent to wear tube tops and panties like those!

I’ve always been a Coke drinker myself because Pepsi has a funny after taste. But I don’t know that this situation is a bad thing. All I can think is look how many careers Pepsi has destroyed. Example: Think pop stars like Michael Jackson or Britney Spears Pre-Pepsi commercial era and then post-Pepsi commercial era.

This Obama lunacy is becoming most unseemly.

I guess I’m switching to Coke. “Yes, the country should change”. What, you want universal health care? So your rich celebrity a$$ can go get whatever you want done, while my health insurance through my JOB becomes meaningless and I have to deal with Brit style NHS wards, understaffed and undertrained? Thanks a lot.
